While there was an over 40 minute wait for our seats on a weekend around brunch, the wait was well worth it! I ordered the Corn Beef Hash and the biscuit was so flakey and HUGE. We came here for breakfast, and my girlfriend had eaten half of her pancake and wanted to try her friends French toast. She took one bite started gagging ran to the bathroom started puking all of her food back up. I told the waitress she said to me that it would be taken off our bill and then we got to the front desk to pay the owner and the waitress came to us and said that they had been serving food all morning and nobody else had reacted like that, and that it was us, so I paid the full bill we came out to the car and her friend immediately threw up on the ground. I don't feel so good myself and am very nauseous and shaky I would not recommend eating here to anyone. very poorly taken care of by the owner, if someone is throwing up off your food when they had eaten nothing else that morning they should get compensated in full for the thing they had eaten. one star I will never come here again read more

Great diner experience. They were mercifully one of the only places open for breakfast on NY day and we just happened to see their open sign while driving by. We did not have a reservation but they were so nice and able to accommodate us right away. The staff was friendly and very efficient. We were visiting from out of town and we received a recommendation to try this place out. We were very happy with the recommendation. Everything we ate was amazing. We started off with the Loaded Home Fries Plate. We both loved it and ate every bite. I ordered the Bacon Vermont Cheddar Burger. Both the burger and the fries were absolutely delicious. My husband ordered the Vermonter and he really enjoyed it. If we are ever in the area again we would definitely go back. We highly recommend. read more

Stopped here on a busy Sunday morning with one of my brothers, passing through. Unfortunately, this place left a lot to be desired from what I am used to. This place was absolutely mobbed and one can tell just how starved for good quality breakfast places this area must be, given how busy this place was. Ordered a Western Omelet with home fries and toast. My bud ordered a Crab Benny. He noticed right off the bat his Crab had tuna mixed in and my meal's home fries seemed like it came from a frozen bag. They were these small, sorry little cubes and the portion was laughable. Went for lunch with some friends, and immediately we all loved the ambience inside. Service was extremely friendly, and casual and definitely made us feel comfortable and at home. Our waitress was completely accepting of our separate checks, and to go orders placed throughout the meal, which we really appreciated. I ordered the Vermonter Skillet, and some of the other items ordered were the Belgian waffle, the grilled hot dog, grilled cheese, and the sausage gravy and biscuit, and all were 5 out of 5 stars. This is a cute LITTLE place but obviously really popular. The waiters chat with a lot of folks like family or regulars. Athens Diner is a cool little retro kind of diner with good food and cozy vibe. We came here on the recommendation of a local (at a gas station!), and it was delicious. We dropped in on a busy Sunday morning at 10am and waited about 20min to sit. On the advice of our server, I ordered the Irish Benedict, which has corned beef hash instead of Canadian bacon; my husband got the corned beef hash & eggs plus a biscuit, and our little got pancakes (with real maple syrup, obviously) and sausage. Everything was delicious, even the coffee. Our server was friendly and just the right amount of attentive, and we were in and out of there quickly, which is a bonus when traveling with kiddos. Standard, classic diner food. Fast and efficient and yummy. What more could you want? They require masks while you wait and when you move around inside. So don't forget yours. Staff/service was great, the menu was varied enough, what failed was the quality of the food. I ordered a western omelette w/sausage instead of cheese which came with an english muffin and homefries and a side of sausage links. The Omelette had no cheese for half of it and then almost all cheese the other half. The homefries didn't taste like they had been cooked all the way through, the english muffin was decent though. After a few bites of the omelette I started feeling a bit of nausea, when I tried the sausage link this made that feeling 10x worse. I only ate one sausage link and 3/4 of the omelette before I just put my fork down because i was worried I'd make myself sick if I kept eating. Mind you, I don't have any dietary restrictions or issues that would have caused this and this is the first time it's ever happened to me at a diner or restaurant. I'm not sure if it's something they cook the food in or what, but I will not be returning. read more

This diner was across the road from where I was staying. Decided to have breakfast here, which ended up to be an amazing idea. It's a diner, but a Greek influence to it by the decor, and menu items. Our server was friendly. The one thing that I thought was weird was when my boyfriend had ordered "coffee, black, no room for cream," the server looked at him funny and then blankly. She came back two minutes later with a cup of coffee, and a plate full of cream. Odd. Food was great. It came out quicker than I have ever gotten any breakfast. Everything tasted fresh also. Always love athens I stop frequently and get take out on the way to work. The staff is friendly especially Megan I guess I've become a regular so when I call and ask what the special is I hear Megan say your scramble (which is bacon sausage cheddar eggs homefries and white toast). If not I get the all meat skillet however I only eat half and toss the other half since it fills me up quickly. For the price portions are very generous. Before covid I never tipped but these days I certainly do and so should! Every place is short staffed so remember be kind! read more

Highly recommend! Been up in Vermont for a couple months and this is the best breakfast we have found so far. Great quality food and the service is exceptional. We got the biscuits and gravy which you could add eggs to if you like. Fresh made biscuits very soft center with toasty exterior, then the gravy was the perfect consistency with super fresh sausage chunks that were decent in size. Then the corned beef hash was clearly made with love, genuine fresh corned beef was in this. None of that canned macerated meat but rather quality chunks of flavorful corned beef with potatoes. A side of French toast was good as well, not my favorite as it was thin toast and I prefer thicker Texas toast, but still yummy. My boyfriend got the all meat scramble which had ham, sausage and bacon over home fries and he got two eggs Sunny side up. So good!!! Lastly we got a single chocolate chip pancake that was so fluffy in the center but perfectly done. Even the coffee was good, a medium roast with lots of flavor, not your average diner coffee that has been sitting for too long and now stale, this was perfectly made coffee. This is by far the best breakfast you will find here. I can not recommend enough, will definitely be back. The price was even reasonable. 50$ for everything! This is more to my liking. Perched up on a small hill, the view here from any of their booth seats is great, you can see all the Green Mountains of Vermont in the distance. This is a real diner, with the chrome, formica tables with grommet chairs, a counter with round chrome stools and of course, typical diner food. You'll find all the old stand-bys here, burgers, fries, pancakes, eggs and bacon breakfasts, sandwiches, soups and pies. However, as you can see by the name, there is a bit of a Greek twist here and items from Greek menus can be found here as well including loukaniko, the traditional Greek sausage and omelets with Greek feta cheese. If you look around, the diner is also decorated with pictures of iconic Greek historical sites like the Parthenon. I came and had breakfast here one morning and it was wonderful. The waitress was super-friendly and chatty, the skillet breakfast I ordered was tasty and extremely filling. I didn't need to eat for the rest of the day. With great food, very decent prices, friendly, down to earth service, great views and easy parking, what more do you need? read more

My only gripe was the steak (from steak and eggs) was really, really, really gristly--only 35% of it was edible--however, everything else was fantastic. I know Athens is almost always awesome--and I will be back many times--on the last visit the steak was not up to par, but everything else exceeded, so four stars.
