Great little store they would have just about everything you need. They make excellent sandwiches and delicious bakery items. Coffee is always hot. People are very nice. read more

We stopped in for a sandwich coming down from Canada and we were pleasantly surprised to stumble upon this gem. We ordered a large Italian with everything on it. All of the veggies were fresh as well as the meats from the deli. The sub roll was jam packed with salami, ham, roast beef, and provolone cheese. The mother clucker had sliced oven roasted turkey with a healthy potion of hot bacon and cranberry Mayo. Delicious! There was also a bakery inside and several coolers with a variety of beverages including beer. After the girls made our sandwiches we got two ice teas for our sandwiches and it came to $27. read more

Excellent Subs. Easily feeds two adults with one of there subs. You'll not be disappointed by getting one of them! I recommend the " The Vermonter " read more

I'm going to Preface this review with the fact I'm from New York, and regularly get large subs for lunch and slam the whole thing. That being said, this place has behemoths of a sandwich, I mean the size of my thigh in length and my forearm in width. I finished half of it and was full, very substantial portions for a good price, which is a huge plus for me. One of the better Italians I've had in Vermont as well. The staff was friendly and the store itself was similar to a convenience store, with a good atmosphere, cool AC, and all the chips you could want. Did I mention there's a BAKERY! Would go back again 100% read more

Ordered a grinder, and it was absolutely the largest "small" grinder I've ever ordered. Fantastic amount of meat, cheese and veggies. My go-to place for grinders from here on in. read more

Check the sub rolls you use for mold. Great value and everything was home made, and conveniently located across the border. read more

Mother Hubbard's - Italian sub with everything on white roll. - Delis Near Me - St. Albans, Vermont

It might be a Vermont thing to serve a ton of meat on a grinder as this was the case at another deli. The meat and vegetables were fresh but the bread was not good! It had a weird cardboard texture, that fell apart as I ate it. With all of the meat it really needed more cranberry mayo too. Service was friendly and fast and it was a very clean market. I will give it another try. read more

If you are on a road trip to or from Montreal/Canada, this is a must stop right off the highway. Super friendly people, great assortment of home baked goods, local specialties and .......INCREDIBLE custom made sandwiches. You can choose your own ingredients or order from their daily selections. Bring your appetite- everything is made with fresh ingredients and generous portions. One of the best places we've been in a while! read more

Can't say enough good about the food and the people working at this establishment. Delicious, large portions and decent pricing all served up by a kind and professional staff. I wish they were closer to me but I will drive out of my way to patronize them! It's fun to see all the regulars hanging out and clearly never being rushed out the door. Wonderful place, Highly recommend!! read more

Great food and the cookies are amazing!!! Make sure you get a small size or have a large appetite, because the sandwiches and salads are large read more

They make delicious custom subs here. There were a few good specials and a soup & sandwich deal. Good selection of meats, cheeses & toppings. There are a few small tables spot to sit even though most of the business seems to be to go. The staff was friendly and it was clean. There are also many fresh baked goods. It's around the way so glad the Toyota dealership recommended them. Good spot for a fast lunch. Not super inexpensive (sub was $9) but a fair price. read more

Mother Hubbard's - Small roast beef sub on white from Mother Hubbard. - Delis Near Me - St. Albans, Vermont

This place has the best subs! It's a little out of the way but worth it! The highlight is the fresh bread they use. Most of their options are fresh and made to order. Lots of good snacks, too. read more

Stopped for egg & bacon sandwiches. Made to order, super crispy bacon. Two sandwiches, two OJs, and a coffee. Great value for $15!

The subs are worth the trip!! they dont skimp on the items you put on. the bakery items you cant beat...my favorite is the oatmeal raisin. soft and chewy and huge. People are friendly and helpful. read more

I love this place for a a quick bite. The kitchen crew of ladies are fast and friendly. They really turn up the charm and service at lunchtime. Lines are long (for good reason) but they handle it with ease. The bakery is killer-diller! Have you ever had a millionaire cookie? Whoa! Gotta try one. read more

Delicious food and great customer service! The bread was delicious and the sandwiches are packed with meat/toppings. Highly recommend!

We thought this was going to be a nice little market with homemade bread. There is homemade bread but very little else and small selection. More like a slightly better gas station market. The sandwiches were so so. Definitely better than packaged since they are homemade. There are also some small handmade crafts like bird houses! read more

Eat here all the time. Great subs. Tons of meat and huge. Very nice people as well. Baked goods are great. Salads are also awesome. Highly reccommend. read more

Meh, First few times were good. Now, its lost... something. Flavor? Fillings? Personality of the work staff? They seem annoyed to have someone come in. I've returned to a old go-to favorite: Tatros. read more

I am pretty good at pigging out, but I couldn't finish my "whole" sub for lunch. Very good, very filling, great value.

Service is terrible no greeting upon entering sandwich maker had an attitude also ordered a large soup got a small although I paid for large. Sadly has gone downhill with new owners read more

We stopped by lunch. The ladies are ultra fast and the sandwiches are ultra good. We are very happy with this deli.

St. Albans has some decent sub shops. Hometown, for instance, and Beverage Mart. But the best sub shops in the revitalized Rail City don't have places to sit, nor do they have baked goodies like Mother Hubbard's The subs are massive. Huge. Giant. And not overly pricey. Service is friendly and helpful. For taste, size, cost (and with tables to eat at) Mother Hubbard's is the best sub shop in St. A. It's a little out of the way, is all. read more

We heard great reviews from friends and Yelp of this place and were excited to try it out for lunch. (We heard from someone that they have new owners.) From the outside it looked promising but the inside the menu was limited (just lists random cold meats). The soup is good but sandwiches were like a local version of Subway. The bakery items looked nice though. Ultimately, it's like a deli in a gas station. read more

Such a great place to stop. Sandwiches are a work of art. Cayden who owns the place is selling fresh beef from his farm and corn. Highly recommend stopping here. read more

The staff is always fantastic! The sandwhiches are to diiiieee for and the ice coffee is always fresh.

Let me first say it was one of the best danishes I have had, but it was overshadowed by the extremely poor customer service. When I first got my danish I went and grabbed a soda from the cooler and waited at the check out for the cashier to come back inside. Really it was no bug deal to wait. I paid for both items and went and sat down in the area to eat. My spouse and daughter were there also. They each paid for their own items. As they became ready. When we left the cashier yelled across the room that I didn't pay for my drink. I explained that I did pay, remember I was waiting for you to write something in your book when you came back inside. Her following comments made me feel like she didn't believe me and it became a standstill. I kept defending myself that I had paid and she was extremely rude. Never acknowledged the interaction earlier, so I then left with my family. . I pulled away and it really bothered me. I then remembered that I paid with my debit card. I turned back around to show her my bank account for the pending charge. When I showed it to her she had an attitude and said there are a Lot of people that come and go. I told her that when she questioned my integrity I felt like I needed to prove I paid for it because I was never given a receipt. She continued to make inappropriate comments instead of just saying sorry, my mistake. The cashiers lack of customer service skills and her ability to make me feel Like a online criminal will ensure that I never visit that establishment again. read more

We are at the end of our vacation and didn't want to cook so we decided to eat out. We discovered this place on a day trip 4yrs ago and thought that since the subs were so good back then let's try it again.... well nothing has changed, still great subs! I would highly recommend this place. read more

They make a pretty good sandwich and wrap here. They have been better and they seem to be in need of a serious clean up. It's a beautiful place to enjoys a snack or a cup of coffee. They also need to keep a better eye on their front counter. read more

What a great find! My hubby and I each ordered a chicken salad sandwich on homemade bread. The chunks of fresh chicken breast were huge and the sandwiches were piled high. Between the chicken and fresh veggies, we had to take 1/2 of our sandwiches home, and we were very hungry when we arrived. The place is right off of Rt 89 on a side street that could get easily passed. They also have incredible baked goods. We couldn't decide on just one thing so we grabbed a little of everything. Cookies, scones, donuts, brownies, lemon squares, oh my! Definitely a place we would visit again. read more

I've only stopped in here for lunch a couple of times and have enjoyed the fresh breads they use. The sandwiches are overall OK for a small deli. Maple ham is fantastic. Soups are also nothing amazing but taste fresh, no soggy noodles. Service is decent but tends to the "silent and efficient" mode when busy. It's a sizeable interior with room to sit and eat even though the rest of the place is mainly a convenience store. My wife got a bit ill from lunch the last time so I think we have avoided ever since but it is worth a stop in and try. Ample parking as well. read more

Great pastries, fresh coffee, and yummy sandwiches on homemade bread (try a bacon breakfast sandwich or the maple turkey and bacon on their homemade oatmeal molasses bread). Love how it is just outside of the city. Not much of a wait for service. Fresh doughnuts & breads are amazing!

Really great sandwiches! and HUGE!!! I typically get the Italian but I've never even been close to being disappointed in anything that I've ordered. Now, when I say the portions are huge, I mean hugeeeee. I ordered a full sized one day because I was starving...I got maybe 1/2 way through and was spent. I ended up eating the rest for dinner, though. The staff is very friendly. It's always a pleasure to stop in! read more
