Garlic bread
Amelia S.

I don't know what the standard for pizza for Vermont is but this was a a disappointment for someone from Jersey. We ate it because it was next door to a dog friendly brewery otherwise I wouldn't have chosen it. The margherita pizza was flimsy, undercooked and yet burnt at the same time. There was way too much sauce in proportion to the cheese. The cast iron garlic bread was super disappointing. It was round pieces of leftover crust lightly coated in garlic butter. No actual real pieces of garlic. Very bland and chewy inside. Some pieces were undercooked and some were crispy. Honestly the photos make it look better than it was.

Really not good pizza unfortunately. We went with a grandma pie margarita stole which was soggy/underdone and the sauce defied adjectives being both too sweet AND flavorless. We barely ate any of the pie, which is saying something lol. Possibly that a thin crust option is the way to go here but I'd not come back

Order pickup

It's my first time giving anything less than a 5-star rave review, but I feel I must speak up about my extremely disappointing Pizza 44 trip last weekend. I've enjoyed ordering from Pizza 44 in the past as a South End resident, usually for board game nights in the winter. The staff are always warm and professional. But the poor timing on this order really ruined the experience. I placed my order for two pizzas and an appetizer around 4:30 PM. I received an email confirming the pickup time at 6:20 PM. I arrived at 6:15 PM to check in, and they said they were 15 minutes behind. I returned to check in at 6:35, and they told me it would be just a few more minutes (and they would text me when it was ready.) The "order is ready" came through at 7:00 PM while I was waiting outside. After standing at the pickup window behind a few disgruntled customers, I left the store at 7:07 PM, nearly an hour after the pickup time. Hungry, I opened the Mozzerella Frita to eat on the hood of my car, but it wasn't even warm. They were squishy, soggy, and cold. I would have eaten it while waiting had I been given the option. Also, the pizza (pictured) felt more rushed than my previous orders. The famous Alice had a strange undercooked texture to it so it was unusually oily and too sloppy to stay on the crust. I know every restaurant has off nights, and I respect how hard the team works to fill online orders. The employee explained that they had to turn off online orders because they were busy making pizzas for an event next door. But if this is the case in the future, then they should anticipate the high volume of pizzas when hosting a party and close the order system in advance. This visit was a huge bummer due to losing an hour of my Friday evening when I could have been notified and simply supported a take-out restaurant that wasn't swamped. Had I known there would be an extensive delay, I would not have gone to City Market beforehand. My milk and yogurts got too warm in the cooler in my car and started to sour before I could get them into my fridge. I had also hoped to order eight pizzas the following night for our school dance chaperones, but I don't have confidence in their pickup times after this. I'd be grateful if Pizza 44 could look into what went wrong with the pickup time messaging. I hope they connect with the software company to ensure customers are not misled like this. My bigger worry was that the employee didn't seem phased about the 45-minute wait, like it was a regular occurrence. Needless to say, $67 spent on this experience was not worth it.

Quattro Formaggio Sicilian. Not a good pizza.

We placed a to go order on a Tuesday night. The order was ready early, it was all packaged securely, & everything was hot. But I have very mixed opinions on the food: The good Spicy Maple Wings - sticky, & worth some finger-licking. Didn't even need any dipping sauces imo. The bad Meatballs - there was a very off-putting, fine mealy or grainy texture to these meatballs, and barely any seasoning. They had some sauce & cheese on top, but it was altogether so bland, I could barely taste much of anything. I don't know what was in them, but they were not good. The ugly Quattro Formaggio Sicilian pizza - if they would have called this a giant cheesy bread, it might have set expectations better. It was a bready crust so overly puffy that melted cheese stuck onto the inside of the closed pizza box. The only suggestion of sauce was the pinkish moist bread just under the thin cheese layer. The cheddar frico'd edges were slightly crispy, but it wasn't good enough to save this. Barely any ricotta, & overall bland & flavorless. We ordered a side of tomato sauce, but dipping it in that didn't save it either. Garlic Bites were not great, but not awful either. Maybe we made a bad choice with the Sicilian, vs the regular pizza. There's great pizza in this town, so I don't think I'll be back to find out.

Agree with a lot of the previous posts! Was a great visit on a recommendation from a local friend! Menu has something for anyone. As well as a lot of branch out ideas on pizza! Was very impressive!

There is an overall condescending atmosphere. It is on the more expensive side. I've been a few times and I'm never greeted... The last time I went in, I had to stand there while the girl working the register and someone on the line finished their conversation. Then she was just standing there... So I said "Oh, hello, yes fine, thank you for asking" at which point she said sorry, he's having a bad day ... Anyway besides the lack of customer service and the overall condescending attitude the food is good. I had ordered the spicy Maple chicken wings and garlic knots, pictured below The chicken wings were very delicious, the garlic knots were just extra carbs I didn't need, lol.

It didn't take long to identify the state's core competencies: Producing world-class cheese Perfecting brick oven pizza Aggressively curating a very specific political vibe Curiously, only two of those things are edible, and unfortunately, you can't get pizza without being reminded of the third. Also worth noting: I'm not convinced any other style of pizza exists in Vermont. If it's not artisanal, wood-fired, and served on a reclaimed barn board, it apparently doesn't make the cut. So naturally, my brain locked in and I ate pizza two nights in a row like a creature of habit. Night 1: Pizzeria Verità Parking was...aspirationally convenient. After navigating downtown Burlington, which feels like a live-action sociology thesis, I made it inside. Let's address the elephant in the room: the price. With tip, I dropped nearly $30 for what amounted to a personal-sized pepperoni pizza that politely declined to fill me up. I assume part of the cost goes toward sourcing ethically massaged tomatoes or ensuring the mozzarella had a fulfilling upbringing. Now, to be fair, the pizza was excellent. Truly. Great crust, quality ingredients, clearly crafted by someone who cares deeply about their art. But the value? That's where things get a little...Vermont. Delicious? Absolutely. Filling? Not quite. Financially efficient? Only if you measure wealth in vibes. I went in skeptical, left impressed, and still had to consider a second dinner.

As a self-proclaimed pizza connoisseur, I recently found myself in Burlington for a work trip and…read moredecided to conduct what I can only describe as a two-night pizza field study. Vermont, as best I can tell, excels at three things. Producing elite-level cheese, perfecting brick oven pizza, and fully committing to a very particular political personality. Two of those things directly benefit me, so I leaned in. One immediate observation. If you are looking for anything other than wood-fired, artisanal pizza, you may want to adjust expectations. That appears to be the law of the land. Naturally, I adapted by eating pizza two nights in a row. Night 2: Folino's Pizza The next night I pivoted and ended up at Folino's, which turned out to be the value correction I needed. I ordered the MK pizza, which comes topped with caramelized onions and impressively large pepperoni slices that do not believe in subtlety. The difference was immediate. I paid less than the night before and received a pizza that was easily twice the size. This one actually acknowledged that I had not eaten since breakfast. The caramelized onions added a great balance of sweetness, the pepperoni brought both flavor and coverage, and the overall product hit that ideal intersection of quality and quantity. This pizza was not just good, it was filling. I left satisfied and with leftovers, which later doubled as an elite cold hotel breakfast. That alone puts it in a different category. The atmosphere at Folino's was laid-back, clean, and refreshingly unpretentious. The staff was friendly and accommodating. I showed up earlier than I had said I would, fully expecting to be told to wait, but they immediately jumped into making my order without hesitation. The location has a slightly rough-around-the-edges feel, but that seems consistent with parts of Burlington. It adds a little unpredictability to the experience, which at this point felt on brand.

We recently moved to the area and have been wanting to try Papa Franks. Italian food has my heart…read more lol I read the reviews here before visiting and I was a bit worried Because they weren't great reviews. We are extremely glad we ended up taking a shot. I told my husband that there was a review saying there was some rude people that work here and we absolutely disagree with that reviewer. We walked in and were immediately asked if we were picking up an order or staying to eat. The young lady told us to choose a table because they weren't very busy at the time and only 2 other couples were there. There were a few young men behind the counter making orders up for people ordering take out and they seemed like they really enjoyed working there. They were laughing and smiling the entire time we were there. It made the place feel very homey. My husband ordered a 12 inch cheese pizza in hopes that it would live up to his love of a good New York City pizza. He grew up there. Papa Frank knows how to make a pizza!! My husband found his new pizza place and we will be always ordering pizza from here. He absolutely loved it and even said it's the best pizza in Vermont. We've had pizza from absolutely everywhere. As for myself I ordered the eggplant parmigiana. It was fantastic and came with just the right amount of pasta and sauce on the side. The eggplant was very good and my only complaint, which isn't really a complaint because, it's just the way I prefer my eggplant, sliced a little bit thicker. Regardless it tasted so delicious and I didn't leave any on the plate. I even ordered a keylime pie to take home and boy do I want more of that! Key lime is my absolute favorite but I am soooo picky with it. No need to worry here because it's some of the best I've ever had! Next time Im definitely ordering some cannoli's. Our waitress was amazing and not to bothersome as some can be. As we were walking out the door one of the young men behind the counter told us to have a great rest of our day. My husband said oh no that was so rude. (Jokingly) Papa Frank you've got yourself some loyal repeat customers now. We will definitely be coming back!! Thanks for an awesome meal!
