We started with a watermelon margarita and an extra dry Hendricks Gibson up. The drinks were perfectly chilled and hit the spot after a long day touring Fort Ticonderoga. We were told that their prime rib was the belle of the Fire & Ice ball so we made that our dinner. Roasted slowly overnight, the meat is perfectly medium rare inside with a delectable crust. Served with a range of sides and a generous dollop of freshly grated horseradish, we could not have been more pleased with the quality and quantity of the prime rib. They have an interesting dessert cart but, after 40 ounces of delicious prime rib, we gave the sweet course a miss. Fire & Ice is a compelling option for those spending time in Middlebury. Wow! We have been craving oyster po'boys since moving up from the south, and we have found our grail. Offered in 2 sizes, with a great balance of dressing/garnish/oysters, with *perfectly* fried oysters & bread that is just right. The bread is the kind that looks like an underdone baguette, but is actually exactly right for a sandwich- especially one filled as generously as this one. Fries are excellent too! The remoulade has a different, slightly Italian taste, that I couldn't quite identify, but it was delicious. As long as the oysters & the bread are as right as these were, I am open to creative flavors. This little deli has a huge variety of items on the menu, mostly seafood, though they have meat and vegetarian soups and sandwiches as well. Italian-style deli, no indoor seating although they do have a selection of wine you can buy to go with your takeout as well as fish and antipasto. I've always adored this place, but the staff is NOT wearing masks right now. It's one thing not to enforce masks for customers (a bad thing) but a whole different level for the staff to be talking loudly and breathing on the food all day without masks. Stay far away for now... I hope they come to their senses and work to keep everyone safe. read more

Green peppers sliced a half inch thick that wouldn't stay in the roll. Half a romaine leaf and too much mayo, even though I asked for very light on the mayo.
