I finally made it to Duke's and I wasn't disappointed! An impromptu night out led us to River's. Luckily, Duke's wasn't very busy that night. We were sat in the new seating area adjacent to the River and the view was gorgeous and I had excellent light for photos. Our server was very professional and kind. We started out with cocktails and I asked if they had blue cheese stuffed olives, and he said he would stuff some for me - score! They were delicious too. Hand stuffed is the way to go. I had a perfect dirty martini and my sister tried one of the signature cocktails. Both were great! They also had a pretty affordable wine list. We started with the complementary bread and ordered the tuna poke dish. The bread was good and the everything seasoned butter was fun. The tuna dish was pretty basic and good. We asked for some more wontons and it was no problem. Again, we really did have great service. My sister ordered the scallops over lobster risotto and I ordered a steak. The risotto was perfect and actually had a good amount of tender lobster. I am picky with risotto and they nailed it. I ordered the ribeye with mushrooms. It came out perfectly cooked, and was a good quality piece of meat. It was perfectly matched with the mushrooms. My sister ordered the sticky toffee cake and she enjoyed it, I am not too big on sweets. Overall, I would come back here. I thought it was a nice experience, good food, and the prices aren't crazy considering how much it costs to dine out these days. read more

We went to Dukes for a birthday celebration. I made reservations and when we got there we asked for a booth. We were told there were none available ( there were two empty ones right in front of us) but if we waited 15 minutes we may be able to get one. At the same time, a couple from the middle room came out and said they didn't like their table. They were immediately seated in one of the empty booths. Not wanting to make a fuss, we took the offered table. The wine was reasonably priced and my filet was a little less cooked than I like it but it was delicious. My husband's strip steak was inedible. It was tough and chewy. We were told that it was because of the cut of steak. We seldom send things back but when the manager came over ( no apology- seemed kind of bothered) he sent in back with no replacement although one was offered. It's been a year since we've dined at Dukes and their wagyu burger was calling out to us again. Ten ounces is a big burger and makes us think twice about whether to order an appetizer. But the Sausage and Provolone Stuffed Peppadews ($15) sounded truly interesting. They turned out to be very tasty too. Eight orbs of breaded and deep fried, stuffed but not spicy, red peppers were flavorful, especially with the side of lemon caper aioli. My wife started with the Seasonal Chopped Salad ($17) filled with kale, romaine, gold beets, apples, bacon, blue cheese crumble, pepitas, and maple cider vinaigrette. It was delicious and large. I'm surprised she finished it. Partly to compensate, she ordered her Dukes Chophouse Burger ($24) without the bun, however, she wasn't deterred from adding optional mushrooms ($3) and cheddar cheese ($1.50). She hardly touched her accompanying fries, saying that they were nothing special. But I thought the fries were done with perfection - truly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. For my Dukes Burger I added blue cheese ($1.50) and the flavor really came through. We both had ordered our burgers medium-rare. Hers arrived considerably rarer than mine. But both had a crispiness overall on the outside while not being overly compacted inside. A non-iceberg lettuce, tomato, sliced red onion, and horseradish pickles added additional texture and flavor to each bite. It's simply an excellent burger. BTW, my fries were even still warm after I finished my burger. Service by Steve was friendly and welcoming. Guinness ($9.26) is still the only dark beer available on draft. Kind of disappointing. Five stars for the lobster mac & cheese though. It was piping hot and it was delicious. Everyone else ordered the fillet. It was cold. They also got twice baked potatoes, which really weren't twice baked and they were also cold. No onion or cheese, just potato that looked like twice baked. After reading reviews on how many people commented on cold food, Dukes should know people do not like cold steak if they're paying over $50 for it. it should come sizzling on a plate but it comes on a cold plate and the meat was cold. They said it still tasted good but they were disappointed. The roasted garlic with a sprig of rosemary, was also cold! The rolls and butter were good! Service was ok. One star because I was the first one ordering, lobster bisque, a glass of Merlot and the roast duck. I didn't realize I was in trouble until the French onion soup showed up instead of my lobster bisque. The other 4 people ordered French onion soup. Everything went downhill from there. I did not want to upset the dinner party by complaining about the soup. An hour later after everybody finished their dinners , my duck finally showed up. I told the waitress to bring it back to the kitchen give it to the chef and give me a manager. She said the manager had just left the floor but would return shortly.Manager showed up and told me should will take the duck off the bill. That's great I said because I had no intention of paying. I just wanted her to know how wrong the situation was. The waitress acted like a hot shot because she took our orders without writing anything down. That's great if you don't make a mistake. The manager asked what she could get me and I asked for a cappuccino. She had the waitress bring me one right away. It was very good. They did not charge me for the cappuccino. I have been eating here since the place opened 8 years ago and back then the meat was exceptional but the quality now is far from that. The last steak was fatty and tough and not cooked properly. The real upside to Duke's are the waitstaff. The best are Bill, Terry (unfortunately retired), John and Nami who make the visit worthwhile. Unsure what these negative reviews are about. I ordered the petit filet rare and it was honestly cooked to perfection. Purple on the inside and seared so expertly that no juices escaped. And the flavor! Oh man. We also got salads and a dozen oysters--which were about $2.25 each. That's incredibly reasonable! My martini was delicious and the wine was stellar. I ordered the cheesecake for dessert and they comped it. We didn't even go there to gamble; we just went for dinner. A fantastic meal start to finish. Went on a Friday night for dinner. The place was want packed but there were people eating at tables and the bar. Our waitress was very kind and attentive. My steak was delicious, I ordered the filet mignon and it had great flavor. It tasted very buttery and was cooked to my liking. The sides are standard nothing extra ordinary but overall it was a great night celebrating a birthday. They even gave us a slice of chocolate cake with a candle to celebrate our friend. I am overdue in writing this review. The pandemic closed down the casino and during that time the previous head chef at Dukes hit the road. As far as I am concerned the new chef and his staff are killing it. The menu is small. There is one special for each night of the week. They kept some of the favorites but added some new entrees too. Both my wife and I have been very impressed. So impressed that I would say that the capital region should be adding it to their rotation whether they are a casino goer or not. They are doing some great work here! One night I will check to see if they are doing raw bar seafood properly. This five star update is for every meal I have had under the new chef. So this keeps coming up for me to review and I have to say we were there for a visit for our college daughter and we are not able to take her and her friends there for dinner because you have to be 21 to enter the restaurant we absolutely wanted to eat there but they're quite firm in that because it sits inside of the casino so we were disappointed. The young ladies that we spoke to before we got seated was nice and jolly, their positive attitude was so welcoming, I wish I got their names to put it here (but they were pretty and black and they work right at the front to seat people). On to the food --- I had pan seared Salmon and it was cooked very well, the right crunch, and the right texture you would want in your salmon, now the only thing was it wasn't that seasoned, neither was my mashed potatoes and spinach (so I added a little salt and pepper) after that it was good to eat. My mom had the short beef ribs, carrots, and mashed potatoes and she loved her food so no problems for her. Now the one thing I have to say that was not good at all was the drinks I had a lemon drop and my mom had a Long Island and they were not strong at all, it tasted like they put a pinch of alcohol in it (barely that) and I am someone who doesn't really drink and if I do the liquor usually is strong for me, so when I tasted theirs I was disappointed and that's the only reason I'm giving the rating a 4 because they tired us with them weak drinks. read more

Will not take a party of 10 past 5pm on Friday or Saturday. Booked multiple suites in Hotel for a Bachelor party and anything over 8 is considered to large for them. I have not encountered this issue at any other restaurant I've been to with a large party. The hostess I talked to on the phone voice changed as soon as I said a party of 10. As if she has encountered this issue before. I spend a lot of time at Rivers Casino and bringing in a party of 10 that will be spending over 1k on food and drinks alone will go out to gamble and spend 5 to 10x that. Not to mention the other people that will be showing up after dinner. Spoke with Turning Stone Steakhouse and they have no issue with a large party on a Friday. I ate here after racking up lots of rewards credits from gambling. Since I was alone, I decided to eat at the bar. The bartenders were really friendly and I actually enjoyed eating there. I was offered bread and butter which I accepted but it was actually the only part of the meal I didn't like. The bread was French bread and butter was butter with white and black sesame seeds on it. The bread was little hard and the butter looked better than it tasted. The appetizer I got was the the Burrata with heirloom tomatoes and basil which was delicious. I ordered the 22oz Ribeye and it was pretty delicious as well. The steak came with a roasted whole garlic and a fresh sprig of rosemary. When spread on the steak it made for a delicious topper for the steak. The steak was perfectly cooked medium rare and came with the bone. I wanted to grab the bone and rip the meat off with my teeth but I decided that was little caveman style so I did my best to clean the bone with the knife without biting it. . I had the crab incrusted sea bass. I could not believe how large the serving was. I wish I thought to take a photo. It was delicious. Perfectly cooked and the coating and spinach with it were delicious. By far the best overall seafood dish I ever had at any restaurant, including the premium restaurants on cruises. I was there with my sisters who each had the filet and said they were delicious. The prices are not cheap, but for the quality and portions they are reasonable. Looking forward to eating there again. We dined at Dukes this evening and I have to say it was an excellent experience! The clam chowder has a smoky bacon flavor and is delicious. The bacon steak for an appetizer was tasty. Braised short rib was so tender and tasty. Perfect amount of Demi glaze. My husband had chicken Marsala and it was scrumptious. Tender and juicy chicken. We had lava cake and it was very tasty. It could have been served warmer but it was enjoyable What made the evening even better was our amazing waitress Nadia. She was courteous, sincere and a true pleasure to have as a waitress. She was a true pleasure and we made sure the manager was aware that this is best service we have ever had at this restaurant and many other restaurants we have gone to. Let me start by saying that I had previously had a very bad experience 5 months ago. Well, that has been rectified. AND THAT IS AN UNDERSTATEMENT!!! The presentation was gorgeous and both seafoods were delicious and creative. Next came the main course. 2 surf and turfs...a ribeye with a lobster tail and I chose a filet with Alaskan king crab legs. There is a reason Dukes is called "Chophouse ". That is their specialty. The steaks were cooked to perfection. The filet could have been cut with my fork. The ribeye was a very large, tender delicious cut. The seafood accompaniment was superb. A feast for the soul. Dessert was tiramisu. It was given to me to-go, as there was no way I could eat one more bite. It was so tasty during late night TV! The perfect ending to a perfect night. I cannot thank Jeanette, Marc, and the entire staff enough. Perfection is the only way I can describe it. Yes, it can be a bit pricey...but, you get what you pay for. Attending a special dining event- A 5 Course tasting menu prepared in cooperation with the Brewmasters from Mad Jack Brewery - solidifys Dukes as a destination unto itself in Schenectady. Not your sad run of the mill, non-Vegas Casino steakhouse, Duke's is reason enough to visit the Rivers Casino complex. Although I can not comment on the menu per se, as the 5 one off specialty courses prepared and conceived by Executive Chef, Justin Engineri, that were perfectly paired with 5 microbrews by Brewmasters Brian and Adam, appetizers to deserts were simply sublime. The fried calamari appetizer had tentacles that were raw underneath the coating. Raw! For an entree, I had maple glazed roast duck. Superb! However, the string beans were uncooked. The spines were still on and chewing them for a bit was the only way to get them down. Fingerling potatoes, as described in the menu, were nothing more than small whites. I was in town for a business trip and wanted to get a proper piece of meat. I found Duke's which is in the casino. You have to be 21 to get on the casino floor to get to Duke's which wasn't an issue for me but I could see if you wanted to bring the family how that could be challenging. I gave this place 5 stars because I've never had such a HUGE piece of prime rib in my life. I must have weighed over two pounds. It was good and satisfying. Not the best prime rib I've ever had but it hit the bill for what I was after. The place itself is nice and has a good bar. It is right off the casino floor so you do hear the slots and the bustle of the tables. I actually enjoyed that part but some may not. read more

The food and service were excellent the prices were pretty high. The calamari was cooked perfectly and the fried banana peppers were such a nice addition, I'll ask for extra peppers next time. The filet was seasoned and cooked to a perfect medium rare and cut not problem with a butter knife ($51) it did not come with any sides. The Twin lobster tails were delicious and HUGE! The butter was excellent but market price was $80 it was good but not 80. I travel up from nyc to Schenectady for fun and to visit friends. Not to sound like a downstate dummy, but I have had the luck of being able to eat at a few world-class steakhouses in the city. Dukes has exceeded or at least matched the places Ive been to. I had the filet at one visit and the prime rib the other. Both were perfection. Oysters were blue points (i think) and were excellent. Prepared really well! I splurged for a simple bottle of wine from Sonoma and it was good. Im no connoisseur, but the price compared to the richness and enjoyment was well worth it. Went for Christmas Dinner with my family. My 25-yr-old stepson forgot his ID, so we weren't even allowed to enter the restaurant. He wouldn't be ordering alcohol, anyway. I love steak and I left more than half. The server was polite, but didn't really care when I said that the steak was not good. We came here for early dinner on Sun. Since they don't take reservations, we entered the restaurant around 5pm to beat the crowd. If you think casino is cold, this restaurant is colder! Bundle up! We ordered wedge salad, Cesar salad and French onion soup for appetizer. Filet mignon, salmon and lamb as main. Filet mignon and salmon were really good but the green beans under the salmon felt a bit undercooked. Lamb was hard to cut! Not sure if it was a bad knife or the meat was too tough. Had a horrendous dinner on Saturday 2/17. Ordered the lamb chops, which I had there 2 weeks prior and were great. This time not so great. Let's preface with the food taking almost an hour to come to our table of 2. We literally had a basic order of chopped salads, french onion soup and lamb chops. Salads were the only saving grace. French onion soup was awful, tasted of bouillon only. No cheese melted over the top. Just unacceptable. Lamb chops were overdone and extremely fatty. I have never seen lamb chops with so much fat.
