This place nailed it!! Blueberry pancakes were superb. Hot juicy blueberries and local Vermont syrup. I, however, after 25 years in the food and beverage industry, created my own sandwich. Nothing short of perfection. Brie cheese, smoked turkey, bacon and Granny Smith apples. All in a panini made with fresh sourdough bread. Staff is courteous and the establishment is clean.

Good Eats! Friendly attentive staff. The Cook even came over to double check Hubby was good with a particular item on his order. We'll definitely come back again on our next trip to VT.

Ate breakfast here. Food is fresh, made from scratch! No microwave at this eatery! The portion was enough that my husband and I shared. Returned for breakfast the following day

Empty plates equal success. The short stack was a little much for our kiddo (size of them are great)!

Food is delicious and fresh. Pork carnitas omelete was full of veggies and pork. Chorizo migas was yummy. Pancakes were great for our kiddo. We would come back frequently if we lived nearby. When we come back this way, we will stop by again.

The lunch is great and the breakfast was amazing, it looked great, but the wait time was 20 minutes.

Excellent place for breakfast!! 10 out of 10 for the bacon and the French toast! Great coffee and very friendly staff!

You order at the counter when you get there. My girlfriend and I shared homefries and they were pretty bland. I got the chorizo Benedict which was good! My girlfriend likes her breakfast dish as well. Overall, it was a mediocre breakfast but a good place if you're in a rush or trying to grab a quick bite.

Firebird Cafe is a reliably good cafe for brunch/ lunch or breakfast in Essex. It is one of the best brunch options in Essex. (As evidenced by the crowded parking lot and packed seating). You seat yourself, order by the cashier and the food is brought to you according to your number. I've been here a couple times with K and found the food to be better and better each time. We met a friend post holidays for brunch. This place was not that busy around 10 am but filled up around 11:30 am. I ordered a coffee and breakfast sandwich on croissant. K had a chorizo fresco (omelette with chorizo with avocado and non-spicy green chile sauce). My bacon egg and cheese croissant sandwich was perfectly executed. The croissant was toasted crispy, the bacon was perfectly crunchy and the eggs were soft and mildly runny. I loved it. The only item lacking was the chipotle sauce: it lacked spiciness or smokiness. The food is American/New Mexican and reminded me of food in Santa Fe. Specifically the Large food portions, green chile sauce, chipotle sauce and great chorizo. The green chile sauce however was not roasted or spicy at all, which was a little disappointing but maybe that's what the locals like. Also the chipotle sauce was not smoky or spicy. I would definitely return for the delicious coffee and great food. Just don't expect the sauces to be similar to that of New Mexican cuisine.

Save yourself stay away, far away. I would have better off going to Taco Bell. Whatever you do don't order the fish tacos.

It's a small spot with a classic mom-and-pop vibe, which we really enjoyed. We ordered the yam tacos and a chicken quesadilla. The service was friendly, though the food did take quite a while to come out. Once it did arrive, everything was very good and definitely hit the spot. Overall, we liked the food and would return. However, make sure to check your bill before leaving. We didn't notice until afterward that our total for tacos, a quesadilla, and two waters came to $44.02. My husband ordered his quesadilla plain and asked if the usual toppings (salsa, guacamole, and sour cream) came with it and could be put on the side. We were told they were included--but we were still charged extra for each topping, adding almost $5 to our bill. While the food and service were good and we'd go back, being charged extra for items that were supposed to come with the meal was disappointing. Just be sure to review your check closely so you don't end up with unnecessary upcharges.

My neighbors & I are woken by blaring contemporary music. I'm not a fan but let's be honest it's probably not considered the most banging music of all time. The car will be on its way soon & I can go back to sleep. Right? Nope! The music continues blaring, so I'm up now. I see a text from my neighbor. He's pretty unhappy and reports the music is coming from a food truck. One of the gentlemen in my building went outside to investigate where the music was coming from & discovered it's the El Gato Cantina food truck bumping his music from a sub. He says a guy working in the truck told him to eff-off. I guess contemporary music can be banging cuz it's certainly rocking my bedroom windows. And the people who vibe out to it aren't calm sweet souls. It's pouring rain, I get my dog suited up & we head outside for a morning wee. Upon walking outside I realize just how loud this sound system is & I decide to kindly ask them to turn down the music. Maybe a female will get a different response. I knock on the open front door. There's a man holding a broom. I ask "Can u plz turn that down, it's not even 9AM sir" This rude entitled jerk waves his hand at me as if I'm a gnat, and responds. " yeah yeah, get the F out of here." I respond with, "sir This is our neighborhood and you woke many of us up can u plz turn it down." I walked away. I have no desire to hang around to see what other profanity he's planning to throw my way. I waited a good 10 minutes or so and when the music kept blaring, I stood in front of his truck and called SAPD. He turned it down before the cruiser got there. But seriously? This is how your business treats our community? You expect us to want anything to do with your business? Honestly, stay in Burlington/Essex with that nonsense. Saint Albans at 7:30 AM on a Saturday morning is not the place for you. This business is not in it to serve our community. I highly recommend giving this food truck a pass.

Made my way here for dinner one night. They have a super cute patio but I went inside to sit at the bar. Bartender was great and the menu looked amazing! I then followed with tacos - the al pastor (which they said they sold out of all the time) and the special sweet potato/jalapeno taco, and a paloma. This has got to be the fastest service I have ever experienced lol! Legit 2 min after placing my elote order, it came right out. And the same thing happened with my tacos so I'm glad I spaced them and didn't order everything at once haha. The elote was delicious as were the tacos! Just look for the shiney silver exterior. We got there late around 8:30 PM and were quickly reminded that they closed at 9. The place was hopping and even though they were in a hurry to get us moving we didn't have our order taken for atleast 10-15 minutes. We started with chips and salsa and my son said "it was the best salsa he's ever had". The chips were fresh, tasty and gluten free. I got a chorizo buritto and it was large, filled with beans and rice and great tasting. My son went with the chicken enchiladas which he devoured quickly. I believe my wife ordered their enchiladas. Overall, the food was great and flavorful, service wasn't the best and we felt rushed to leave. The kicker, and this may be due to the close proximity to Church St, is our bill was around $80 (which included two drinks). It's way to pricey for some chicken, rice and beans, etc.
