I had a five star experience here, and I did not experience the things that others are complaining about. Well, maybe the music volume but I love the music that was being played so I don't think it's possible to have it too loud. First and most importantly the food. We got a pizzeria salad, one round pizza, one square pizza and the chicken Parmesan appetizer. None of us drink alcohol so we just had waters. Everything we had was delicious, beautiful, and well-made. We were a party of four adult males and everyone loved everything. We devoured the salad and chicken Parm. The pizzas were large and we each had at least two slices. Some people had three and we have enough so everyone can have another slice later. We spent 200 all in Taxes tip is included,. one of us felt like it was a lot with the rest of us thinking it was normal for the quality of the food. Service was great. I love the plate wear that things were served on. We were too full for dessert so I can't speak on that. When we walked in, there was jazz playing, and then some Jerry Garcia band was put on loudly. The pizza was just okay. A little burnt and EXTREMELY greasy. The ingredients seemed very high quality, but it should've been made out of gold for the price I paid. While I was in there, there was an extremely intoxicated man yelling and making a scene. He was there for a long time, so I was confused why the manager wasn't asking him to leave or at least stop yelling at people... it was only after a few minutes that I realized this intoxicated man WAS the manager (maybe even the owner). Hard to find place out in north end of Burlington. Pizza was very good, hot, fresh, light crispy crust... and that's about all I can say positive for this place. My boyfriend asked for espresso and they suggested three times in a row that he gave it AFTER his pizza despite him saying he'd like to start with it. Seems like a bizarre thing to push on a customer? That's just the beginning.. we got an essentially plain salad, which was about half of a hydroponically grown (or appeared exactly like one of those hydroponic lettuce heads in grocery store that comes in plastic individually wrapped containers) with a homemade basil dressing and literally no toppings. The pizza we got was a large plain margherita, salad, and an espresso and that cost $110!!!!!' Like what bro. So wild. Totally pretentious inside with like classical/jazz convo music playing and high lofted ceiling and nothing special about interior. Very bizarre scene and did not feel like a nice warm place you'd like to stay for a long dinner. Pizza was very good, but WAYYYYY over priced and can get just as good pizza for half what they charged at about 4 or 5 other spots around town. Cannot recommend this place to anyone. read more

We were a little afraid to come at first because of the reviews, but we were pleasantly surprised! Pizza by far is the best we've had in New England! All the ingredients were fresh and high quality! We could see them slicing our prosciutto on site. The atmosphere was really nice, the decor is great, everything was clean, and just had good vibes overall. We sat next to a kind couple from Boston who loved the place as well! Our waiter was polite and everything came out in a timely manner. The place was lively, and had customers in and out the entire time! The owner acknowledged us when we entered and said goodbye and thank you when we departed! They are very upfront about pricing and how to order, so it wasn't a surprise. Overall it was a great experience! read more

Burlington, VT is so LUCKY to have a place this amazing. Best pizza in VT no contest, top three I've ever eaten. The sauce, crust, cook, cheese.... Ate here on Friday for the first time and haven't stopped thinking about it. It's THAT GOOD. Prosciutto to die for and an amazing bottle of wine. Wine glasses were gorgeous. Service was inviting, warm, not stuffy, and engaging. Would have loved a slightly lower price point for a bottle, but what we had was VERY well priced for any restaurant and a stunner of wine. Fun fact, you don't have to drink wine when you go. We did, and it was worth it. I can't believe I hadn't tried this spot sooner. I'm a creature of habit and so happy I finally added this to my rotation. I will never understand the complaints about this place being expensive when burgers and fries run you $20 these days. Yes, it was a high end pizza. We also left with half a pizza in a box. Anyone seen all the restaurants closing in Vermont recently? It's not easy to run any food business, and they do it efficiently and top tier. If it's out of your price point, go to Domino's. Absolutely no reason to tear down a restaurant making UNREAL food because you chose to not do your research. What ridiculous behavior from so many people. Pizza Ida, more like the pizza of my dreams.I traveled from California to get these pies, and Ida didn't let me down. Well-crafted, meticulously sourced ingredients, and only a true artisan can manage fermentation to get dough like this. My visit was in the summer of 2021, and I still think about these pizzas literally every day. I work in the industry and have eaten pizza everywhere--these still live in my memory as a top 3. Better than L'Industrie, better than Bianco. Great natty wines, bomb-ass salads with Vermont produce, and killer tunes. Visiting for a graduation, we made a late rez for six and were told that we could only eat their set menu for $75 / person. Salad was delicious and I was grateful that they could remove spring onions. Then two huge hoagies arrived ahead of four pizzas. The pizzas: classic round pizzas were good, with crispy crusts. Detroit / square pizzas were also good but the crust, which was crispy,, was slightly burnt - we all scraped the doughy part off the crust. The dessert was two small tarts with hazelnut and chocolate filling. They were about 5 inches in diameter and were completely unshareable. The plates dropped off with the desserts were huge. Meanwhile, we all wanted a glass of wine, but the only wines offered were $150/bottle - no glasses offered. The server (maybe the owner?) told us that he makes no money off the $150 bottle of wine. One of our group is French and knows the specific Burgundy being offered and knows that it is $25 retail. We had to ask the server / owner several times to clear the piled-up plates. First let me say this is the best pizza I've ever had. It's truly delicious. We were welcomed when we walked in. It's a small but nice spot. We were curious to know more about their "story" as we'd learned about their pizza from a non local person. We decided to strike up a conversation with the owner. It took a minute to get him to open up, but once he did, he was very friendly and engaging. (In his defense, I showed up dressed in a formal suit which may have caused him to wonder what MY story was). I see some of the comments mention the price being high. At $40 a pie, it's not cheap. I really enjoyed the food but concur with a lot of the comments on the page about the price and the owner. If you are dining in, you are required to order a pizza AND an appetizer. We split a dessert and all in with tax and tip the bill was $100. I was however aware of the prices before going in-just not that I would be required to buy an appetizer just to be able to dine in. The music was way too loud. I love loud music but this was too much. Conversation was difficult. The last and most bizarre thing to me is that the windowsills are lined with books but signs warn you "DO NOT TOUCH" Completely unwelcoming. The owner came over and said "I am going to have to ask you to put the book back" And then, while obnoxiously stabbing his finger at the books on the ledge said "The sign right there says 'do not touch'!" He completely embarassed this man over a book, And who the hell puts books in a restaurant, at table level, but doesn't allow people to touch them? Meh... I had the classic round pizza. It was decent, not legit Italian, and grossly overpriced People on here rant and rave that the pizza has no "flop," which I don't fully understand. The pizza has no flop because the crust was almost a half inch thick and absolutely burned to a crisp. Half inch sheets of plywood have no flop, but it doesn't mean I want to eat them. The sauce was good but it certainly didn't taste like the San Marzanos I remember eating in Italy. I snuck out back to have a smoke while waiting forever for my pizza and noticed some of the San Marzano cans in the trash. They were not DOP-certified San Marzano tomatoes, so while decent tomatoes they are not legit. Aside from the crust and fake tomatoes, Pizza was overall decent. Unique for Burlington, sure. Hands down the best pizza in Vermont and one of the best anywhere. The vibe is low key and despite some reviews Dan and Erica the owners, couldn't have been more friendly. Yes, it is expensive but as the saying goes "you get what you pay for". My husband owns a NYC wholesale food business and was blown away by the quality of the ingredients. Costs may be a bit steep for Vermont but are completely reasonable for similar quality pizza in NY. We have been to L'Industrie, Prince Street Pizza, John's on Bleeker Street, etc and this definitely rivals them all. We had the original square pizza with pepperoni and the chicken cutlet parm and both were 10 out of 10. Certainly worth a few extra shekels in my mind. We will definitely be back and if you haven't tried it - you are definitely missing out. Oh - by the way, yes tax and gratuity are included in the bill. My guess is that without including it, too many people would stiff them since it is a pizza shop. Today, all kitchen workers work for tips. This isn't pizza, it's a crime scene. The crust was an undercooked, doughy mess that felt like biting into a wet sponge. The cheese? Where do I start? A friend told me that Pizzieria Ida had the best pizza in town so I called in for a one take out pizza. I got Dan on the phone and he seemed to busy to answer any questions about what sizes and what options where available and told me to go online to look at the menue. I did and found a large plain pizza for $38.00. I called back and asked him about the diameter of the pizza and he said 16 inches. Okay, would you add onions. Yes, absolutely, with no mention of an upcharge. I picked up the pizza and paid with my debit card without looking at the recipe ( I'm a little to trusting. When I got home I found that the pizza was absolutely delicious! The crust is amazing as well as the sauce. One issue was the outer crust was burnt so black it turned that essentially it became a 14 inch pie. Okay, I can live with that. However, when my wife asked what I bought for $56.20 I was at a loss. Upon further investigation it became apparent that Dan charged a 20% gratuity and a 2.8% fee for the debit card. So, not $38. He charged $4.00 for onions, plus &9.58 for an unauthorized gratuity along with$1.18 for using my debit card. I was expecting $38 plus tax period. Dan essentially stole $14.00 from me. My wife called and talked with the owner that said she was blowing things out of proportion. This business is not reputable. I'm guessing that business is not so good because they treat customers like shit and they feel the need to grab as much money as possible to make up for the lack of interest in their amazing pie. Very good pizza, best I have had in awhile. The service was bad, however. You feel onstage in the restarant, like you should already know what you need to do. It is hard to explain but plain as day when you walk in and try to figure out where to sit and whether your order actually went into the kitchen as you wait forever. I like the Grateful Dead playing in the background, on what sounded like a really good sound system, and the various Dead and Dead adjacent posters on the wall (and even a Ween poster!), but the chef seems to have missed the point of the band's vibes. I definitely had an interesting experience here. Pizza was pretty good but very overpriced. The owner and cashier were very impolite and the owner specifically said "A lot of alcohol for not a lot of food ordered, make it quick". As someone who suffers from an eating disorder and alcoholism, this was extremely offensive. Very unprofessional, and an immediate red flag but the group I was with insisted we try the pizza. I also ordered a Caesar salad, which came in a tiny bowl with basically just lettuce and dressing. When I say tiny I mean I probably could've fit all the food in a solo cup. For $12 this was such a terrible decision. Overall the only positives to this place were the Pizza and our server, he was younger but very polite.The comment the owner made tells you all you need to know about this place. The owner is also a pompous a-hole, in addition to his comment he was incredibly unkind and he also pressured us to eat quickly. I understand it's a small place but I assumed he wanted us to leave so he could go do live action role playing or something (he looked like a character from Lord of the Rings or a street performer from the Wild West) I will not give business to restaurants that body shame. I really hope others have had a different experience than I did as the pizza was decent but the staff was unkind and unprofessional. You can say whatever you'd like about the owner. You can say the music is too loud or you don't like the prices or your delicate sensibilities were impacted because you weren't appropriately coddled when you landed. But there are also facts you'll need to acknowledge here. The pizza is so much better than anyplace in Vermont it's not really appropriate to even contrast it. It's like comparing a chicken to a hammer. The flavors are all there, the dough is good beyond description (like the band populating the speakers), the chicken cutlets were just fucking sublime (and the pesto that bedded the plate was fantastic), and the service, honestly, was great. Is it expensive? Yes. Is it delicious? Yes When you use top notch ingredients you can charge top dollar for them. I loved the White Fig Traditional Pie. The ricotta is light and fluffy with a very fresh taste, the zanzabar peppercorns have a really nice spicy bite that is not overpowering and is balanced well by the sweetness of the saba drizzle.
