Attempted to place an order online only to see that online ordering is not possible after 7:45pm, no worries so we called in. The woman who answered the phone sounded overwhelmed and put us on hold. When we finally got to talk to her she seemed like she didn't know what we were asking for with just a single pizza order. After ordering and picking up we were immediately skeptical of the small box size. 16 dollars for what amounts to breadsticks with maybe 8 pieces of chicken felt like a total rip off. This experience really just pissed me off. The bartender was absolutely hammered. And as someone who works in the food industry, this was crazy behavior. Being loud and obnoxious with her regulars. Took forever to take my order, and was slurring her words while speaking to me. I then proceeded to watch her struggle to put my order in on the computer. Loudly voicing the fact she was "busy" and couldnt figure it out. There was maybe 5 people at the bar..... anyways somehow managed to out our order to go and forgot to add the aside I wanted on the sandwich. I asked right away for it and she totally forgot about it I had to remind her about 5 minutes later( she wasn't doing anything idk how she forgot). Had a nice dinner here with friends for my birthday. Our server was great, and very attentive. We enjoyed my birthday wings and split an order of fish and chips. For the wings we did medium, bourbon BBQ, and orchard gold. They were all good, but the orchard gold were the unanimous winner for us, and the wings were cooked perfectly! The fish and chips were also very good, nice and crispy batter on the fish and well seasoned fries. Went to OTW for lunch with my cousin on a Wednesday. It is a casual family friendly place to eat and has a separate bar area. As usual there was a good lunch crowd. Our waitress was friendly and attentive and did a great job serving the entire dining room. My cousin ordered a pizza with bacon and black olives. I had the penne and meatballs with a tossed salad. Our meals were delicious and I brought half my penne and meatballs home for lunch on Thursday. I especially like their red sauce. A great lunch with a wonderful cousin. We will be back. read more

We came for the wings and they delivered! I like a decent sized wing, with crunchy skin, and a tangy sauce. I sampled many a wing throughout the Albany area, but some of my favorites have changed or closed over the years. Based on reviews, I decided to try OTW, and they did not disappoint. The golden wings were excellent and I could see how that's their favorite flavor. There was a generous amount of sauce, yet the wings still had their crunch. The meat was juicy, and the size was perfect. I found that 10 wings is the perfect amount, especially with a side of fries, and a beer. Yuri was our server, knew the products well, and was a great addition to the experience. The place itself feels like a bingo hall. It's quite large with multiple rooms and a very open layout. Well doesn't add anything to the experience it did not really ruin it either. There was some tasteful art on the walls, which made it a bit better. This is going to be our wings place going forward, and next time we're planning to eat less so that we can actually try their key lime pie. read more

Orchard Tavern West is a modern style family style pub located off Route 20 in Guilderland. There's plenty of easy parking, as it's located in a strip mall with a large lot. The interior is modern, and the service is decent. Sometimes the waitstaff can be a little distracted, but generally they are attentive and friendly. Unfortunately, the food is substandard. It's not a terrible place, but I likely wouldn't return -- there are too many better options nearby. Given the quality, the prices are too high for what you get. read more

Now with OTW, we have another option for pizza and wings and a ton of choices for lunch or dinner. Yes, it's much like the original. Wait staff were personable, parking is more than adequate. Bar was occupied by the day drinkers; no other patrons in the dining area when we arrived. I decided on a healthy choice for lunch instead of deep fried wings or carb laden pizza. (Maybe next time.) This was my first time at this location. I went to the former original location years ago for a birthday party and thought it was a little overhyped. Going in with lower expectations this time it was better than I remembered. The dining room was mostly empty for 7pm on a Saturday. The booths were large and comfortable. It was nice to not feel like you are being packed in and on top of people like many other restaurants these days. I ordered a small tossed salad with house Italian. The dressing was decent but a little heavy on the oregano. The pizzas are the perfect size for one person so you don't have to argue with your family about what toppings to get. Everyone can get their own! There are a lot of pre-made options to choose from but I especially liked one called "the works" because it came with 5 toppings that you choose yourself. My only complaints were the toppings were sparse and it was light on sauce (and that's coming from someone who doesn't like much sauce on pizza). The dough was airy and full of flavor. Portions were the right size and prices were reasonable. I didn't realize that they do a birthday wing special and give you a free wing for each year old you are on your birthday. I think they need to advertise this more and get the word out because it should have been a lot busier. If I was hungrier I would have liked to try the wings to see how they measure up but now I have another reason to go back. read more

I have been going to the orchard Tavern for many years. We have always enjoyed the food. I was quite shocked today when we got the bill and noticed that the price of at least two of the food items on the bill were higher than what was on the menu. When we questioned the waitress, she started with, When you add the items together it ends up coming higher than what it looks like. We disagreed and specifically brought up two items and the amounts that were on the menu, and the difference was several dollars. She said oh yeah but the menu says all prices are subject to change. We said so that just covers everything?? that doesn't make sense well I guess we don't have a choice if that's what you're saying. At that point the waitress just walked away with the bill and the charge card. Upon her returning to the table with the bill she said "Yeah I know that's how management deals with not having to pay to reprint their menus it's cheaper that way, they could put stickers on the menus changing the prices." After she said that we just done. Basically they're more concerned about screwing the customer by having them pay more for the items than they are listed on their actual menu, then giving good customer service by having accurate menus and pricing. After leaving the restaurant my wife and I talked and remember the last time we were there we questioned the price to ourselves but just thought we were mistaken, guess we weren't. The original Orchard Tavern is a cavernous relic from Albany's warehouse/manufacturing days, lots of rooms for private meetings and pictures of old timers on the walls. Orchard Tavern West couldn't be more different. It's modern and suburban, with naugahyde banquettes and lots of wood accents. The food seems to be the same though. I ordered the cheese pizza, which the server reminded me is an individual portion, "about the size of a sheet of paper" and not cheap at $10 for a cheese. It has a thick puffy crust reminiscent of a french bread pizza, with good sauce and cheese on top. I enjoyed it though would probably order extra crispy next time. Service was quick, about 10 minutes, and the pizza was nice and hot when I received it. I was in here about 1 pm and there was one couple eating lunch and half a dozen day drinkers at the bar. A guy came into the bar while I was there un-masked and he was not challenged but otherwise COVID precautions seemed to be in effect. Orchard Tavern West (OTW) opened in late 2019 in the former Dorato's space in Star Plaza near the US 20/NY 155 intersection. OTW is the second location for The Orchard Tavern in Albany offering the same menu with appetizers, pizzas, burgers, sandwiches, dinner entrees, and salads. The space was nicely redone with the modern dining room with tables (covered with cloth) and full bar area surrounded with high chair seating and flatscreen TVs. There is also a separate room to the right side for parties and functions. I stopped in here briefly to catch a few of the NFL games on the TVs. I sat up at the bar and ordered the Ultimate Nachos, which were served fairly quick in about 5 minutes. The big plate had a pile of warm tortilla chips smothered with that typical orange nacho cheese sauce, bean& meat chili, black olives, bacon, jalapenos, served with mild salsa and sour cream cups on the side. The nachos were nothing very special, messy to eat and salty tasting. However, when I received the check, the Ultimate Nachos were only $4 plus tax, normally $10.99 since I ordered at the bar during an NFL game, when they offer drink specials and special pricing for some of the appetizers. I had an order of the traditional hot wings and also the garlic parmesan. Hot wings were as good as I've had and the garlic parm were better than most. Great pizza and wings. Free wings in the amount of your age on your actual birthday. We went for there for my uncle's 71st and we feasted! We were three adults and two kids. They let us know they'd serve 20 to start, and then 10 at a time thereafter. We made it to 40. Love the pizza. I usually get cheese, but the BLT pizza is fantastic. Highly recommend. I even caught a glimpse of the old pizza pans, still in use, when I went past the kitchen. Our family went to the old Orchard (RIP) often. I have fond memories of the longtime staff, enjoying family birthdays and celebrations, and a poignant visit after my grandfather's wake. Orchard West has a similar vibe; it's familiar and welcoming. But with more restrooms and better plumbing, haha! One last thing about our most recent visit for my son's 8th birthday. Somehow he managed to leave his new Mario & Luigi electronic figures behind. The owner, I think Kris?, was an absolute hero. He looked everywhere, including the security cams, to find them. He determined they were inadvertently thrown out. We asked if we could return and poke through the garbage, but he insisted on doing the dirty work himself after the kitchen closed. And he found them!! I never would've expected him to do that and was touched when he went that extra mile for my 3rd grader's missing birthday gifts. Kris saved the day. I have early childhood memories of pizza at the Orchard with my family. The food here has been disappointing in my 3 visits and in consistent reports from my friends who have gone. Their unique style pizza is pretty solid but other choices have not been that great. It's too bad because a tavern / gastropub place with good food would do very well in this area IMHO. The bar itself is a nice size but looks homemade. The decor in the rest of the place is very lacking, this restaurant was clearly built on a tight budget. They have some solid beers and the bartenders have been friendly. This was our third visit to the Orchard Tavern West. We came for dinner on Fri 3/05/21 at 5:45pm. Still busy despite the NYS Covid-19 regulations. We were seated at the bar. Our server was Tony F. Drinks and menus brought right away. We had our first drink while choosing our dinners. Peroni draft ($6) and Beringer pinot grigio ($5 happy hour/$7 after 6pm). Service is great and the owner, Kris M. is always in the house when we have visited. My dearest had the Cobb salad ($13) and I had the Spicy Italian specialty pizza ($15) - red sauce, cappicola, pepperoni, roasted red peppers, & ricotta cheese. Well cooked, dough & sauce made in house, could pick it up by hand with no drooping. Took half of this generous pie home. The Orchard legacy for pizza & wings has not diminished in this new location. Always consistently great. Wings are 10 for $13 or 20 for $22 so bring some friends. Many pizza choices, check their website. Open seven days a week 12-8pm. Recommended for families w/ kids. A special shout out to the owner Kris. He graciously secured a piece of memorabilia from the original Orchard Tavern that was sentimental to my wife & family. And he gave it to her this evening. Went there on a Thursday at 4:30pm. We were greeted very pleasantly and seated right away. The restaurant has no ambiance and the decor is very dated. The service was very bad. It took 30 minutes to have our order taken. Our server wasn't very attentive at all. The pizza was very good. The salad with chicken was very good as well. The carrot cake was awful. Inedible. But, upon telling the server I didn't like it she removed it from the bill. However, yet when another server came with the bill we found that there was an extra charge. She charged $5 extra because my friend requested crispy chicken in place of the grilled chicken. She never mentioned there being an up charge when asked about it. Well, the pizza is so small & doesn't say 'personal' anywhere on the website. So we paid $16 for a smallish pizza with 5 toppings plus a cheese pizza. $8 per pizza is about what I'd pay for something of this size so I guess it worked out. If it was 2 table spoons, that was a lot. We also ordered a pizza with mushrooms and they were chopped up in to very, very small pieces and again it was only about a table spoons worth of it on top.
