Two things made this place a little different. First was the Texas-sized donuts, quite large, like…read morea small steering wheel on streetcar named Diabeetus. An assortment of flavors, from red velvet and sourdough, to cream filled. It was this latter where Texas stands out: they can fill it with a variety of fillings using a machine on every stoners wish list: it injects the donut with flavors. I got two chocolate glazed filled with Bavarian, and whitw creme, and a long john of Bavarian. The cream fillings were great, no trouble there. The donuts were.. different. Donuts have that progression, from air filled Krispy Kreme, to dense cake donuts, and used hockey pucks left over from 1987 Duncan Donuts. I like the airy kind, not so much as Krispy because that's too thin, but something with heft, but air pockets. Texas rides the line between pockets of air and density, and what it tasted like is that they had been airy at one point, but those pockets collapsed on themselves creating a hybrid airy/dense donut. Tasty, but not top of my list. That spot still belongs to Duck Donuts. It's possible the Texas donuts I had were sitting out a bit, or the creme filling caused a collapse of the internal donut structure. I'm not sure but I will go back to try the denser varieties to be sure. Very nice employees, calm and clean interior. Parking is tough, on a hill in tight spots, or down around the hill and climb some stairs.

We ordered the Rueben and the brisket grilled cheese. Both were outstanding! I had the potato salad which was OK but my son got the onion rings which were very good. We grabbed some of their apple cider donuts for the road which were excellent. The staff was friendly and helpful and we really enjoyed this place.

If you're anywhere near Luray Caverns, Shenandoah, or Massanutten, make sure you stop by The Apple House. This hidden gem is a perfect blend of a local shop, diner, and local bar tavern all wrapped into one cozy experience. Because the food is just that good, expect a line but don't let that scare you. It moves quickly and is absolutely worth the wait. The staff is friendly and helpful which adds to the country experience. Whether you're stopping in for breakfast or lunch, you'll be pleasantly surprised by the flavors, portions, and overall experience. You'll leave full, satisfied, and already thinking about your next visit. If you're in the area... trust me, you're going to want to come back.

tl;dr: Yoder's Dutch…read moreDelights is a shop in Manassas Park that has a variety of donuts inspired by their Amish background. While other donut shops specialize in cake donuts, Yoder's focuses more on the raised style. They have several kinds of donuts to choose from, including their "classic" menu (vanilla, maple, cinnamon sugar), as well as their signature menu (turtle, cinnamon toast crunch, maple bacon, Bavarian creme filled.) If you want HUGE donuts, you can also get the food truck size. Be warned though, those are big! I ordered 6 donuts so I could try a little bit of everything. The smores donut was one of my favorites, and as huge as it was, I liked the food truck Bavarian creme. Overall, this was a great way to get a sweet treat on the weekend! Vibes: - Mostly a grab and go spot, but there are a few tables if you'd prefer to hang out and eat your donuts there. Parking: - If you get lucky, there are a couple of spots out front. - If those are taken, you can drive around near the apartments to try to find a spot over there (be sure to read any parking signs, etc.!)

Plenty of seating as we were the only dine-ins. Maybe 7-8 donuts to choose from? The maple sugar had a nice texture; a little chewy substance to it unlike Krispy Kreme or whatever, which is all air, yet not a heavy donut. The raspberry filled had a perfect amount of filling. Like $4.50ish. Would I make the 45-min drive just for Yoder's? No. But if in Manassas area, definitely partaking.
