We, party of 5, really enjoyed our meal and experience at the tillerman. The service was terrific, a nice variety of wine selection, food very good, and the deserts were amazing! The Caesar salad was a large serving that we shared, was creatively made, and delish. We ordered 3 pizzas, wonderful crust and toppings. The "Sausage" was very interesting, serviced with flavorful lentils, and recommended as it was also good. The chocolate gelato was quality rich, as the other choc desert, and also very delicious. 2025 Favorite Find Reservation is strongly recommended. Finally checked off TT after over a year and it was definitely worth it! The Tillerman is located about 5 minutes from downtown Bristol. The restaurant is inside an inn that is popular for their outdoor weddings. +++. Ambiance is idillic Vermont farm inn. Beautiful grounds and surprisingly large restaurant. The restaurant feels intimate as it is divided into many rooms. They have a wood burning oven for their pizzas. We sat in an intimate nook with a view of their front garden. +++. Food is new American and pizze. Interesting, creative and insanely delicious cuisine. +++ beef tartare - first tartare I've consumed more than a bite! +. Shrimp skewer- perfect temp but a little fishy for me. Others liked it though ++. Green salad - loved the presentation and tasty. Though flavorful, some bread crumbs were gravelly. Will skip bread crumbs next time. +++. Funghi pizza - fragrant blue oyster mushrooms on thin sourdough (they use a mix of several flours) crust. Though the bread crumbs are reminiscent of bacon bits, will skip it next time. Even so, the best mushroom pizza eva! ++. Orange sunrise mocktail was sweet and refreshing ++. This place is amazing!! The food is incredible!!! Every bite of every dish we has was a WOW. We stayed at the Inn for two nights, and ate dinner there both nights. It was that good!!! The whole Inn is so special. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, the staff is friendly and attentive and the food is among some of the best we have ever had. What a find! Traveling between Burlington and Manchester, went out of the way to find this place. Amazing atmosphere, amazing service and the food was exquisite! This restaurant is nestled in an old farm house and is equipped with a modern bohemian vibe and food that is as fresh and vibrant as the interior of the building. The pizza was ranked in the top of the list for the nation - and it's clear to see why. We tried all of the pizzas, and were blown away by them all. Our favorite was the eggplant pizza, which has an eggplant purée, drizzled labne, olives, and a delightfully bright citrus flavor. We also tried some veggie side dishes. My favorite was the green beans in brown butter corn sauce. I wanted to swim laps in the sweet and buttery dish. I ended up dipping my crust in the sauce and eating the rest with a spoon. If you aren't near, it is a tad far from the slopes (if there's snow and you're coming from Sugar/ Mad River, you better have 4H or AWD as the mountain drive to get there is no joke) but the food here is great. It's also a very cute/ quaint restaurant/ inn. Xmas holiday movie vibes if you're here in the winter. Host had a great personality (wish he was our server) and the food is mostly locally sourced. Best cocktail of the night: The kingdom buck. Well balanced and tasty, not overly sweet. Fav dishes: the ravioli with pork filling was surprisingly good, and of course the pizza was solid as well. Visited Tillerman's a few nights in a row. Besides a great selection of spirits at the bar and the food being wonderful, I had the Tuna toast and the Cota Pizza, the most impressive experience was the kindness, attention and responsiveness of the staff. Not only did I experience it personally, but the way the staff interacted with every single person that arrived, asked a question, and most importantly supported each other in ways I rarely see even in 5 star properties around the world, was more than just impressive. What a beautiful country setting. We went on a beautiful summer Wednesday evening. We had reservations for dinner outside on the patio. The property has the house with the restaurant, a barn and another building that they were using to barbecue. The inside of the restaurant had a bar, and a couple rooms to eat inside. Very quaint. Wednesdays during the summer they have live music in their barn . They also are grilling outside which looked like hot dogs, hamburgers, sausages and beer was available there . We didn't walk over there so there could have been other food options as well. The gardens are beautiful; families were there with kids of all ages. We sat on the patio where there were shade trees and umbrellas . We could see and hear the music in the barn and enjoyed watching the kids playing in the yard. A lovely spot to meet friends/family for a comfortable night out. The pizza was delicious and the restaurant is 'so Vermont' ! Really quaint. Just out of town. The wait staff was friendly and professional. All the food was grown locally. The cocktails are very creative. I enjoyed a blueberry mule. Well, as a resident of the adjoining town(Hinesburg), we were excited to drop into this reinvented establishment. It was more of a "let's just sit at the bar, have a cocktail, and order some light fare". We were greeted by a confused duo, and Shepherded to the bar. A few menus dropped in front of us and things seemed pleasant so far. But then, we were quickly informed that the restaurant was over booked. We could not order any food, but we could get a drink. This was not pleasant news given our expectations of a pleasant 1st interaction. Then the owner came over with a gruff disposition and reiterated the bad news. We looked at each other, knowing very well by our many years of restaurant experience that this was totally unacceptable. We had been told by a number of friends how good the Tillerman is. Finally we had the opportunity to try it ourselves and we will be back again. The cocktails were inventive, as were the other menu items, and quite good. The golden beet salad served with ricotta. Our two pizzas were outstanding to the point of spoiling all other pizzas. We booked a private dinner here and on our way were caught in an isolated snow squall at the top of the mountain pass. Our bus driver didn't want to chance going down the hill and we ended up waiting 2 hours for a plow/salt truck to appear. Jason came up the mountain and made sure we were ok. When we finally arrived at the restaurant nearly 2.5 hours late, almost 9 pm, they still fed us. I don't know how many stars "braved a snow storm on a mountain to make sure customers were safe" deserves, but it is exponentially more than 5. Food was also incredible (not just because of above ordeal) and the atmosphere warm and inviting. This place has a customer for life. read more

Our family had a wedding nearby and so we had a few people within our group that stayed here. If you don't mind not having TV, it's ok to stay, which was ok with me, but most people need the tv. Lol. The young lady that was working for our check-in was very kind and let us in early. We had drove quite a ways to get there and just wanted to settle in. The rooms are extremely pricey, but they are clean. Not a lot of privacy if you have more than two in each room. No door to extra room and one room had a glass door for the bathroom and so don't stay in that one if you are with a shy person. The floors creak a lot but it is a very old house and has it flaws, so if you get up to go use the bathroom, everyone hears you. We did not get much sleep while we stayed here. I love the property itself but never got to dine there. I was hoping for a free breakfast after paying over $300 a night but no, we went to a Resturant Rosie's nearby. That place is great!!! I know that another couple stayed there and the owner was a little impatient and not pleasant. I personally did not have that experience because I never talked to the owner. I hope this review prepares you for what you are in for, but it is definitely a beautiful place. Just wish they had a fire pit for use on the weekend, and had live music when they have guests on weekend or a movie night or something. They had cornhole. That was about it. Plus, the outdoor area, which was nice but rain made it very buggy. That's all we had was rain all summer and they must have had the River wash out by them because the bank in one area was cut off, and steep. They did have chairs by the River with a fire pit over there but unsure if I could have used it because I never saw anyone during the remainder of my stay to ask. My second review of this restaurant. Went with friends and because of the issues with delay of pizza service last time we went on their first time slot (4:30). There were only one - maybe 2 other tables with guests. So much for timing. The time from arrival to check was two hours in a pizza place. This was without a desert. Maybe it is a management decision to slow service for serving more drinks? On asking the waitress she confirmed there was still only one person preparing/cooking pizza which is their only main course. I know it is tough to hire, but by now you would think they would at least have someone in training? One of our group was later upset I said anything to the waitress but honestly the waitress agreed with me. I have to say she was great. Maybe I was/am still upset with the comment I received from the owner my previous trip? If you want to have a two-hour + adventure in a pizza parlor then try it. The pizza is great. Especially the crust which one of our group said they think it is VT grain. Personally, I think it is a bit of sugar - anyway it is great. read more

This farm has been a restaurant for a long time and it is beautiful: the setting, the house, the gardens. The new owners have done well to set up an outdoor patio. The food and the service are both underwhelming, however. Pizza is all you can possibly fill up on here--all the starters are salads or veggies, some of them pretty good. The pizza itself is tasty but nothing special. Service was slow. My entire experience here was "meh." Nothing wrong with it but nothing unique or creative or even very good about it, either. Just ordinary. This very pretty spot deserves better. It looks to me like most people here--and there are plenty--come here to drink. read more

This is the best full scale restaurant, chefs, and staff in our area. We are there almost every week. The food that comes from that fabulous wood fired oven is terrific. The setting is quintessential country Vermont. It is also perfect for large parties and weddings. I'm sorry that the prior review was negative. And, yes, they have wonderful pizza but there is also lots to love on the rest of the menu. I think the prior review was posted when the place was new and during Covid times of shortages. But, that description isn't the place that we know and love. I am glad to offer this different point of view. read more
