I don't care for yelp, but I signed up specifically to post 5 stars for Rob and his gang. Customer for decades now, first time getting the shepherds pie, and oh lord. Made me jump through yelp hoops, absolutely delicious as all his offerings always have been read more

We've been customers of Rob's for years and his dad's before him! They're friendly and go out of their way to make sure everything is perfect, be it cutting to order, offering expertise on the best way to prepare your meat. We also raised our own pigs and Bobs processed them to order. Friends always commented on how good our ham, chops and bacon were! Rob would guide us to get the most out of our livestock he processed and at an extremely fair price! We order our holiday ham, Turkey , prime rib roast and leg of lamb from him every year and are always delighted with the delicious meal made with his meats! Little local specialty markets like Bobs meat market are worth going out of your way to support! It makes a difference to be greeted by your first name with a genuine smile and superior service! I recommend Bob's Meat Market, owner and staff! read more

As a lifetime visitor to St Albans ( Way back to Kamp Kill Kare boys camp days) it is always a pleasure to buy our meats for "camp" dinners at the lake from Bob's. Bob is a friendly, experienced and thoughtful business owner. Each and every customer is greeted and served with such class. He personally brings each order to the register up front for his customers from his out of this world hot dogs and supreme ground beef to hos best steaks. He makes you feel really appreciated. We continue to return year after year to Bob's. He treats his customers like gold! Our sincere thanks again in 2023. You deserve every bit of your business's longevity and success!! read more

I keep meaning to review this place, but forget over and over again. Mostly because I wanted to add the store's hours before making a review. Back when I was a little girl, I can faintly remember coming here. As a adult, I come back and make it a weekly occurrence! Recently, I've been getting meat on a stick - beef teriyaki, sweet n sour chicken and today I'm trying out the chicken teriyaki. During the winter, I'll get chicken cordon blue and loaded mashed potatoes. They have these wonderful chunks of cheese in the loaded mashed potatoes that make me quite happy, the last few times I got the potatoes they didn't have the cheese chunks and it made me sad. I love cheesy bursts of goodness in my potatoes! Often times there will be local produce, baked good and charity donation goods at the counter, last time I got some fresh green beans. Once, they had cupcakes a girl made to help her raise money for a trip abroad for school (I believe, don't remember completely). They are pretty well stocked with Ben and Jerry's, Hershey ice cream bars at low, low prices (like 35 cents). A small variety of groceries and alcohol. They have a deli where they have daily specials and make sandwiches, I haven't had the sandwiches or daily specials. Service is pleasant and friendly. The real star here is Bob, he is a pretty awesome guy, friendly and upbeat. Talks to you as if you were one of his friends. Take a short trip off main street and stop in to get your meat for dinner tonight! read more

Bob's Meat Market - Some deals plus hours at the bottom! - Meat Shops Near Me - Saint Albans, Vermont

Bob's Meat Market is all about the meat. Sure, you could drop in and pick up some beer or a loaf of that great local "Guy In The Park" bread. But we're here for the meat. The town is lucky to have a butcher. Supermarkets have butchers working in the back but they don't often avail themselves to questions about special items or cuts. When I stopped in at Bob's to ask about london broil, he brought out a whole side of beef and cut the best pieces off it for me. Bob also makes many specialty items, like stuffed chops and chicken breasts, chicken pot pies, marinated kabobs, you name it. He also has access to local sources of poultry, such as capons. I mentioned the bread before. Some guy in St Albans makes great crusty loaves, rolls and other baked goods daily and sells them at Bob's Meat Market. This is excellent bread. But I'm mostly at Bob's for the meat. read more

Great place to get the best meat in Vermont. His catering is superb! I have been there for lunch which is phenomenal.

This is one of those tiny gems in town that I'm happy to have found! You won't find Bob's in a strip mall, on a busy corner or next to a gas station. It's smack dab in the residential section of the Fairfield Street area. Quiet and nondescript it has your very basic "family owned market" vibe. Small amount of parking out front and large front windows displaying ads for specials that day or week. Walking in, you get the impression it's just another small convenience grocer with a few tiny aisles and a refrigerator section. But all of the real business is in the back with the meat counter. I've stopped in a few times and have come away with a wonderful array of shish kabobs already nicely marinated, marinated beef and chicken skewers and potato salads. They also carry huge steaks which I have yet to sample but plan to this summer. Staff is very friendly, helpful and talkative. Prices of course are a bit higher than your larger chain stores. But this is the kind of grocer I respect and will be willing to pay more to get fine quality. Never been disappointed in any of the meats or salads here. He also carries plenty of pork and bacon. All of it looks freshly cut and handled with care. I strongly recommend you give it a try for your next grill night. I'm pretty sure you'll be back for more. read more

Bobs nothing but the best great prices and great products thanks from the tdi towing crew!

If your ever in the area and need to stock up on meat for your vacation don't look Any further. It's a small little meat market but not only do they have a great selection, the staff (Bob included) is extremely nice and accommodating. Everything I have bought has been top quality. The ground beef made some of the best burgers I have ever had. They have in house bacon that is amazing. The store is rounded off with a decent selection of beer and enough vegetables to make a few good sides. You won't be disappointed, I really wish I had a place this good close to home.. read more

It is very rare to find any business where you can use the word always. Bob's is that business. I've been shopping at Bob's for years. More and more over the past couple of years. Always plenty of high quality choices available. Always friendly and helpful. Always ready to custom cut any meat you want. Always interested in how it will be prepared and ready with a valuable suggestion if you want one. Always great value for the price. read more

Not what you think. The meat is just about to turn. The housekeeping practices are lacking and the storage and handling methods are not to health codes regulations. I have actually returned ribs (which come pre packaged) because they were bad. I was told that it was due to some gasses that the pork releases, but I have bought packaged ribs in many grocery stores and not had this problem. That said, did you see notice my mention of the ribs being packaged? Bob's obtains their meats from the same providers that bring meat to your neighborhood grocery store. That's right, Price Chopper and Hannaford have the same supplier. And people pay more here - WHY? Yes, they get larger pieces of meat the they "cut' - just like the guy in the grocery store behind the special meat counter - but they are no better at it, not more trained ore having a better quality. Their meat turns because it moves slower and is therefore kept longer. You get better at the big places - better pricing, better handling, better overall. As for the meat that is cut here - employees don't have to wear gloves or hair nets when preparing food. The fresh bread selection that used to be a big draw is gone as the owner doesn't like having to be bothered with a call daily to see what is needed. (How many businesses call you to see what your order will be? ) Other locally sourced items are also discontinued for similar reasons. They were the best part of the store, now they are far and few between. The icing on the cake, though, I have heard the yelling and comments that are degrading to women come directly from the owner's mouth. I used to think this was a Vermont gem, tucked off the beaten path and worth my business. Now that I know better I am disappointed and had to post something to let others know - this place is not what it appears to be. read more
