OK I start this review by berating myself for passing by this place so many times and never stopping in. Yes their establishment looks seriously greasy spoon, but there's a reason they're always busy. Their doughnuts and food are always fresh, and their fried chicken (spicy or regular) beats out KFC and I dare say Churches too. Their service is always friendly and the food comes out promptly. I've only been there two times now. The first time I walked in there I was like a little kid in a candy store! They have a wide range of different types of food made to order. They have something for every taste. Their food menu is quite large. So make sure you know what you'd like to order, if there's a line up sometimes the regulars can get kinda grumpy. If you have never been to Duffin's I recommend the Apple Fritter, Fried Chicken, and the Vietnamese Chicken Sub. The last time I was there, there were about five others in front of me and we're all ordering the sub! So there's a testament to its popularity! You can order it spicy (spiced with peppers) or if peppers don't agree with you, you can order not spicy. I'm sure there are many other goodies on their menu, I just have not tried them yet (but that will soon change lol). If you're in the mood for something different from all the generic and typical fast foods and would like to eat something worthy of putting into your mouth, Duffin's has food for all tastes. Duffin's Donuts is not just an awesome place for doughnuts, they also serve tasty eats too! read more

This is the munchie lovin's dream hole of food! They got the craziest selections of donuts, vietnamese subs, burgers, sandwiches, chinese take out, fried chicken, snacks...etc!!! You got a craving? I bet this place will have a solution for it. We detoured this way to grab a box of donuts (a dozen for under $7...pretty awesome!). They're boston cream is where the money is at! They always have the best variety...and lots of it! I also tried their coconut donut for the first time...super yummy. I've also had their vietnamese subs before which is pretty good too. To satisfy a fried chicken craving, we tried theirs a while back...to our disappointment, it was rather dry and not very flavorful. I think it was probably sitting out there for a while....=P read more

Have you been lured into Vancouver's 'artisan donut' scene? If so, stop. These are the best donuts in town -- and cheap too! Pick up a six pack of Boston Creams for $5.25. This is a proper 24-hour spot too. I've never had a stale donut. The drip coffee is what you'd expect -- better than Lucy's and on par with Breka. Tell your friends! The more donuts people buy, the fresher they'll be! read more

For a restaurant with an extremely varied menu, they make killer donuts! Seriously, custard filled buttermilk!

Every type of food you can possibly imagine in a slightly sketchy environment with friendly staff - open 24 hours. Incredible My favorite: the viet chicken sub. During regular hours, it's pretty good even compared to all the real vietnamese restaurants. At 2 in the morning, it's amazing - all I can do is stare at it in wonder as I'm eating it. The regular viet sub is ok, I would only get it if I had a craving in the middle of the night. The iced coffee (they make it with condensed milk) is not as good as the real viet restaurants, but it's cheap and once again at 2 in the morning...it hits the spot. When the fried chicken is freshly made rather than sitting other that heater for hours, its pretty damn good. I'm not really a donut person, but I had to try theirs once or twice. The regular donuts (I had one sprinkled with sugar and one with a chocolate glaze) are very fluffy, but wasn't a fan of the completely chocolate donut - was hoping for something more moist, and it came out a little dense and dry. I also like the pupusas (I prefer the one with cheese) and tamales, something filling and not-greasy late at night, although this is not something I usually order at Mexican restaurants so I don't have a standard to compare it to. The place is often busy and attracts all different types of people. From trucker-types that seem like would be the target customer, to school kids, to the university crowd...I've seen people with their apple laptops sitting by the window peacefully typing away. It's very different, but it works... read more

My new addiction! after passing by this little hole-in-the-wall for YEARS! 15 to be exact, I finally tried out their doughnuts.. I got the plain sugar and the jelly filled. oh man! all i can say is that i am an instant fan! Light, fluffy, FRESH! not frozen! (ya! im talking to you you Timmy ho's!) So here's the story.. One day i was Craving Malasadas BADLY! and i know for a fact that Vancouver has none. :( so as a fluke, my wife and i decided to try Duffins since we've never stepped foot inside here before. To our suprise, The Plain suger Doughnut was the closest thing to Hawaii's Malasadas as u can get in Vancouver. Those of you who've already tried the Malasada know what im talking about! Wait... this place has more than JUST doughnuts? They got Tortas, Fried chicken, Ice cream, BUBBLE TEA,.. and wait.. what?.... Chinese food as well.? who came up with this menu? well whoever it was, its working for them! Great job Mr. Duffins! U found yourself a regular. :) read more

First time costumer! I came here with two of my good friends in search of some yummy doughnuts and ended up with more! This place pretty much has everything for everyones swewt tooth or belly hunger. I grabbed myself a bubble tea, fried chicken and 10 doughnuts and it all cost me under 23$! The servers are a little standoffish and could defs smile a bit more! Otherwise I will defs be coming back here! read more

Duffin's Donuts - Donuts Near Me - Vancouver, British Columbia

s/o to duffin's lol i been eating here since my pops would take me out for some cheap and fire eats as a kid. i'm now 19 with a driver's license so driving out to vancouver from surrey just for duffin's is worth it haha. one minor gripe about this place is the occasional wasted customer that adds to the already pretty ghetto atmosphere... but honestly if you're from around here, it's kind of part of the charm haha. another one is parking pretty limited which i can't really blame them for since it's a pretty small spot, but pulling up with a squad in multilple cars might not always be the best idea looool the food's great for the price point it's at, you could have a complete meal for less than $15 and sometimes not even be able to finish it. my personal fave order is any viet sub with a large fries and a sugar raised donut. fried chicken's great too, probably my fave in the city tbh. my favourite 24/7 spot in the lower mainland, always cool to adventure out here in the late nights/early mornings with the squad. especially during the summertime. those iced coffees hit different during the summer lol. read more

The tortas and salad rolls were delicious, but having lived in this city for a while I'd been told to come here so many times that this wasn't a surprise. There was no trepidation on my part, any place with this much stuff written on their windows gets my patronage, I just had to wait until someone had a car and wasn't afraid of terrible lighting. Anyway, we saw a bloody guy get hauled out of the washroom by an ambulance attendant! 5 stars! read more

So sad that Duffin's is on the decline. We've been hitting up this place for years for delicious torta sandwiches, chinese food and the best fried chicken in town. Unfortunately on our most recent and possibly last visit the chinese food counter had been closed permanently and the fried chicken was less that to be desired as it was soggy and cold....this would be ok if it wasn't peak lunch hours but sadly it was. I hope Duffin's gets it back together or perhaps they are planning on selling this peice of prime real estate and shutting down. :( read more

Fantastic Veg Torta Subs, and the donuts are great especially when super fresh - I could eat a dozen! Prices are fair and they are pretty quick to get your order out. Other food items look pretty good too but being veg-heads we primarily come for the tortas day or night as they are open 24 hrs. read more

I'm sort of amazed at how fresh their donuts tasted. The long john was pillowy soft, agh - I almost just drooled! How does a place like this make fresher donuts than a Tim Ho's that has so much more turnover? Machaca sub was good as ever, even juicier and messier than I remembered. I also took a bite out of the chirozo con huevos, a bit spicy but good. Will be back to try the pupusa's. Fun game = trying to figure out what they DON'T have on their menu. read more

Duffins Donuts at Knight & 41st Ave. is a calm, cozy, busy-at-times, wonderful place to relax, read the paper for free and watch sports on TV. Their Angel donuts are "spiritually" soft, dusted with icing sugar and filled with light creamy chocolate whip that emerges as a whorl-turret - heav!en!ly! 90¢; mine were extremely fresh...April 15 they were 3 for $2.50 so if two of you want to go with me sometime.... Many other low-cost offerings: like $2.50, and the other side has Chinese food. read more

I was there yesterday night. If you've ever been to South-east Asia, this place will remind you of a bus terminal diner in Manila or Bangkok. It's chockablock with menu items, always busy, fast, and imbued with a kind of hustle-bustle honesty that you find from a place that can only be found under fluorescent lighting. The cafeteria tables defy physics and are comfortable. It might be easier if you eat meat. I had a veggie Viet sub sandwich. I've had better. There was plenty of carrots and pickled good stuff, a really spicy pepper, and a nice surprise, cheddar cheese. The cheese was pretty real too, not crappy processed stuff. Unfortunately they put pate on my first sandwich, even when the (really nice) cashier/server and I had communicated about my vegetarianism. I came up right away after seeing the generous pate helping on the sandwich. She was super apologetic and rushed another sandwich out. Great, I mean great service! Frequently a vegetarian needs to send stuff back. It sucks, and is contrary to my reasoning for this dietary choice. I hope to minimize my environmental impact. It's often made worse by being an asshole vegetarian by being angry, entitled or just plain insensitive to the server. In this case, my server was great, so apologetic and got me a new sandwich right away. Last note about this: if you are omnivorous and get pate, there's a lot -- looks generous! I also had a banana cream filled doughnut, something I do once every five years. It was good: crispy and sugar powdered. I don't know what possessed me to imagine that banana flavour filling was the way to go, because frankly, it's impossible to like banana flavour filling. I topped it all off with a brilliant cup of coffee from a real mug. (A special thanks to this business for not succumbing to the disposable trend.) As diner coffee goes this was good, it only needed one creamer to jazz it up and it wasn't so old as to taste like a stuck e-brake on the highway. Prices were really great! read more

Great low key 24 hour hangout with delicious subs and doughnuts. Chinese food is also available along with bubble tea. It is definitely a laid back and fun place to hang out with friends while watching the game on their tv's. Favourites: All the doughnuts are fantastic Scrambled Egg Sub BLT Sub Not a Fan: The chicken burger is not their specialty- I like to stick to the subs :) read more

This place is a 24hr. gem and I visit it somewhat often so why the 2stars? Well I like donuts and I don't mind them day old... Duffin's sells "day olds" at a discounted 8piece package but recently I got a bad batch, yes the jam filled ones may be a bit deformed, the colored sprinkles oil soaked, dying their neighbours and the sugar glazing lost its sheen but none of these factors matter because it'll taste about the same and I get my sugar high. What bugged me this one time (so far) is that my stomach started to hurt...you know where this leads. I don't expect a cheap joint like this to practice impeccable hygiene and great food safe handling but a food that's cooked in such extreme temperatures (nothing survives in deep frying) I would not expect it to take 1 day for a donut to go bad. So discount buyers beware. Read quickly: chicken subway- good vietnamese chicken sandwich- good but too much msg in chicken pastrami sandwich- decent chorizo sub- good carrot cake- too sweet (but to be expected) fried chicken / spicy fried chicken - pretty good fresh donuts- good, better than day olds, Timmy's is definitely less greasy I would have given them 5stars for previous experience then a 1 star update but didn't realize I hadn't written a review previously. 2stars to catch people's attention. read more

This place is awesome if you're looking for donuts that are REALLY sweet, but really soft! Tired of the told Timmy's donuts - this is the place to go. The donuts are really good, but it's far too sweet for my liking. The twist donut is okay though - not too sweet and super fluffy. Their torta sandwiches are really good. I usually order number 12 - whatever it is called. It's pork and scrambled eggs?, banana peppers, avocado, lettuce, onions, mayo and I'm pretty sure the bread was heated up with butter. Pretty fatty, but really really good! Their fries even taste like Costco's fries! Rare finding. Bubble tea is really sweet. I had their strawberry with pearls and it tasted just like their donuts because of how sweet it is. Otherwise, pretty damn good! They sell lots of different types of food. I really enjoy how diverse it is at Duffin's since you can pretty much get anything there except for sushi! Their menu will definitely speak out how diverse they are! read more

So so donuts. Probably the worst coffee I've ever had. Rude staff. Other than that, I loved it.

Just dawned upon me, best time to get their fried chicken is in the afternoon---must be a more passionate chef! Nicely crispy skin, way better than KFC! read more

Hot chicken torta sub. A m a z i n g. The best part of going to Duffins is that the hot torta subs are so fresh (the advocado is always firm but ripe) and the donuts are right there for desert. I take the onions off, but in my books, it's the best place to go for an inexpensive chicken sandwich. read more

Ordered a cheeseburger combo. Food was pretty good for the price however, in my burger I found paper towel mixed in with the lettuce. The piece was pretty big... after finding this, I probably won't eat here ever again. read more

Duffin's Donuts - Paper towel in the lettuce of my cheeseburger - Donuts Near Me - Vancouver, British Columbia

I went there for a doughnut a year or so ago and it was okay, so when my husband wanted to go for a torta, I was down. Freaking A... it was busy, but you can close one reg or ask the folks chatting behind the counter on the Chinese food side to help clean the dining room. In my experience- if what you can see (the dining room) is gross, what you can't see (the kitchen,) is worse. I was so put-off, I skipped a sammy and had some fries instead (boiling-hot oil kills a lot of bad stuff.) My husband went for the Vietnamese chicken torta and loved it, but I couldn't even bring myself to take a bite- was too busy trying to avoid touching the dirty table (cleanest we could find.) Only reason I'm giving two stars instead of one is because my husband loved the torta, the fries were okay-ish. I'm sure the spouse will go back sometime - when I'm not tagging along. From past reviewers, it could be my experience is an anomaly, but ick, I'm not going to bother with another try when this town's full of other places that won't give me the heebie-jeebies with nasty dining areas. read more

Love this 24 hour joint. Great for a quick bite. Love their torta subs - such a great deal for ~$4. Their doughnuts are really nice too - not too sweet but pretty big and fluffy. They have surprisingly good fried chicken! read more

Excellent place for donuts, burgers, subs and coffee. Their lemon donuts and Boston creams alone are worth the visit! The lemon donuts are dusted with icing sugar and filled generously with lemon cream. Not to say, the prices are quite reasonable. And the place is open 24/7. The only flip side is that the tables are not cleared after customers leave, but if you are looking at grabbing something quick and leaving then that should be no problem at all. read more

Donuts are very light and soft compare with Tim hortons. I usually cannot eat two donuts, but this one I can easily eat two or more. I also love the chicken teriyaki sandwich. Don't forget to order free Jalapeño. read more

Donuts are ok- nothing special . They are Getting smaller and more and more tasteless. The owners are nice but the place is filthy. They need to clean it once in a while. Not sure why it's so busy. Hot torta subs are decent though. Fried chicken is good but rather go to Church's chicken which isn't that far away. read more

Good late night go to food! Although it can be busy late night they are pretty fast. They have a wide range variety of food! A diner type of vibe. 3 Spicy chickens + rice is worth and filling! Duffin's is the Disney World of the Kensington 'hood. Honestly. It really is. Not only do you get delicious food, but you'll see a whole whack of strange and unique characters there, sipping coffee or ogling the ladies while they smoke cigarettes out front. What a magical place! Sometimes (and by 'sometimes' I mean 'ALL the time') I want beautiful, home made pupusas brimming with chiles and cheese, and other times I want crispy fried chicken. Both of these dreams come true every time I visit Duffins. I could talk and talk and talk about how amazing this place is, but then my voice would be hoarse and your stomach would be growling so I'll give you the Coles Notes version: 1. Always buy an iced coffee 2. Bear Claw doughnuts are usually baked fresh at 10 AM, and you want them fresh! 3. Their fish and chips are catch of the day, and caught my heart long ago with their deliciousness. 4. Ask to add avocado to any Torta or Breakfast Sandwich, they will do it for you and you will want them to. Trust me. 5. Never order only one pupusa; they take a while to make and you will be kicking yourself when you inevitably go back for a second (or a third). Yes, they're that good! read more

Ah... this place takes me back to the high school days when all I had was some chump change in my pocket that was just enough to get one of their delectable apple fritters. Duffin Donuts is more than just donuts. Greasy Chinese food? Check. Donuts? Check. Tortas and Viet subs? Check. Fried Chicken? Hell, they got you covered for that, too. The food is cheap and you should know what to expect about the decor just by the food offerings I've described. It's a place where grandpas hang out and drink their coffee in the morning, where truckers grab a sammich and teenagers get their sugar fixin'. I love their sammichs. I love the Chicken Torta. It's warm, stuffed with goodness and fresh. The buns are soft on the inside and flaky on the outside. It's the type of meal that makes you say "Ohhhhh hell yeah... it's ON!" read more

I only come here for the sandwiches! Ok.. once in a while I will also indulge in a donut.... Years ago, it use to be a little donut shop on the corner of 33rd and Main. And it was frequented by regulars for their yummy torta sandwiches! It's now located on 41st and Knight and the shop was almost doubled in size. Serving up Chinese food, bubble tea, fried chicken, torta subs and of course... donuts. I'm not a big fan of the Chinese food. I mean, if I want Chinese, I'll go to a Chinese restaurant. I really do tend to stick to the sandwiches. The torta subs to be exact. And always beef. It's sorta of a messy steak sandwich stuffed with avocado, lettuce and tomatoes. It's a delicious yummy experience for under $5. The bbq beef is also good. The shop offers a wide variety of sandwiches including Vietnamese subs. Honestly, I shy away from the Vietnamese subs because I tend to stick to what I know and what I know about Duffin's is that the torta subs are mighty fine! There's also a wide selection of donuts that remind me of the donuts that were available when I was growing up. Chocolate coconut.. peanut.. It's classic cake donuts that offer a nice satisfying sweet fix after the main attraction! Try this place! You won't be sorry you did! I should mention that it's not exactly a nice place to take a date but cozy enough to hang out with friends. I mean.. Hey! It's a donut shop! read more

Best fried chicken in town. There are two option:spicy and regular. The spicy really isn't that hot. Very good donuts. Remember to go around the counter as there are a whole other series of donuts. And, surprisingly, excellent pupusas. Great for kids. read more

It's ok at 3 am but aside from that nothing on the menu is particularly good. The only real benefit is the fact they're open 24hrs. The donuts are all pretty good and the pre made sandwiches are convenient as well. As far as the menu goes it's all pretty half ass tbh nothing is overly well done or especially good by any means. During reg business hours I would suggest heading over to Victoria or Fraser you could prob find something better for comparable price. read more

Being a fried chicken fan and having my chubby friend rave about the chicken here, I dropped by on a lazy Sunday to give their chicken a try. Ordered the 4 pieces for $7 with both original and spicy. The taste was good, the chicken was gigantic, but just lacked the juiciness of Churches and unique flavour of KFC and it didn't help to have the chicken sitting under a heat lamp. This place also has an identity crisis: subs, donuts, asian food, yet somehow manages to please people for most things. I'd come back here again for another try, but the nod goes to HIfive Chicken for an alternative to the regular fried chicken joints. I've learned not to trust chubby people for food review as they say it's "all good" read more

I remember the awkward moment when my friend told me she got an amazing sandwich from Duffin's and I thought she meant Dunkin's and I said that was disgusting and never talked about it again. I've been driving by this location for many years yet haven't go in until recently after reading the reviews on Yelp. It really surprised my wife and I that their donuts taste much better than Tim Horton's. (Well, of course I know T.H. is not the best but it's so popular.) One of my favorites is the Boston Creme, which it's a little too sweet to me in many places. But Duffin's one is just right up to my taste. Beside Boston Creme, we tried a few others with creme fillings, which we like all of them pretty much. We also tried the steak sub. Despite there's only a little meat, it has avocado, tomato and lettuce, which tastes pretty good. We might want to try some other stuff later. read more

Great place to eat - haven't actually tried the donuts as I go for the Mexican tortas (sandwich). Haven't found another place that has these sandwiches and having a great variety as well.
