They carry a nice variety of items including some I can't find unless I go downtown. Usually clean and friendly.

Do not shop here. Extremely rude staff and sky-high prices. I don't have much else to say other than take my word for it.

Not enough assortment of milk products. Not enough assortment of dairy items.. thinking perhaps they have an issue with cows as a whole.

For the Burlington area, City Market remains a great place to shop, with some mainstream options as…read morewell as significant natural/organic/artisan options. That being said, this is the original and smaller of their two stores in Burlington. I needed two varieties dried chili peppers, common to find in New York City, and had checked out a variety of other stores, finding Pasilla at the larger City Market Flynn Avenue shop. They didn't have the missing one I needed, Costeno, they did have something that worked as a substitute. They seem to have many more dried mushroom items than dried chili peppers. My main issue with this location is the amount of parking. It's tight.

When we were in town we had a Suite with a fully stocked kitchen so we found this grocery store…read morenear the downtown strip. It was similar to a Sprouts or Erewon. I was able to get everything I needed and more. They had a great wine selection which was perfect since I wanted to put a gift basket together for Joe's brothers whom we were visiting next for the final part of our trip. I was warned that it was expensive but I didn't really think it was that bad and was curious about it being a co-op store. I was able to get everything to make an Italian pasta dinner with Marinara. It was so nice to be able to have a homemade dinner in our suite. That's the thing about traveling is you get so weary of eating out every meal. This place was a great little grocery store just off the main strip of the Burlington downtown.

As with most Trader Joe's, staff are super friendly. This appears to be the only one in the area, so they can easily sell out on a certain item... but they quickly restock. Always when I'm visiting family in Burlington, I stop by to pick up my favorites. Note, on this occasion, they have a local "specialty" beverage section with Mead from Vermont! (Wow!) My only issue here, since this is the Burlington area's only TJ's, the parking lot is always crowded and it can be a challenge getting back on Dorset from Garden with the stoplight.

I encountered the rudest cashier on Saturday at TJ's in South Burlington. I was carrying a hand…read morebasket that was very full. When I approached the register the cashier was ringing up a sale from a wheeled cart. I started to slip the retractable shelf out so I could place my basket on it. Greg yelled "don't!" I was startled. As he pushed the shelf back inside its storage space, dismissively he said; "you can put that on the floor if you want to." I didn't want to. He then deliberately slowed his pace of checking out the guest in front of me, as if to elongate the amount of time I would stand there holding a very heavy basket. (I'm a 71 year old woman, by the way.) Apparently, I'd broken some unspoken "Greg Rule." When it was my turn, he asked if I needed a bag, I responded they were in the basket. He made me repeat it and then rolled his eyes. As he started to ring up my purchases, he tossed each item toward its resting spot. Item after item piled up. I was not going to bag my groceries. Eventually, a manager approached to assist with bagging. I stood silently. Neither offered the familiar friendly exchange I have enjoyed on every other occasion in that store. No kind words or interactions. Just a hostile employee whom I had obviously offended in some unknown way. I won't stop shopping at Trader Joe's. I will however look out for that guy and avoid him at all costs. Final thoughts for Greg... Do better. Oh, and grow up.

Prices were a little more than I'd like but not bad. You can definitely do a full shop here - this is a full service supermarket. [Review 18497 overall - 96 in Vermont - 2019 of 2022.]

Put a yellow plastic divider between the woman in front of me putting her groceries on the belt. The cashier #1 told me to take my groceries off the belt. I said no. So I pushed them back. He proceeded to tell me to put them back in my cart. I was so pissed I threw them in my cart and went to self check out. I have never ever been told to do that in all my years. How rude and disgusting attitude from the cashier. Maybe Shaws should retrain their employees how to treat customers. Why do they have dividers for anyway. So went to self check out and my screen froze. Kristin the manager came to help I told her what had transpired. She quote unquote said "well I didn't witness it". I said you are the manager I'm reporting it to you. Who the hell says that to a customer? She never followed thru with my complaint at all, just fluffed it off. I have been going there for years and have heard thru other people this store has gone downhill drastically. They NEVER have carts available when walking in always empty. Where are the damned carts? When asked where are they the employee says "I dunnno" What a load of crap. I spend hundreds of dollars there on groceries. Well after this I will spread the word like others have. Customer is always right? Not at this Shaws. Terrible disgusting behaviour from employees.

The hot bar and Sushi options are pretty good. The General Tso Boneless Tenders are addicting!…read moreAlso, try the Cape Cod Frozen pizza. Sooo goood. The service is ok.

RE: Hannaford, University Mall, SOBU…read more.. Where do I begin? It starts in the parking lot where there's a license plate reader (that pole with the cameras and blinking lights) which also records your car and it's characteristics (stickers, dents, etc. They then match that data with your payment method in the store after recording your face using the three-point system. Distance between your eyes, and down to your mouth. This is BAD already. They sell this information to God knows who, not to mention, the police. Entering Hannafords lot is where tracking your movements begin. There are video screens showing you moving about the aisles--every aisle. This is used as intimidation. You see your pretty face in HD at the cash registers also. Self checkout? You save Hannaford money by doing their work. The reward? I was stopped at the door today by a girl who says "I need to see your receipt." OK... Everything checked out correctly. The girl says "Oh that happens sometimes." No apology, by the way. They treat customers like they're idiots. I know that I was stopped because one of the lackeys in loss-prevention watching the video console decided I looked like a good candidate to harass. There's no anti-theft devices on their groceries. Where would they put them--inside the overpriced chicken quarters I paid for??? The community at-large accepts this invasion of privacy and is happy to act as a free cashier for the store with self-checkout. So yeah, I can see where they feel that we're suckers. But again, I just loved being stopped at the door after paying for my groceries. Should you ever be wrongfully detained, take out your phone and call the police and have the officer ask for the video showing your "suspicious behavior." Nothing will come of it, but you can disrupt their store operation, making it expensive to have improperly stopped you. Dear Hannaford, please accept my middle finger as a gift to you, and as a sweetener I'm transferring all of my precriptions to Price Chopper/Market32. With the prices you charge, it's you who are the crooks. Stop projecting... Try to be sure before you stop customers at the door, you half-witted morons. Two words for you... Lowes, Walmart, and Home Depot also have these privacy-violating technologies on their properties. Too bad I can't buy all of my groceries reliably online from an online retailer outside of Vermont... I would if I could. One more time: TWO WORDS FOR HANNAFORD!
