Update to my previous review. After my initial difficulty in connecting with Duhon was sorted out, we set a firm date to get things done. Their crew of three showed up at 9:00 AM and were through with everything before noon. I have lights at my side door for the first time in ten years, I have a place to plug in the electric mower and power tools that's outside the house, and my bathroom has an electric outlet for the first time in its life. The crew cleaned up after themselves well, so I didn't have to spend an hour sweeping and vacuuming debris. The final invoice hasn't arrived yet, but the prices given in the estimate were fair enough. I'm still holding back a star because of the initial communications thing, but I'm well pleased in the end and I'd use Duhon again. read more

Yelp Review #400 Me: "Hello? Duhon Electric? I need help with a few outdoor circuits. You see there is this really large crow I need to grill for supper..." Mr. Duhon came out today after lunch to repair three outdoor circuits that had failed. Prior to his service call, we worked through e-mail to identify the likely cause of the problem and come up with a parts list. He called an hour in advance of his arrival and arrived precisely when he said he would. Since I did the shopping, we first reviewed the parts to ensure I had everything he would need. Then he got right to work. Along the way he told me what caused the problem, what he was doing to prevent a recurrence, and what maintenance and repairs would likely be needed in the future. In under an hour, he finished refurbishing and testing the four circuits and installing new code compliant covers. He then fastidiously cleaned up all of the boxes, bits, and pieces from the surgical field--my yard. Other than for the new look of the installation, you'd never know he'd been there. William came by today to install several lights to highlight some paintings in our home and refit some old can lights in the kitchen. He brought his crew, Ben and Raoul to assist in this project. They did the job efficiently and with great fan fare. The banter was hilarious as was the fact that Raoul didn't like anchovies on pizza. Ben, who I think is 9yrs old, was a budding apprentice and was polite when he addressed me. After everything was installed, the lights didn't work. I blame this on Raoul who blamed it on Ben, who intern held William accountable, but after awhile, we realized it was actually my fault for wanting new lights in the kitchen in the first place. This is how the day progressed, it was fun and the job was completed on time and in the manner I wished it to be. With that in mind I would say todays experience was excellent, marvelous, magnificent, superb, fine, wonderful, superlative, exceptional, first-class, first-rate; informal, great, terrific, tremendous, super, amazing, fantastic, sensational, fabulous, ace, neat, killer, crack, A1, awesome, bang-up, skookum, out of this world; smashing, brilliant, remarkable, extraordinary, exceptional, striking, eye-catching, arresting, impressive, distinctive, unforgettable, memorable, special, momentous, significant, notable, noteworthy and generally William is an all around good guy. read more

I'm really perplexed why they show 4.5 stars. They are unresponsive. I spoke to someone briefly and they asked me to text them my information and they'd get back to me with a time for an estimate. That's not happened. A simple reply. I would use someone to do work who is reliable. After reading the reviews further, it looks like being unresponsive is a common trend with this company. I'm not sure what happened since my first review, but my opinion of this business has totally changed. It seems like they have too much business and not enough staff to handle the workload. The owner, Mr. Duhon, personally came out to give me an estimate. He didn't write anything down so I wondered how he was going to remember everything in order to give me an accurate estimate of the work to be done. I was expecting to receive the estimate either that night or the next day. A few days went by and then a week and still nothing. I sent him a message asking for the estimate since I had already contacted another electrician for an estimate as well. Mr. Duhon advised me that he would have the estimate for me by the next day. Well, that was about two weeks ago and I never received it. What a waste of my time. Needless to say, I went with Max Electric for my several thousand dollars' worth of electrical work. read more

This may possibly be the best dealing I've ever had with a tradesman! I needed an electrician to do a minor job on a house that is for sale and about to close and I needed it done fairly quickly. I regular electrician was too busy. Due to all of the good reviews on yelp I requested a quote, explaining exactly what I needed done. William got back to me within an hour, I believe, with a quote and let me know when he could do it. The price was very fair and he came out the very next day! He gave me a 45 minute notice of his arrival, like he said he would, and he arrived on time. William was very responsive, prompt, competent and quick and best of all his prices were not outrageous. I will definitely use William again for any electrical needs that I may have as well as recommend him to my family and friends. He truly earned my business. read more

We've used Duhon a few times and they've been great to work with every time. We had can lights installed in our living room, and we changed a bunch of ceiling lights around between rooms. These guys were responsive, on time, super savvy, and they raised a lot of good points I hadn't considered. They did great work both times. When I had a question about the kind of lights they installed for us because a friend wanted to put some in, they promptly emailed me back to answer my question, even though it wouldn't result in a paying job. I am a big fan of supporting small businesses where I live. I find that not only are the folks more grateful for the business but they tend to have more experience and do a better job. Due to my limited schedule we had to set an appointment a week and a half out to take care of some small problems I had with 3 light switches in the house. William came over this morning and fixed everything in about 30 minutes. A huge relief as my wife has been bugging me to take care of these problems for months. Everything is working great, will be able to dim the lights in the baby room without blowing the breaker at last. Quick work, fair prices and William is a great guy. I had Duhon Electric out to my house many months ago to install 4" canned lights in my kitchen and living room. These guys installed 16 lights, wired and installed under cabinet lighting in my kitchen, crawled through my 1950's ranch style attic to run the wires and did an incredible job! They both are extremly nice and professional to work with and gave us a great price to install all the items we wanted. They worked with us on the location of the lights and made suggestions that we listened to. We have had them out a couple of times since the big light install for smaller items and they always come quickly (even the same day sometimes - during lunch) and take care of us. These guys are solid. I can't recommend them highly enough. I had a fair amount of work done in my place. New breaker box, additional circuits added, some crazy wiring in my attic that needed attention, recess lighting install, ceiling fan relocation, and GFI outlets. I had a nagging electrical outlet issue caused by an unwelcome rodent. Being a tinkerer, I tried to replace it, took a nasty shock and then decided it was over my head. The following morning though, William called back and apologized for missing the appointment and made known to me that he was involved in an auto accident of the minor kind of course; he offered to come that very afternoon and was on time. So I'm giving 5 stars to a company who actually didn't do any work on my house. Why? Because I can replace outlets myself. But, when the breaker is off, but my pen-style volt meter is telling me there is still electricity flowing, I get a bit concerned. I called Duhon to ask if it is something I was concerned about. The person who answered let me explain my situation, diagnosed the problem, DIDN'T TRY TO SELL ME ANYTHING, and was very courteous towards someone who was basically asking for free advice.
