    Messed up, mediocre pizza
    Ambia C.

We are visiting from out of town and my husband decided he wanted to order a pizza. Yelp brought this place up as the closest (even though he passed 2 dominoes on the way to and from‍) He happened to open the box in front of the cashier after he paid. This is what he found (see photo). His question "really?!" Her response "they must not have been able to fit it in the box..." Really?! The pizza was not even cut through. The only piece that was cut was the one that the folded over...IT WAS CUT SO THEY COULD FOLD IT OVER AND MAKE IT DIT IN THE BOX! Really?! As far as pizzas go, we weren't sure how the crust could be almost burnt and soggy at the same time. This was expensive, very mediocre pizza. We would have been happier with dominoes

    Chicken parm with rigatoni

We came in with a group of friends and had a wonderful time. I ordered the chicken parmesan and my boyfriend ordered the Bolognese while we ordered the fried ravioli and the cesar salad for the table. While all of the menu items seemed like they would be on any Italian-American restaurant, it was all really good. The only item I wasn't in love with was the fried ravioli, which was a little chewy and plain, but there were so many great standouts, including the cesear salad and the bolognese, which I highly recommend. Not to mention that every dish was absolutely huge and you will be eating this for days. I would also say if you do order a dish, make sure you specify what kind of pasta you want. I ordered the chicken parm and it came with rigatoni, which was okay but I would have much rather have had their bucatini. Seriously the only critique I had of this place and I look forward to coming back in the future.

It's rare I go out for Italian because I'm always worried I'll be disappointed. A friend suggested we grab Friday night dinner here, so trusting her judgment, I decided to give them a chance and I'm very glad that I did. Their new restaurant is quite cozy. You can see them cooking from pretty much any vantage point, especially from the bar. Our bartender was super friendly and welcoming; he made me a delicious Aperol Spritz. I ordered the chicken parmigiana, which is a favorite that I hadn't had in awhile and my friend got the lasagna. We opted to forgo appetizers for this visit, but appreciated the warm, fresh bread we were offered. The plates were copious; I had a full plate of rigatoni plus three perfectly breaded and fried chicken breasts, all of which was smothered in a slightly spicy tomato sauce and of course, mozzarella cheese. I ended up with two other nights of leftovers from such a generous dish of food (#winning). Her lasagna looked equally good and she said it was delicious. Next time I want an Italian meal I don't have to cook myself, I'll gladly come here.

Juniors will now definitely be one of our go-to restaurants in this area. The restaurant's ambiance was great and our waiter was super nice. The food was delicious!!! The portions were huge, it'll probably last me 3 whole meals. I got the baked rigatoni, I loved the sauce and cheese. We got the bruschetta as an app and this was also very good. Cant wait to go back and try more!

Staying at a hotel locally and door dashed from here. The pizza is good pizza. The Grandma's Pizza has sesame seeds in the crust...it provides a deeper richer nutty flavor to the pizza!

I honestly was disappointed in the vodka sauce, it didn't have much flavor. I also thought the portion was small, if I didn't add the chicken I still would've been hungry after finishing. Although, the crispy chicken I did add was delicious. I'm glad we finally tried it here, but not sure I'll be back.

It didn't take long to identify the state's core competencies: Producing world-class cheese Perfecting brick oven pizza Aggressively curating a very specific political vibe Curiously, only two of those things are edible, and unfortunately, you can't get pizza without being reminded of the third. Also worth noting: I'm not convinced any other style of pizza exists in Vermont. If it's not artisanal, wood-fired, and served on a reclaimed barn board, it apparently doesn't make the cut. So naturally, my brain locked in and I ate pizza two nights in a row like a creature of habit. Night 1: Pizzeria Verità Parking was...aspirationally convenient. After navigating downtown Burlington, which feels like a live-action sociology thesis, I made it inside. Let's address the elephant in the room: the price. With tip, I dropped nearly $30 for what amounted to a personal-sized pepperoni pizza that politely declined to fill me up. I assume part of the cost goes toward sourcing ethically massaged tomatoes or ensuring the mozzarella had a fulfilling upbringing. Now, to be fair, the pizza was excellent. Truly. Great crust, quality ingredients, clearly crafted by someone who cares deeply about their art. But the value? That's where things get a little...Vermont. Delicious? Absolutely. Filling? Not quite. Financially efficient? Only if you measure wealth in vibes. I went in skeptical, left impressed, and still had to consider a second dinner.

The ambience was nothing to talk bout, but it was a snowy Tuesday night so you can't expect much. A bit dark and cold, like a Nonna's basement. Service was great: prompt, polite and attentive. The food was the problem. Caesar salad was great, no complaints there. My wife got a Pinot Grigio that was meh, but at $9 a glass, it was expected. I ordered a Pappardelle bolognese, and it was a disaster. The noodles were good, the bolognese was murder; too much of it, so much it was dry, it was quite frankly off-putting, looked like dog food. I tried eating it so I picked at only the noodles but I just couldn't, it didn't taste right. I should've taken a picture, I just didn't want to be rude, and I don't send food back. My wife got a Mushroom Risotto and it was plain and a bit 'al dente. I ended up eating that with her and even so we ate about half the portion. Portions however were huge! They were laughing and smiling the entire time we were there. It made the place feel very homey. Vermont, as best I can tell, excels at three things. Producing elite-level cheese, perfecting brick oven pizza, and fully committing to a very particular political personality. Two of those things directly benefit me, so I leaned in. One immediate observation. If you are looking for anything other than wood-fired, artisanal pizza, you may want to adjust expectations. That appears to be the law of the land. Naturally, I adapted by eating pizza two nights in a row. Night 2: Folino's Pizza The next night I pivoted and ended up at Folino's, which turned out to be the value correction I needed. I ordered the MK pizza, which comes topped with caramelized onions and impressively large pepperoni slices that do not believe in subtlety. The difference was immediate. I paid less than the night before and received a pizza that was easily twice the size. This one actually acknowledged that I had not eaten since breakfast. The caramelized onions added a great balance of sweetness, the pepperoni brought both flavor and coverage, and the overall product hit that ideal intersection of quality and quantity. This pizza was not just good, it was filling. I left satisfied and with leftovers, which later doubled as an elite cold hotel breakfast. That alone puts it in a different category. The atmosphere at Folino's was laid-back, clean, and refreshingly unpretentious. The staff was friendly and accommodating. I showed up earlier than I had said I would, fully expecting to be told to wait, but they immediately jumped into making my order without hesitation. The location has a slightly rough-around-the-edges feel, but that seems consistent with parts of Burlington. It adds a little unpredictability to the experience, which at this point felt on brand.
