This home-y cafe feels as if youve stepped into the home of the couple running it. The space seems filled with keepsakes and souvenirs from the couples travels, and makes for a cool setting. The food is affordable, homestyle, and comforting. We felt very welcomed and were even given a pair of complimentary scones to round out the meal. Keep in mind it is cash only and if youre hungry you may want to order more than one dish, though at the price point it is perfectly reasonable to do so. Overall a cute spot for breakfast or brunch with some unique variety in dishes.

Excellent service, excellent food. It is quaint and cute with art for sale adorning the walls along with honey and other goodies. Nice little place in Logan Square. It was also quite busy which is always a good sign! We ordered the huevos rancheros, fruit plates, bacon, croissant. All very good.

Love Groucho or not, Duck Soup Cafe is a great place for breakfast and coffee. It is hard to find in Logan Square Shopping Center, but if you drive around back on the eastern side the rear door and sign are visible as the best way in. Started 35 years ago by the same family running it now, the place has an easy Americana coziness and knotty pine charm that makes for a relaxing environment. The menu is similarly built on kitchen classics, with one side for morning victuals, and the reverse, lunch. I was the second customer when I walked in around 9:20. I liked the country vibe and took a table in the front corner under the windows and across from the cashier counter and kitchen entrance. Their french toast was constructed from a thin cut croissant, and included fresh cool sweet butter to melt, real grade A dark maple syrup and two bacon slices. It was all very good, as was the bottomless coffee mug. Service was beautifully provided by Michelle, daughter of the owner/chef of the house. They both seemed to know all their customers, but me, and came out to greet everyone and catch up of the daily New Hope gossip. One of the benefits of Logan Square is that it is not downtown in tourist centric New Hope. Rather, this is for the locals, with real quality and reasonable prices.

On Valentine's Day, my husband and I treated ourselves to a matinee of "An Evening With Groucho" (we are fans of Frank Ferrante, who portrays the icon with marvelous fidelity, agility (oh those Groucho dance moves) and sharp humor. To add to our day out, we opted for a pre-show brunch, scouted out the possibilities on Yelp, and were amused to find an eatery named the DUCK SOUP cafe. Mind you, it takes a bit of a safari, to the rear left of the Logan Square shopping center, to find the cafe, but we did. The cafe is not a shrine to the Marx Brothers, but it is delightful in many other ways - cozy and inviting - with original artwork on the walls (including portraits of local legends, including a saucy, bejeweled Pumpkin raising a glass of wine), vintage tablecloths, and creative decorations such as a window lined with colorful serving trays. Our host and server was friendly and glad to converse about local theater and celebrities. We felt so welcome! Now on to the food. Eggs Benedict is something that I almost never order, because the hollandaise sauce almost always disappoints. However, I had a gut feeling that the Duck Soup Cafe would be THE place to order it. (Other yelpers approvals helped.) Husband and I both ordered Benedict dishes, his straight, mine with smoked salmon. Wow! Both were most perfectly prepared. Eggs poached to just the right second, a sauce that was light, and a delicious thin layer of smoked salmon. All of this over a small split roll, which is a great improvement over English muffins that one needs to saw through... We look forward to dining here again! Cash only here...

    Pesto tomato omelet was excellent.

This time, we skipped my usual Wawa run (the Cuban is still elite) and headed to Karla's Restaurant--and it delivered. Set in a charming old house, each room feels intimate and unique. We snagged a patio table and caught the sunset--honestly, it was a little magical. We started with cocktails (my Sidecar was spot-on), then shared: * Caesar salad * Calamari For the entrée, we split the fried chicken sandwich with coleslaw--crispy, flavorful, and more than enough food. And dessert? Carrot cake. Absolutely delicious--moist, perfectly spiced, and finished with that classic cream cheese frosting. A must-order. Service was fun and personable (we even had a doppelgänger moment with our server--still laughing about that). A few notes: * Bathrooms are upstairs via narrow stairs (old-house charm) * Cozy, room-by-room layout * Prices are very fair Bottom line: Great food, great vibe, and a quintessential New Hope dining experience. I'll definitely be back--next time for brunch. Life's short. Eat well.

The salad was the standout, though the omelette was pretty decent as well. I didn't care much for the sandwich, though my mom really enjoyed it -- I thought there was too much breading on the crab cake and not enough meat, which made it soggy and mushy. The espresso martini was delish, and a very generous pour, as they give you a little carafe to refill your glass. Our server was an expert: attentive without pestering. He also offered to split everything for us in the kitchen, which was a classy touch. It's a very cute spot with tables in the window to watch the passersby. On a cooler day, it would be lovely to sit at the outdoor tables for a view of the creek that runs along the exterior. It's also right by the bridge over to New Hope, and there's valet parking, $5 for 3 hours payable electronically.
