Yesterday, we placed an order for pizza from Cubbers Pizza in Bristol. After distributing the pizza, Ty took a couple of bites of his slice and discovered fly eggs underneath the burger and cheese. We promptly took pictures of the pizza and notified Cubbers. I spoke with a manager named Erin, and she was polite and professional throughout our conversation. Erin offered us a new pizza or credit, but I declined and requested a refund instead. She agreed, and I was unable to return last night, so she left a note to pick up the refund the following day. Meanwhile, Ty shared a post with his friends and family about the incident without mentioning Cubbers or making any negative comments. Two unknown individuals commented, suggesting that the pizza had been left unattended outside, which was not the case. The owner of Cubbers also commented. While this was happening, we were on our way to pick up the refund. Upon arrival, I informed the lady at the counter that I was there to collect a refund, which I had previously arranged with Erin. The lady asked for the reason, and I explained the situation with the fly eggs. She then called the owner. As he was walking over she then leaned over the counter in my face and told me 'That's a crock of shit, baby.' The owner then accused me of lying and refused to issue the refund. I have included pictures and a video of the incident below. The video is difficult to hear as my phone was in my pocket. In conclusion, our experience with Cubbers Pizza in Bristol was unsatisfactory, and we would advise against visiting this establishment unless you want to risk finding fly eggs in your food or receiving poor customer service. read more

The new booth tabletops are gorgeous, and hopefully as the pandemic winds down, indoor seating, and then summertime seating will be great options again. For pizzas, this is our go-to spot. Definitely the best pizza around, with in-house dough, and fresh. The pizza isn't as greasy as others, and the crust seems to always be just right in terms of thin and crispy. The busiest & friendliest venue in all of Bristol! Cubbers is that place to stop at to get when in need of food that will stick to your bones while having a good time watching a ball game with a brew. The place is phenomenally lively with locals and tourists like me, and it can be somewhat hard to hear your order being processed due to how busy the place gets. There is seating both inside and out, yet expect to get bumped sometimes if your table is too close to the door. That's because there are days when the line gets long & wide, even somewhat spilling out of the door. Cubbers seems to offer a huge menu to choose from, and it appears everything is pretty good from the pizzas, subs, wings and soups, to the huge brownies that are next to the cash register. Parking outside is limited (as are most of downtown Bristol's venues), yet this is a minor thing in the summer time. For a good bite with good service, I'll certainly consider this place first upon my return to Bristol. read more

Whenever I make the trip up to northwestern or central Vermont, or even the Northeast Kingdom, I always seem to pass through the small town of Bristol. As it turns out, when I passed through Bristol today, and since there aren't many food choices within a 10-15 mile radius of Bristol, I decided to have lunch at one of the establishments in town. As a result, I decided to choose to dine at Cubbers, which I believe has been around since 1975. Cubbers seems to do most of their business in pizza, subs and sandwiches, but of course, there are some soups, salads and specials as well. I decided to order a Junebug chicken sandwich, which features a chicken breast, lettuce, tomato, cheese and mayo on a toasted roll. I also had a hamburger mac soup and washed it down with. I thought the food was tasty, and while I thought the service was a little slow, they did bring the food right to my table that I was waiting at. read more

Intentionally bad or aloof customer service. Ordered a fairly large lunch order of a few sandwiches and a calzone. Picked up and paid, about 2/3 of the 15 minute drive home, thought to separate the one hot sandwich from the cold ones, discovered there was no hot sandwich. Was on somewhat of a time crunch which is why we got to go, and with limited service was unable to reach them. Dropped the family off at home then drove back, turns out the sub wasn't missing, it just wasn't made. The woman asked if I still wanted it, to which I asked (and found in the affirmative) whether I was charged. They proceeded to make the sandwich but offered nothing or any sort of acknowledgement of their error, the inconvenience or time wasted. I'm not sure what happened here, but the last two times we've gotten take out over the past two months, the food is WAY too salty. The pizza crust is now more of a thick foccacia bread brushed ala Dominos with a salt solution. I ordered a specialty pie and requested chicken instead of bacon. It came with deep fried chicken fingers rather than pieces of grilled chicken, WHAT??? No one asked me if I preferred grilled or fried. Who puts deep fried chicken on a pizza? Too salty to eat. Put the entire thing down the disposal. The next time I went plain cheese pizza. How can you mess that up? Same deal. WAY too salty to eat. Not air-conditioned. This seems cruel to the employees during the summer. It is 2018. It certainly left a negative, cold, prickly feeling when I inspected my receipt when I got home. Finding out that you charged a service fee when I bought 2 pizzas and picked them up made me feel that you were taking advantage. The only other place that I've ever shopped at, that does that, has a huge sign that states the policy. I would suggest . . . Instead of charging a service charge for using our credit cards, why not give a price and say you give a DISCOUNT if paid in cash? You'd get the same inflated cost for doing business with a credit card, but people might feel "better" about it, ha ha! Great food! We have stopped at other places in Bristol but had not yet made it to Cubbers. Looked at it's Yelp reviews and decided to give it a try. Got there just before they opened at 11:00am. They opened promptly at 11:00! Went in and took a seat in a bench booth*. The front person/waitress told us about the specials and brought us a menu. Told us to come up and order and she would bring it to us. There was a great deal to choose from, we decided on one of the Specials and the front person/waitress came over promptly, took our order and said that she thought that's what we would order. She was very sweet and personable. The food came fairly quickly, you could hear good natured bantering in the kitchen area. We were impressed with the quality and size of the portions. We got the Brisket Special, brisket was cooked well and served with cheese, horseradish sauce and pickles on a Ciabatta roll. Add a large portion of hot House Made French Fries and good cold Cole Slaw (included in the Special) and it made for a huge amount of very good food at a very reasonable price. Any downside, not really. The "bench/booth* we sat at was wooden, very austere with no padding. I have a cushion I keep in the car for this very reason. They might think about cushions for the bench/booth seats. No points taken off for that though. Will we go back? Oh yeah! It's worth it! Bring your own seat cushion if needed! read more
