We came to Plattsburgh today to pick our daughter up from the airport. We were all hungry and we decided on a sandwich. The menu was amazing, the sandwiches were absolutely outstanding. The vegetables were fresh, the bread was so great. We got some macaroni salad to share and it was also outstanding. Great food, service and I know in the future will be back! What a gem. I was passing through the area, and always seek out local businesses when I can. This is a homey, cool sandwich place in a residential area down by SUNY Plattsburgh. Great selection of breakfast and lunch sandwiches. Service was amazing - quick and friendly counter staff, with great attitudes and willingness to offer suggestions and answer questions - really added to the experience. Chicken salad sub was fantastic - crisp, chewy sub roll w pickle - nicely done. They will oven toast practically any sun. The concept is a little strange. It is a sandwich shop inside a corner market. The sandwiches are top notch. The cost is reasonable and the staff is friendly. Parking at lunch is not the easiest, but it is worth the try. read more

This place is hopping! Mac salad is not over Mayo'd and had large chunks of peppers which I liked. Pros: fresh bread, romaine lettuce (not iceburg), great condiments, fast friendly service, they hid a pickle in with my sandwich which was a fun first time surprise. I really, really, really, deeply, passionately love this place. Right now, my mouth is watering because I made the mistake of talking about it with my friend and it will be a small life time before that fresh bread and tasty meat will tantalize my taste buds. Every time I come home, my first stop is always to Zuke's, where the service is speedy and the subs are delectable. Plus, the pickle served on the side has to be one of the most delicious pickles I've ever had. I'm confident saying this even after living in NYC and experiencing many a Jewish pickle. Did I mention you also get a free baby bag of chips?? My only complaint is that the prices have gone up significantly since my high school days and more recently, the subs have gotten smaller. Noticeably smaller. I went on multiple lunch dates and every one of my friends commented on the reduced size. They seem to have made the bread narrower and the meat less plentiful. Their subs are excellent: great sub rolls, fresh high quality ingredients and every sub includes an individual small bag of Herr's chips of choice. They have a few small tables and some counter space for eating in. They have nice soups in the winter. Maybe it's the nostalgia factor as I used to walk here after high school to order a hunk of bread to eat before soccer practice, but man do I look forward to eating here every time I come back to my hometown. The servers are lovely, the food is consistently good, and the bread is always fresh. My go-to used to be the Italian mix sub, however, my world has now been turned around since I have finally tasted a Zuke's special. Next visit will be a toss-up for me, maybe one of each? I have also had their macaroni salad and pasta salad. Both are yummy, but I prefer the pasta over the mac salad as the last one I had was a bit heavy-handed on the black pepper. They are right off of Brinkerhoff, so a short walk from DT and you have a great home made sandwich with real bread, and generous portions.
