I LOVED the donuts from Duck Donuts! I went in on Sunday morning this past Labor Day weekend, and let me tell you--it was packed. I was pretty annoyed that they only had one door, because the line was out the door and at the same time we were contesting with the people trying to leave. They made up for it in speedy, streamlined service and hot, crispy delicious donuts. We only took six home, but the Maple Bacon was fought over, as was the chocolate. They were a million steps above Dunkin Donuts, and they were just as good as our usual donut shop down in Duck, NC. Very happy :) read more

I mean they're donuts...but really good donuts. Went in twice on a Sunday and with or without a line, the experience was the same. What I love is that you can sit there and watch your individual batch of donuts being made from batter to boxing. Best donuts we've ever had. It has become a weekly tradition to bring my two little ones there for a treat. My personal favorite donut is the raspberry glaze with blackberry drizzle. Only downside is the limited seating- only two tables in the main area, and two tables in a tiny room in the back of the store. But everything else is great! read more

This place is absolutely FANTASTIC. I can't say that I am a regular (trust me, if donuts were zero calories, I would be) but when I do make the occasional stop in, it's totally worth it. Forget Dunkin Donuts, there is no doubt in my mind that Duck Donuts is the best donut shop. It's always a joy to see the food being made right in front of you, and fresh donuts are vastly more enjoyable to eat than donuts that have sat out for hours or been packaged. While the concept itself is brilliant, the service also enhanced my experience. The cashiers are quite friendly and, if you aren't sure what goes well with what coating, topping, or drizzle you want, they are always willing to recommend donut combinations. And just as they hand you the donuts, the one who made them always asks if everything looks good. My only complaint is how hectic and disorganized the line to order is, especially when it is busy. I believe a belt or something similar would fix this issue. Overall, Duck Donuts gives you great donuts with just as good service. It has become a tradition for me to go there once weekly, something I recommend others do as well (or however often suits you). read more

So, I'm going to give them a completely unbiased review. My family went there last night and the place was packed at 5:30. It's obviously popular. I've heard the hype surrounding DD for a while, and I had to check it out. I LOVE donuts, so DD was on my list of places to try. I'm not a huge fan of cake donuts, and that's what the base of their product is. While it's a good donut, I'd much rather eat a yeast based donut, like what you'd find a Sugar Shack. We ordered 1/2 dozen. Three vanilla, two maple, and one vanilla w/ sprinkles. The frosting wasn't too sweet, which is a good thing, and the donuts, were very fresh (made to order). We at them at home because they were too hot to eat right away. So, we at them about 20 minutes after buying. Like I said, I'm not a fan of cake donuts, but it's easy to see why people like this place due to the freshness and variety. That being said, I wouldn't feel right giving this place anything less than a 3 star review because it was a good donut. I just don't know if I'd go out of my way to eat there again because it's not yeast based. 3 stars because it was tasty, but not my favorite place to get a donut. read more

We tried Duck Donuts for the first time today (2/21/16) and will definitely be going back. I had a breakfast sandwich everything bagel with egg and sausage AND a couple donuts. The sandwich was good and well worth the price, however, I assumed they would toast the bagel and I don't believe they did. So it was good, not great. The donuts, on the other hand, are awesomely delicious! I read where someone commented the donuts were a little greasy and it's true, there is a touch of greasiness like maybe an order of french fries, but that's a good thing! So many flavors and toppings to mix and match I see an abundance of combinations in our future. read more

Customer service is what excels here with their managers. They do a great job with keeping relations with all guests that come in, even if their visits are infrequent. As for the food, I personally think they are great. What impresses me is that they are always willing to try new things, from new recipes to improving their quality of ingredients. read more

After trying their donuts and loving them, I decided to call in on the way to work to ask them to put a dozen donuts of their choice in a box so I could grab them and run them in for the team. Picking all of the topping and waiting for the frying etc... Takes a bit more time than I have when grabbing donuts for the shop. The response "we only allow pre orders of 3 dozen or more"... Oooook... Just needed some in a box? Oh well. "I'll be there in five minutes". Get there, and am told that they ran out of donut batter at 9am. Three people are walking out the door with donuts. It's not worth Paying 3.50 to 4.00 for a thawed sandwich not to mention the 35 minute wait we had to endure for a rubber sandwich. First impression of the store of my first visit was great. Friendly service and decent donuts. Daughter and fiancé loved them and wanted to make a return trip on 8/30 to purchase more. To my surprise (and many other people who were consistently coming to the door and being turned away) the store was closing THREE hours early due to management hiring a majority staff of minors. Due to school starting the next day. Not sure what the store is going to do the following weekends? The manager was quite condescending and rude when asked about his decision to close, saying if I had checked their Facebook, I could have come out sooner to make a purchase. I'm sorry I have a life outside social media, and don't follow every business or person to make life decisions. The amount of profit lost, from observing the amount of people who were turned away amazes this business move. After being talked to like that, we will not be returning, and continue to tell friends about the experience. Bad news always travels faster than good news. Remember that. read more

A few months ago I went in for a dozen donuts to surprise my co-workers with. When we ate them we were disgusted. There was something weird about them. They tasted very fatty (of course they always are fatty, but they don't usually taste like we are eating grease). I let this location know via PM because it was clear they had a problem. I was annoyed that I had wasted money on them, but they hadn't lost my family and office as customers at that point. When they returned my message, I was told it was because the oil was a new kind and had needed to be replaced, which apparently they did that night. They asked for my address and said they would make it up to me, which I appreciated. Instead, I never received anything in the mail from them. I pinged them to remind them, hoping they weren't just logging my address. They apologized and promised to get back to me that day. I didn't hear from them. After not hearing back from them after waiting three weeks, I let them know that they lost a frequent customer and hoped that they had learned from the way I had been treated. I do wonder why they took my address though, and what they plan to do with it. I'm fine with boycotting this place, but the address thing is a bit creepy. read more

I love THIS Duck Donuts - yes, it has free wifi, yummy donuts, comfortable and inviting decor, reasonable prices, and wonderful service...all Duck Donuts have that. I love THIS Duck Donuts because of Chris who not only is efficient but knows how to listen and develop rapport - a fleeting skill in the food industry today. Chris is a practitioner of empathy, humor, sincerity, honesty, ethics, and that good type of sarcasm. I quit coming to THIS Duck Donuts for a donut and a cup of coffee a long time ago. There are no donuts like Duck donuts. I generally have not interest in donuts, but these delicate little pillows of melt-in-your-mouth cake with just the right amount of crispiness on the edges are another thing altogether.
