Honey-Glazed BBQ Pork (Char Siu) over Noodles

A vibrant looking shop with yummy roast meats hanging in the window. You can order by weight or in more balanced dishes with rice and veggies. I like getting two items in a rice dish, for variety. Roast Duck: Looks pretty cool hanging in the window. It's not carefully de-skinned and de-boned, like at a fancy Peking Duck dinner, but rather quickly chopped cross-sectionally with a clever. This makes eating more cautious and careful, so not to accidentally eat any bone shards as you pick off the meat and skin. But very tasty, so worth the effort. Crispy Pork Belly: Very crispy skin, firm meat and lots of fat intact (not rendered off). Very intense, so can only have a few pieces at once. Honey-Glazed BBQ Pork (Char Siu): Definitely my favorite meat here, by far! Love the lacquered textured and the bright red color. The texture outside is firm and there's a nice sweet taste so it's like meat candy. Even though there is some fat in the mix, it's cooked so well that it's softened and a good texture. Garlic Roast Chicken: I am surprised to say that I like this more than the duck. The meat-to-bone ratio is much better, so you don't feel like you're wasting all your time gnawing on the bone. Plus some really strong flavor integrated into the chicken breast, which can be a challenging cut to infiltrate. Granted, I'll gladly choose a Peking duck format (skin + meat sliced for me) if that's an option, but for this cross-section bone-in format the chicken is the king bird. Noodles: You don't have to get the meat over rice, you can choose noodles. With the BBQ Pork on top, it couldn't be a more perfect lunch. The chewy flavored noodles against the firm pork. Hit the spot! Fried Rice: The best part about getting fried rice at a roast meat shop is that it is loaded with yesterday's leftovers. No shortage of bright char siu chunks to add lots of great flavor.

Great service. There was not a menu per se and I just told them it was my first time and they recommended what I get. Great portion size. Smaller place but likely not super crowded as a lot of people take food to go anyway.

Make sure you go to this one!! It's the actual restaurant. Food (9/10) - Some classic Cantonese BBQ never hurt anybody. We got their duck and the pork belly (and accidentally got convinced into ordering pig ears). Overall, the duck has a delicious, slightly fatty, and aromatic flavor. Goes well with the side sauce. The sauce is on the sweeter and tangier side so it definitely does not interest everyone. The pig ears were good. Slight spice and nice crunch but probably not something I'd order again. The pork belly is where it's really at though. Delicate, crispy skin with the characteristic pork belly chew. On par with some of the best pork belly I've had at other restaurants. Absolutely DELICIOUS! MUST MUST MUST order!! Both pair AMAZING with the rice. **Method at this restaurant (if you're with a big group): Instead of ordering individual rice plates, order the meat by themselves (i.e. half a duck and half a pound of pork belly is how we did it) and then ask for rice on the side. That way, you can try many different kinds of flavor. Generous rice portion too. Service (7/10) - Nice people; seemed to like that kids could still speak Cantonese LOL... did kind of scam us into ordering pig ears. She asked us if we'd like to try some (which I took as an implication of did we want a few pieces) but she brought out a whole plate and charged us for it. Whoops! Watch out when they egg you on to order more definitely. Overall, amazing Cantonese BBQ. Will definitely be coming back again!

Must admit, it took me a while to figure out that I needed to add this 'new' business. Most will remember this store as being the location of that highly touted Chinatown roast pork and duck place that had chefs and foodies around the City praising them for their food. Those in the know are already aware that they are now in Bernal Hts. with another location set to open shortly in the TL. Back to this business, I walked by several times and noticed the new signage and the clean decor. With my home situation changed, my shopping habits are such that I am buying for one to two diners instead of a family of five or six. After picking up something at the hardware store, I walked in and looked at their offerings on a Wednesday late morning. I asked whether they offered BBQ spare ribs but the counter lady kindly told me no. Instead, I decided to buy some BBQ pork (char siu) (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=r7k0ngbgkRWzYYl7fdSkSA), asking her whether I could buy half of one of the hanging pieces. She kindly agreed to and I had this as part of my lunch, dinner, and yet another meal a couple days later. I studied the hot plates displayed and noticed a couple of items that I'd consider trying on another visit (pork belly with mustard greens and tomato with scrambled eggs). Those may be my next purchases.

This place is a gem! Third generation Cantonese roaster in the house. The roast duck here is the best I've had--and it comes deboned. Great char siu and roasted pork cheek. The service from Mae, John and Vincent friendliness and service is unmatched.

Really good BBQ Duck and rice - and other options Only a few seats but it's shared seating and worth it. Probably some of the best roast bbq duck in San Francisco

Delicious! Shared the bbq pork & roasted pork over rice with my fiancé for $21 + $3 for soda. For one person the portions would be very generous and more than enough. If you plan on dining in you can seat yourself and point at the pictures on the wall if you are unsure how to order. There is a mini chalk board menu as well.

His hospitality genuinely can't be beaten anywhere; he immediately made us feel like family. Thankfully, a couple of tables were finishing up their checks, and he had us seated in no time. We ordered the wonton noodle soup, seafood fried noodles, and garlic Chinese spinach, and the food came out fast! Everything tasted great, and unlike so many restaurants nowadays that serve individual-sized portions under the guise of "family style," 606's portions are huge and wonderfully generous. Wonton Noodle Soup: The broth was flavorful without being overly salty, and the wontons were packed with plump, tender shrimp--they definitely don't skimp on ingredients! Seafood Fried Noodles: Executed perfectly with just the right amount of savory sauce so the noodles retained that satisfying crispy, crunchy texture. Garlic Chinese Spinach: Cooked just right--not too soft and not undercooked. I'm so glad we came back to sit down and dine in. Not only do Eugene and his team make you feel right at home, but the food is fantastic, hearty, and full of heart. Highly recommend!

We got the free peanuts and cucumber salad first- so flavorful and a nice way to whet our appetite. The scallop vermicelli was SO buttery and flavorful. I wanted another order!! The claypot rice came steaming hot and full of meats! Get something to cut it with! The black bean clams were delicious but a tad salty so it's nice to have with the claypot, or even an order of veggies and plain rice! Anyway, having tried it, I can say it was good, but not so good that I'd expend that much energy to secure the reservation. Have to say, service was really great. Servers were attentive without being overbearing, which is always welcome. We ordered several dishes and dined, as they suggested, family style. To start, we were given two complimentary dishes, the roasted peanuts and the smashed cucumbers; both were nice appetizers. We ordered the Chiu Chow green beans, the Mongolian beef noodles, the claypot rice with lop cheung and bacon, the salt 'n peppa prawns, and the whole fried petrale sole, the last two being on the day's "specials" board. The winning dish was definitely the green beans. All the food was good, but seemed to be a bit overly salted and highly spiced. The piece of beef I had from the Mongolian beef noodles was tender, but one of my friends thought her piece was a bit tough and too chewy; we all thought the beef could have been cut into smaller or thinner pieces. We also shared two desserts since it was a birthday celebration (there are only three options offered). We had the red bean shaved ice and the mango pudding. Both were good (not "oh, boy, yummy" good, but good). Nice to try. The price wasn't outrageous ($200 including tax and tip), but I think this will be a "been there, done that" experience for me unless a friend absolutely wants to go again.

Situated on the second floor, Hong Kong Clay Pot Restaurant, is elevated above the rest, literally and figuratively with their quality of food and service, high churn and freshness, and comfort in dining space. Upon climbing the carpeted steps up to the restaurant, we were greeted by the staff and were seated by the window. Despite being located in a building with no air conditioning, the heat doesn't linger much here when the windows are open feeding in the fresh bay air. Furthermore, the spacing between tables is efficient allowing them to pack tables for large and small groups alike but still have enough room to eat comfortably. We were given menus and offered tea and waters to get us started. The menu is quite extensive beyond clay pot dishes as it includes many popular favorites typical of Chinese restaurants (noodle and rice dishes, chicken/beef/pork, and veggies) but also eclectic options like frog legs. For those looking to quench a thirst, they have soft drinks out of cans, bottled juices, beers, and wines. The menu is full of pictures so you'll get a nice visual of what you'll expect to feast on. Naturally, we got a few things as were famished from the day full of adventure. Salt & Pepper Frog - these crispy and meaty bits are lips smacking good; they're great starters for the meal as well as an introduction to some exotic food Snow Pea Sprouts with Garlic - cooked really well with large chunks of garlic. Seasoned well but it does have a bit more oil than your typical home cooking - so delicious though! Dried Bean Curd Lamb Clay Pot - protein rich dish with succulent chunks of lamb and tofu slathered in a sauce in search of a bowl of rice to pair with. Just one of these can easily feed two! Beef Stew Clay Pot with Bean Curd & Mushroom - juicy pieces of beef and braised tofu and mushrooms hit home with a nice balance of protein and veggies. This hearty dish will fill you up. Steamed rice - nothing special, but it does cost extra and doesn't come with any of the clay pots. You're going to want some so make sure you get a bowl or two. The service is exceptional here compared with other sit downs of this caliber in Chinatown. The staff members are personable, quick to serve and refill beverages, and accessible when the need arises. It does get busy here so the small staff may have trouble during rushes. Given the older building, naturally the small bathroom is expected. Surprisingly though, they have free WiFi here so I suppose for those looking for a pit stop in your city trek to regroup or for the locals looking to camp a bit for work, you've come to a great place to grab a bite too! Overall, Hong Kong Clay Pot represents the Hong Kong cuisine exceptionally well and is accessible, affordable, and delicious. The menu covers a variety of items and will be sure to satisfy everyone in your party. Everything is made fresh and is balanced in flavor, texture, and nutrition. Tourist or local, you'll be welcomed with hospitality. Each meal is meant for family style and will be sure to fill each stomach up while encouraging community building during your dining experience.
