    Peach sticky toffee dessert
    Jason B.

In northern Vermont, starry night is on a short list of best overall restaurants. Ive never had anything less than a great meal in 7 years of visiting. Highlights this time: The coal fired vegetables were smoky deliciousness. The peach sticky toffee dessert with vanilla ice cream was addicting. Notes: The ribeye entree can be shared among two non ravenous people (they offer different sizes - ask when you order). The peach toffee dessert is also a shareable size. The atmosphere inside and outside is always beautiful. Our server Brooke was also awesome. Highest recommedation!

Grill Bread appetizer. Vadouvan oil, chives, salt.

We're locals. Drove by this place many a-time. Honestly ever thought it was a tourist coffee shop type thing. Then one day I was looking for a place for our anniversary dinner. As I dug in and looked at the Yelp! reviews, the Web site and menu, I was surprised. Using OpenTable I booked a reservation for us, and noted it was our anniversary. We got there and yeah the gravel lot and not-quite-strip-mall shopping area thing on the side of VT Route 7 (what we consider a major highway) was not on outward appearance what would be the correct "cover" to this "book". Trust me, it's worth it to crack this tome open. The inside is warm and cozy and offers a romantic atmosphere, but also can accommodate groups. Great views outside of woodsy tree filled spaces. The staff were amazing. They preemptively acknowledged our special occasion and were very attentive to every need. Just the right amount of checking in without hovering, but not absent enough to make us want for more. The food. Holy crap. The food. OMG. It's all very fresh and as local as can be. The grill bread is great as an appetizer, and I learned what vadouvan oil was. The picanha for two was absolute perfection, cooked just right, tender and flavorful. The side of polenta with the other bits. I can't put in words or pictures what can do that side dish justice. If you are looking for a great meal, perhaps in a great romantic setting, do not pass over this gem in Ferrisburgh.

Excellent food, friendly service and warm ambiance. We sat by the fire and enjoyed mocktails, shared starters, pasta, an entree and shared a dessert. We paid $218 with tip and without alcohol. It's very romantic and an intimate cozy space. Servers were very attentive. Plan on 2 hours.

A truly stellar meal! (No pun intended.) Starry Night Cafe is nice dining without feeling pretentious. It's cozy, warm, and oh so delicious. We were seated in the greenhouse area right by a window with a view out into the garden. For drinks, we ordered the Long Goodbye cocktail and a glass of red wine, which we enjoyed with the complimentary fry bread. For our appetizer, we ordered the smoked swordfish arancini, which tasted great with a squeeze of lemon. A hearty, unique take on fried rice balls! As our entree, we split the Dry Aged NY Strip, which came atop greens and mushrooms, along with a side of broccolini (a special from the garden that day). The steak was DELECTABLE and a perfect portion for two to share. The broccolini was perfectly roasted and just delghtful. We ended up taking leftover steak home, but that didn't mean we could pass up dessert! We went with the Gianduja pots de creme which, in addition to being beautiful, was creamy and decadent. The perfect end to a 5-star experience!

Our favorite spot! We come here at least once a month for a few reasons. First off, the service. Every member of the staff is professional, personable, and great at their jobs. Second, the food is incredible. We love the coal roasted oysters, the peanut ginger salad and the rotation of entrees they make depending on the week/month. Recently I had the Korean BBQ wings and WOW!!! I may be a slightly biased because of my personal attachment to Starry Night but no joke, might be the best ribs I've ever had. The quantity of food was nuts, we had left overs for days! She got the Salmon which was prepared perfectly and came with Quinoa which was delicious. Lastly, the Ambiance of the dining room and the decor is fantastic. We will always have a love for Starry Night Cafe, and you and your friends or family should make it a part of your routine if you live in the Champlain Valley or just driving by!

    House grilled bread w/vadouvan spice : )

I have been here twice so far, & both times had a great dinner. This second time, we had: Grilled bread w/vadouvan spice - soft, hot, naan-like flatbread with a warm spiced oil on it. This was table bread, but I could eat a few of these! Delicious. Smoked Fish Dip - lemony, slightly smoky branzino, with creme fraiche and a sprinkle of pickled green onion. Perfect with the generous serving of crackers that came with. Wood Grilled Prime Picanha - served as part of a platter for two, the sliced picanha was PERFECTLY rare with medium rare ends. Black garlic, grated horseradish, flaky salt & cracked pepper to use as we wish. 2 huge twice-baked potatoes & a small salad w/a dilly housemade ranch made this perfect. A must order! Strawberry Bavarian - layers of yummy mousse, fresh cream, strawberries, & house made graham crackers made this a heavenly dessert Coconut caramel ice cream - soooo rich & creamy, this (vegan!) scoop was memorable. Made with coconut caramel & coconut cream, so good! Strawberry rhubarb sorbet - the perfect light sorbet to really highlight the peak strawberry season The last time we were here, my favorite things were: Chamomile Greens salad - the lightest essence of chamomile made the vinaigrette on the baby lettuces & shaved vegetables really shine. A light chevre added a creaminess, & made this a memorable salad Whole Branzino - roasted perfectly House Made Pappardelle - the meaty ragu & fresh ricotta on the fresh pasta made this hearty dish delicious Both times, our servers were gracious & attentive. We sat inside by the window, & the views of the patio & the lake were lovely. This is on my short list of best restaurants to return to in the area!

Amazing food yet again! Second time this year and still amazed. We got the house made paparedelli, scallops and seafood stew. Not pictured was a delicious spin on a dirty martini, "salt of the earth", the smoked olives were amazing.

    Fennel Pollen Pistachio Cake
    Jude A.

The meal started with a complementary fried bread, which had the perfect flavor and texture. For my appetizer, I enjoyed the swordfish arancini, which had a phenomenal taste. For my main entrée, I had the dry-aged New York strip, which was tender, well-seasoned, and flavorful. To conclude the meal, I had a latte and enjoyed the fennel pollen pistachio cake, which definitely satiated my dessert cravings. The ambiance was very relaxing, and the servers were very friendly and responsive.

Very friendly service that had us sipping on locally sourced craft beer right away. Very reasonably priced flight which had a pilsner, a pale, an IPA and a stout on nitro. All were solid. The place smelled so incredible since a large tray of smoked wings were fresh out of the smoker, so we had to order up those, along with their fantastic onion rings. Not sure about the one review saying the wings tasted like rubber, but they must not enjoy smoked style wings. There were piping hot, and practically fell right off the bone when you ate them. A nice hint of some sweet spice in the dry rub that I could not identify, but they were some of the best wings I have eaten, so take that for what it is. We both absolutely loved them. I ordered the house salad and it was a monster for under $7. Loaded with cucumbers, tomatoes, radishes, arugula and other greens. Split a pizza (Green Street, loaded with Basil pesto, roasted fennel, pickled fennel, mushrooms, baby arugula, toasted pine nuts, local mozzarella, Grana Padano & balsamic reduction). Ordered only 1/2 mushroom for my picky friend, and they happily obliged. We brought some of the salad and pizza home with us, as the portions were gigantic. A great first visit to Hired Hands. We'll be back.
