Well we're finding out that everything is pretty seasonal in this area and places close pretty early. However, we got a nice surprise with Stone's Throw being open later than most of the things in the area. First off the staff was nice and pleasant. Bathrooms are nice, the atmosphere reminds me of a 1990s coffeehouse. They serve espresso but stop serving it at a certain time of the day, which is heart breaking for Italians which is an automatic go to after we have pizza. But you are probably more interested in The Pizza? Yes....yes the pizza is delicious, absolutely loved it. We ordered three 12" personal size pizzas 1. Sausage and onion 2. Sausage, mushrooms and pepperoni 3. The B.L.T. Should be The B.A.T. (They use Arugula, not lettuce thank goodness) delicious if I lived here it would be my automatic go to. They do a great job on their pizza dough it really tastes great. It's not chewy or tough which a lot of pizza places have a hard time with when making dough. If you are vacationing or if you're lucky enough to live in the area. You need to get here and eat some pizza. Stone's Throw is the kind of small-town pizza spot that thrives on chaos--and last night, chaos was the special of the day. The staff was incredibly friendly and clearly doing their best, but they were running behind on nearly every order. Our pie came out half-burnt, with pineapple only making a guest appearance on two slices, as if it had stage fright. The salad we ordered was a no-go, since they were out of key ingredients, and the whole kitchen felt like it was stuck in fast-forward and slow motion at the same time. That said, there's heart here. You can tell the crew cares, even while being completely overwhelmed. Stone's Throw might not have delivered perfection, but it certainly delivered an experience--one I hope smooths out with a little more organization behind the counter. read more

This little place packs a good sized punch. Cozy atmosphere, and it stays relatively busy nonstop. I enjoyed the make your own pizza style. Lots of options to choose from, and all seemed like super fresh ingredients. It needs more staff for sure. These two girls were left on their own and were visibly shaken up from it. Excellent pizza in a cozy space. The Elote pizza is amazeballs - couldn't stop eating it! Everyone else loved the plain cheese pizza - great sauce, delicious thin crust, perfectly baked! Great Caesar salad as well. If you're in the area - this is well worth a stop! read more

I'm between a 4 and 5, but there are not a ton of options around this area, and this one beat out the others on a few ways. Young friendly and competent staff, nice vibe and decor, good music playing, salads were fantastic, and pizza was well above average if not 9-10 range. Great dinner after skiing. Had bottles of wine as well as beer. I'll be back next year! As others mentioned, the pizza is expensive, but they can hit a home run with it, I don't mind paying, specially during a vacation! We spent twice as much at a place the night before and this was the better dinner. read more

Okay, if you hild your breath and druve through Fairfax without stopping...you could totally make it! That is how tiny "downtown" Fairfax is. With that being said, there are quit a few pizza places to select for options within the town itself. Out of the pizza establishments this one is my favorite. You certainly pay for what you ask for (yummy pizza) but keep that in mind. $$$ The establishment used to be a family bakery. They are hitting this business off with a bang though! 3.5 stars (a 3 for me, a 4 for my partner) We stopped here after driving scenic 108 and the service was quick and accommodating for our various food allergies. They're conveniently located across from a small, burgeoning park with picnic tables which was the perfect spot to enjoy our pizzas! My partner got the Slow Burn which he LOVED. I got the Psuedosau which was just ok. I found the crust to be a bit bland, the toppings on both pizzas (especially his) to be very sparse (especially for the price) , and the vegan cheese lacking much texture and flavor. In fact my whole pizza lacked texture... Oh the plus side, i LOVED their creative menu options and especially that they have a vegan white sauce which, along with the pickled Serrano were, the stars of my pizza. I wouldn't intentionally return but if i were in the area and needed a quick, filling bite I'd grab some. read more

Called in an order for two large pizzas, 3 extra fixings' on each. My daughter picked up the order so didn't look at the bill carefully--in this part of Vermont you trust people.. Cost for 2 large pizzas: $27 each, $54. !!! On top of that, they charged a 3% fee because I used a credit card and, without even asking me, an 18% 'tip' ($9.12). ??? A tip for picking up a pizza? No wait staff welcomed us, sat us down, gave us some water, etc., and then delivered the pizza to the car. So what was the tip for? Now to the pizza. The 'extras' were hardly that: counted a few mushrooms, few small pieces of pepperoni, etc. Barely visible 'fixins' but a good way to jack up profit. But more disappointing, the pizza dough was very thin, soft and mushy--- had to pick it up with a spatula to serve and use a knife and fork to eat. And one pizza was burned on the bottom, making half of it inedible. For this I paid $70.20!!! There are much better pizza places in the area. read more

I was happy we stopped here on a whim! I really have wanted a good pizza for a couple of weeks now. This place met that expectation! We got a basic pepperoni with extra cheese and light sauce. The sauce was a bit heavier than light but boy it was good! The sauce flavorful, the cheese perfectly stringy, melty with a great flavor. We ate the whole thing and went home with no leftovers. Loved the vibes and employees seem pretty chill. There isn't much seating but it seems like its more of a call ahead and take it home place. There were cans of soda plus plastic cups full of drinks (not sure what sorts of drinks) to take home as well. We will definately be back! read more

These guys have done a great job opening a boutique pizza place in Fairfax. Today we enjoyed a brunch for Mother's Day. They had very creative cocktails for this special day and their pizza was or of this world. Don't go here expecting your traditional pepperoni pizza all greasy and cheesy, go here expecting something wonderful and perfectly balanced flavor wise. I give them a 5 for atmosphere, it's welcoming, warm, and tied together. They get a 5 for the food, they've figured out the best blends and took the time to understand their trade. Five for staff, friendly, social and receptive of input. And 5 for cleanliness. From the entrance to the floor, from the bathroom to the main room, it was all very clean and well kept. Parking is limited but the place also doesn't have a ton of seating so get there early or order take-out. Great job folks, we'll be back. read more

This place is great! Our family had a very nice meal here on a busy Friday night. We sat at the bar because this is the kind of place where you take what you can get if there is a spot to sit. The tractor seat bar stools are a nice touch. We ordered a Caesar salad to start and I should have gotten my son one as well because he ate most of it. The salads are small but it had great flavor. We ordered a half pepperoni half sausage and onion for the kids and a hunter for us. The Hunter is SO good. Pork belly is delicious and the rosemary is the perfect compliment to the sweet and salty.
