Let me tell you what I didn't expect. Cajun food in St. George, Vermont. Okay not just Cajun food but pretty great Cajun food that isn't trying too hard and is served up by a staff of local youth who stay chipper and polite even as slammed as I saw them get both busy nights I was there. So far I've had the shrimp po'boy and the mufaletta, both of which were awesome. The mufaletta is ginormous, served on a traditional sesame bun and made two generous meals, during which I said "mmm, ummm, mm" a lot. The small size po'boy was also generous, which makes it a good deal at ten bucks. Fantastic shrimp, great aioli and toasted bread that was good -- maybe this is made from the pizza dough? -- though not the traditional baguette, and I'm a messy eater so there was a bit of a structural problem. Looking forward to trying the étouffée and the Cajun Mac n cheese. The honey cake was super. I may or may not have eaten my body weight in macarons. Don't judge me. I hear they also serve pizza and this is the town's local pizza joint. Lots of people came in to pick up their Friday night pies while I sat in the homey dining room and had my Cajun food. Pfft. We eventually want to try more of their menu but since moving to the area, we've gotten their pizzas at least once or twice a month. I wish they had delivery, but honestly I'll happily drive because their pizzas are so unexpectedly delicious! Prices are fair if slightly high. This is a simple place with a counter to order and a handful of tables to sit at. We were staying nearby so I stopped in for lunch. Pretty large sandwich menu. I ordered the portobello goat cheese sandwich. The bread was a bit over cooked and hard like a biscuit. But the flavors were good. read more

We actually drove by this place and missed the sign. Easy to do. Plus. The parking is in the back so it's not like you'll see cars parked outside. We had asked some locals where we should get lunch and they all agreed this is the place. This place is small but full of local charm. You order at the counter and they bring the food to you. I saw they had etouffe and I just couldn't pass it. It was good and hearty but I wanted more crawfish meat. It had good spice level to it -- definitely not bland which I was happy about. Gave the new owners of this restaurant several chances. Ordered the Sicilian pizza crust with pepperoni and sausage for an extra $4 dollars. Couldn't even see the sausage. Topping are very skimpy. Pizza was tiny, the end was cut off before baking. The kicker? Ordered online and they automatically added a 15% tip. Not even a question or ask. For a pickup. I was in the business for years and would always tip well even for takeout, but to add automatically? Cross this one off your list. read more

I grew up here and never stopped, but now that they have macarons by Matryoshka's Bakery, it was the perfect time! My husband and I were visiting for our anniversary and Maryam baked our cake and macarons for our wedding! Of course Mama always says you have to eat your dinner before dessert, so we ordered our meal before jumping into the grand finale. We ordered a small thin crust White Pizza. It was very well balanced with cheese to crust ratio and the crust had a lovely crunch when you bit into it. We also ordered garlic Parmesan and honey BBQ wings. They're oven roasted, meaty, and juicy! Also, their ranch is SUPERB! It's a must have side order! We then ordered our macarons to go and they treated us to Russian Honey Cake for our anniversary- so so so fresh and delicious! We will definitely be back before we go home and highly recommend this place. Oh! Also, they have a few outdoor tables and we were able to have our two small dogs sit with us! I really like this place. The staff is friendly and helpful and the food is very good. It's awesome that it is only 10 minutes from our house, we will certainly be back. The first time we went, we had the thick crust pizza. I didn't really like it, but my husband had a hankering for pizza tonight, so we ordered online (they now have a website: www.goodtimescafevt.com). It was hard to find the menu to order from, but now that the website is up, no worries! This place makes the best food! They have a variety of pizzas, which is their specialty. But their gumbo and jambalaya bowls are the best I've found in Vermont, and they have a variety of salads and desserts (the best macaroons!) Also, I came in one time to pick up my pizza, and saw that they had prepped a lot of food plates for the homeless shelter nearby. I'm really a fan of this place. read more

This place is one of the best things about Hinesburg. Chris and Tracy are fabulous people and run a great neigborhood restaurant. The pizza is great and they always have some interesting soup and dinner specials as well. They also bring some great musicians to town and if you get the chance you shouldn't miss this opportunity to get up close and personal in a very intimate setting. We used these folks to cater our SerVermont statewide conference and they were awesome! Lasagna, Gumbo, and Indian veggie chic pea stew type dish. They met all our specific requests (some with meat, some vegetarians, some vegan dishes) There was PLENTY of food, the staff was so friendly!
