Have been going to Waterhouse's/Paddlers for years. Went to get dinner at 7:15 on July 4th. Despite posted hours open until 9, they said they could not seat anymore however you could go to the bar and order anything from the menu there. We were a party of 3. There were two available seats and we tried to move a 3rd over as there was room. We were met with an EXTREMELY rude tone and scolding from the bartender. I get they may have had staffing issues although they weren't that busy compared to so many normal nights in the past. Maybe don't work in the service industry if you can't work with people. That said, would like to give credit to their EXTREMELY friendly wait staff - many of whom have been there for years. They are always awesome....just have never been spoken to at any establishment the way the bartender barked. Will never try to pull a seat up there again. read more

Ordered out tonight for dinner. I had called because that was the usual way in the past to order for paddlers. I was met with a very rude employee who answered the phone. When I asked to place an order I was then told to do it online in a rude manner. When I arrived to pick up my order I was given half of it and when I let them know I had something else with it I received rolling eyes and attitude. I had the Buffalo chicken salad and requested no tomato's, when I opened my container to enjoy my dinner there is a literal fist full of tomato's. We have been looking forward to going to paddlers as we had been inApril. We love the ambiance, beautiful location. Great food ! We went for dinner on 6/12, Friendly host, we chose to eat outside. Very disappointed with the menu changes. Husband ordered the steak/horseradish wrap, instead of shaved steak it was big chunks of very tough steak. I had been looking forward to their Rueben. No longer on the menu,as most of what l chose in April. I ordered an appetizer special.Loaded potato wedges. It was ok. Our server was very nice. A bit slow. Just very disappointing. read more

Higher end fare at a reasonable price on a scenic setting! Paddlers Pub is located on the south end of Lake Dunmore inside the Waterhouse. This was my first visit with a visiting gal pal. It was 1:30pm and with so many local eateries closed between 2 - 5pm, we decided to give PP a try. They are NOT closed mid-afternoon like others. + Ambiance is a mix of elegant yet comfortable marina pub. Full bar with a handful of seats, tables and high tables with views of Lake D inside and more casual tables on their patio. This place is suitable for families spending a day at the lake, vacationers and business meals. ++ Food is higher end, decent menu with good execution. I had Canoe which had grilled beef tips, bacon wrapped shrimp and stuffed mushrooms with a side Caesar. My gal pal had steamed mussels with garlic toasts and a side salad. The portions were generous and everything was fresh! We both ate everything and enjoyed every morsel. = Service was good. It was rather busy on a holiday weekend and the servers were still attentive to every table. They definitely earned their tips! + Price is reasonable for the quality and quantity. Our bill was just over $40 including the tip. = Parking was fine...waited a couple of minutes for a space. This is an unexpected find in an area that is all too localistic. Our experience at Paddlers Pub was great We went 3 times during our vacation! It's convenient, amazing views and super friendly staff. Like most places around the country right now they seemed short staffed, but that's understandable. The food was really good...the shrimp & spinach salad was fabulous, I ordered all 3 times. That dressing, so good! My family loved everything they got (except the pizza, skip that). The drinks were cold and they have great options for being the only place to get one. Have to give a shout out to the guys running the marina too, they were so accommodating and friendly. The whole atmosphere was just warm and welcoming. We can't wait to return! read more

A few years ago I came here for lunch with my Mami! What an incredible view of Lake Dunmore and the serenity of being on the lake. We both had the lobster rolls-it was probably one of the BEST I have ever had...nice amount of mayo with substantial sized portions of lobster on a soft roll. Awesome restaurant with an even more awesome view and location. I think I've had almost everything on the menu and it is all good! Simple American fair done well freshly made and yummy. Good wood fired pizzas too. Drink and food specials are always good, the paddler's punch will get you hyped. The service can be spotty, however on my last visit everything went smoothly. Nothing better than pulling the boat up to the pub only dock after a long day on the lake and enjoying some quality eats and drinks with friends. read more

Visited here for first time. We live in the area and usually went to Cattails which recently closed. This is no Cattails. I realize it's summer and there's probably a lot of summer visitors, but the place is very, very noisy. They don't take reservations. They don't serve drinks- even mixed drinks- in glasses, but in plastic cups. They don't use plates- everything is served in a basket. Maybe you can get a view of the lake if you visit in the winter, but do t be surprised if you do t get much choice of seating in the summer. No fault with the staff- they were friendly and polite--nor with the food preparedness. What we ordered tasted fine. But this place really should be billed as a pub and grille--NOT a restaurant as there are no really dinner choices. It's all pub food and mostly a noisy bar. We have been eating here for 6+ years, back when it was operated directly by Waterhouses. For the last several years, it has been run by a group that also operates the Cattails restaurant in Brandon, which unfortunately closed earlier this summer. Paddlers has a lot to offer. There biggest detractor has always been the service, most particularly long wait times for food. The summer they seem to be a little more on their game, which is why I'm leaving a 4 star rating. Overall it is probably a 3.5 star restaurant. Here are my rankings for the various elements: Atmosphere: 5 stars. The only place to dine on Lake Dunmore. Views are spectacular and Waterhouse's offers a beach (additional fee) if you want to allow kids to swim/play. Service: 3 stars. They are more on their game this year than in summer's past, but there can still be long wait times, for both tables, service and food delivery. The waitresses and bartenders have always been friendly. When they are busy is when it seems like they really struggle, especially the kitchen. Bar area: 4 stars. Good drink specials and the usually have a couple good craft beers. Paddler's Punch is my go to beverage. Food: 3-4 stars. Depends on the day of the visit. Overall it is 4 stars. Sometime they can be off. The pizza is not very good, stick to the regular menu. Overall, I'd recommend eating here, especially if you've never been. If they are busy, expect longer than normal wait times for about all aspects of your meal. read more

What a great place! Beautiful views of Lake Dunmore, really good and friendly service, healthy portions (especially their $3.50 house salad add-on), and fairly reasonable prices. Homemade blue cheese dressing, plenty of refills of fresh-brewed tea ($1.00 per refill I later found out). What more can you ask for, except free refills on tea (or at least to be told there is a cost). They are losing one star for that. :) read more

Placed an order over the phone to go. When we picked up place was pretty busy, and looked like a good atmosphere. The food however needs some improvement. The pizza tasted like it was frozen pizza. Crust was undercooked and cheese on top was overcooked. We also ordered chicken fingers and the steak and cheese sandwich with fries. They forgot the sauce for our chicken fingers and the fries were super soggy and the sandwich/chicken tasted OK. OK Service, "Eh" food. read more

I'm really sad to write a review that's not favorable about a place we used to love to come to. It started with a sign that appropriately said all patrons must wear a mask, upon entering we noticed the owner was not wearing one, problem number 1. We were waited on by a young lady who mixed up and messed up our simple order several times, problem 2. One of my party of 3 went to use the restroom and noticed 4 of the wait staff just hanging out by the door and neglecting not only us but others as well (a very busy night), problem 4. The food was terrible, cold fries, nachos that were tasteless, greasy wings, and fried haddock on their sandwich that was rock hard. We're not sure what is going on with a place we loved to frequent but will not be going back to for a while and hopefully they will have gotten things together. read more

Service was excellent, which was challenging tonight when many people showed up at the same time. A 45 min wait is understandable for a Friday night, but the seated 1 hr wait for food (after immediately ordering food with drinks) was ridiculous. They never refilled our waters until we had received food. Our family of five ordered two salads (one with barely any chicken), chicken with veggies (and horribly bashed up rice), and a side of potatoes- the food was alright, presentation good, wait was insane, service quite curt and not really warm (it seems understaffed so they were pretty stressed out). My boyfriend and I tried to eat here last night. Clearly, they were understaffed, but did not have the decency to apologize or speak to us and let us know what was going on. We just....waited. We waited until we decided to go into Middlebury and had a great dinner at 2 Brothers. As my bf and I say so many times, it's not brain surgery to run a restaurant decently or at the very least, communicate well with your customers and apologize for a long wait. The food was okay - nothing fabulous but there aren't a lot of options on the lake. Service was also okay but the overall atmosphere was pretty rough. A lot of drunks and rough types made the place less than family friendly, and this was at only 5:30 pm. I'm guessing because many customers walk there, they don't shut them off soon enough. Also the small outdoor seating area has a great view but it's only a few feet away from people stumbling to and from their boats, smoking, walking their dogs, etc. A dog peed about five feet away from us in the middle of the meal. I would only consider going back for takeout. read more
