Here I am writing a review when I should be studying for my midterm. Priorities lol. I try to refrain from buying coffee at Starbucks cos it's unoriginal and pricey. I prefer local coffee shops where the coffee has a better taste and lighter on the wallet. I used to frequent Uptown Espresso in West Seattle but I didn't like the customer service and the bland taste. I found Dubsea recently through yelp, it's closer to my house and has amazing coffee and service. Toddlers often stop by with their parents for a treat and it's fun to people watch these cute little ones. read more

The coffee is great, 4-5 stars. However the service is (at least today) inconsistent. Basic acknowledgment and multi-tasking weren't really in evidence this last visit. I shouldn't be at the counter for longer than a minute before being acknowledged with a : "Be right with you," or something similar. Don't get the oatmeal, there's more oatmeal in the store bought individual packets. I'm sorry but oatmeal has to be the cheapest thing on any cafe's menu, I think if you are going to dress up your oatmeal with steamed milk and cinnamon, I need more than 6 full teaspoons of food. When the owners are there, there's a bit more of a sense of urgency. read more

I have yet to find a coffee shop IN WASHINGTON that trumps dubsea. I've been going here for about 5 years and I know everyone by name, and everyone knows me by name. I always get a hazelnut Americano which is always perfected by my fave barista Shane! I hope one day they can get the open Mic back to bring more of the community together. The inside is somehow charming with the bare basics of white walls featuring a rotating local artist and a bamboo wood/thatch coffee bar. It's obvious that they purposefully cater to the community of young families, aka it's kid friendly. They have a small play area and diaper changing station in the restrooms. Don't let this detour you if you're not into kids like myself, read on... The baristas are always very welcoming and friendly, willing to carry on a conversation with just about anyone. After all, they serve Portland's Stumptown Roasters coffee "for here" in mugs that read "Give Love, Get Love." There are a variety of baked goods (including gluten free options) coming from great local bakeries including Macrina, Le Fournil, Blazing Bagels, Little Rae's bakeries and Mighty-O Donuts, plus pre-made sandwiches/wraps from Mike's East Coast Sandwiches for you to heat up in the microwave (in the hallway towards the restrooms) while on the go. I have never had a coffee creation that was undesirable. The customer service here was underwhelming. Food was unique and flavorful, but quickly lost its appeal with the staff interaction. Large coffee shop, but doesn't allow you to eat or drink indoors. Won't be back as it definitely wasn't a welcoming or enjoyable experience. read more

This place has what you're looking for in a coffee shop. First, the location in the south end of West Seattle is pretty nice. There was ample street parking to be had, which is something I look for at most places I go anymore. The space inside is the perfect mix of open and welcoming. The tables are good distances apart so if one is having a conversation and others are trying to read it's not too distracting. The people working are super friendly and the coffee is pretty awesome. I will definitely be coming back here for my coffee shop needs when in West Seattle! read more

This place is very special... Dubsea Coffee is a beautiful space, lots of light, with high ceilings, great corner location. I had a 12oz mocha here and it was amazing!!! My bf loved his as well. Smooth, not bitter with a generous serving of coffee infused whip. Very nice coffee art as well as cool edgy wall art! Has a nice flow, love the bar which to me is the focal point and draws you in. Great energy about it with eclectic music which is key for a good coffee house. They serve Stumptown roast here with Macrina baked goods. Top Notch! Very fresh and good selection. We also tried the panini sammiches... perfectly grilled, melted cheese and great flav. I definitely recommended this beautfiul coffee house... 5 whopping stars for me! read more

Dubsea has a really beautiful space with lots of tables and interesting art on the walls. I had been meaning to go there for a long time, but I finally made it today. I was impressed by the attentive and friendly staff (both people working kept me up to date on the status of my drinks and food and both worked hard to engage me in conversation). The latte I ordered was very decent. I think that it wasn't the greatest shot ever pulled, but the milk was steamed perfectly, and I am a total sucker for latte art. I very much enjoyed the Vermont breakfast burrito with its peppery and herby combination of egg, cheese, and potatoes. So good. This is definitely a place that I plan to return to. Were it not for the absurdly uncomfortable chairs, I would say it would be a great place to work and study, but it is a great place to grab coffee and a bite to eat. read more

Finally. I have a coffee shop I can walk to from my house. And they are good! Dubsea accomplishes the rare - a mix of hip, trendy, and modern without cliche or pretense. I have been twice the first two days of its existence, and I plan on being a fixture in the establishment. The decor is beautiful, the bakery case is wonderfully stocked (I loved the Raspberry Oat Muffin and the Bluberry Scone), and the coffee is good, too. I am sticking with my vote of 5 stars, but I will offer constructive criticism. My inaugural Americano was not as good as I hoped, the second cup of day #1 was the drip, which I liked, and on day #2 my Americano was better. So, things are definitely on a upward trend. Oh, and November means bring on the Egg Nog! The music is played at the perfect level - delightfully audible, but not intrusive, the ownership is stellar, and the staff rocks. Dubsea is MY neighborhood cafe, but you should definitely leave your neighborhood to visit. You won't be sorry. Oh, and the current art installation is fantastic! read more

Charming little place in white center where to me, it's a little unexpected. I just went in there on a break from work to get some breakfast. I got a ham and cheese croissant and an apple turnover. Both were absolutely delicious! Not a huge coffee fan, but they do have Stumptown coffee. I also heard some ladies chit chatting about the great breakfast sandwiches they have. You know that combination of chill, laid-back baristas making a solid cup of coffee that know all the regulars, all in a cool, funky, neighborhoody kind of place? Yeah, that's Dubsea. I came in to meet up with someone from White Center, and was a little dubious at first about the coffeeshop. But I figured I'd give it a try and see what I thought. Well, I was floored. It's a neighborhood place with some of the best coffee I've had in Seattle. It passed the plain soy latte test (coffee that's really good should be tasty enough without any syrups or flavorings getting in the way) with flying colors, and the barista behind the counter was super-nice, even though we had never met, and it was clear she was used to having small talk with all her customers. If you're in the neighborhood, check it out! You'll be glad you did. But don't go in without expecting a bit of a conversation from the people behind the counter. NOT A BREAKFAST OR BRUNCH PLACE - as tagged in Yelp. We found this place on the way to the airport, as a breakfast spot. We checked the menu and walked out. It's a coffee shop with some sandwich options. That's it. Unfortunately, it is just on the edge of a very run-down neighborhood and we had to get back to the freeway and travel 20 mins to find a decent place. I just wish the Yelp listing wouldn't have been so misleading. We could have saved the time and found another place sooner. read more

What a cool place, I was in West Seattle hanging with a friend , and he was like hey you want to go get some coffee, hey you don't have to ask me twice when it comes to coffee at first I was like are they open, but then we saw people walking in the door as we were parking, years ago we used to get a drink called a Hail Marry its a Chia Latte with a little chocolate, (morning glory) and when we told the lady about it she was I can try to make you one of those, and she did a great job it was so damn tasty very cool people here we met the owner and she was sweet as they come, we also met the artist who has his stuff on the walls, also he has these cool bandannas that he has made they come from Mexico and are Free Trade Wares he was doing a live painting last night while they had a open mike, poetry ready and what not very nice and cool place I'm sure will try to go back, and my friend who lives over there will be back for sure read more

So straight up, I like my coffee big and bold...strong...cowboy coffee...if you can't float a horseshoe on the surface, it ain't done yet. Unfortunately, the coffee here is extremely mild. I drink straight latte's, no flavor, and I have to get a triple shot tall in order to taste the coffee over the milk. That being said, the coffee does taste good, it just isn't very strong. So minus one star for me. The cafe on the other hand is nice...the folks behind the counter are always friendly. The baked goods are always fresh and tasty and the prices are reasonable at just under six bucks for my triple shot tall latte and a large blueberry scone. Oh, they also give a small discount if you pay cash..so bring cash. I would like to give them four or five stars just for the atmosphere, design, friendliness, etc...but the weak coffee just stops me. It really is all about the coffee. I love this place. The people who work here are so nice and they make delicious coffee. I love their cardamom lattes (hot and iced). They make quality espresso. Their caprese sandwich is delicious. And it is a great place to hang out with friends or grade papers. They have rotating art work and stuff from students in local schools on the walls. There's a kids play area. This is between a 3 and a 4, but I decided to bump it up. The space is bright and airy, and showcased some interesting local artwork. Several wooden tables are scattered throughout, inviting you to sit, but not to lounge. The baristas were friendly enough, and I ended up with some sort of latte art on my mocha. The mocha itself was good. I am honestly not really a coffee person so it is not something I felt I should be spending $4 on, but I don't really have any complaints with the taste. I also ordered a breakfast wrap, and that I do have some complaints about. The wrap was cheap ($3.50) but the meat was obviously very low quality, and the advertised roasted potatoes were sprinkled through so sparingly that I was not away they were there until my last bite. The upside is that this burrito is put into a panini press, which delivered a hot and crispy product. I do not live in the neighborhood, so it is unlikely that I will return. However, if I find myself in White Center in need of some caffeine I'll know which shop to turn to. read more

I get how this could be a great coffee shop. To be honest I went here because a few reviews of other coffee shops in the area were compared to is, so my buddy and I decided to check it out. I got a drip coffee and my buddy got a chai. We both got pastries. I was a little sad to see the limited selection of foods this place had. Several things from Molly's but nothing really original. I got my pastry right away but had to wait nearly 15 for my drip coffee. My friend had to wait longer for the chai and when he asked it looked like someone forgot to make it. The place was very loud and overall uncomfortable. It did not seem the kind of place to pass an hour or so reading or getting work done. It did have a large play space for kids and seemed intended for families rather than for people trying to get work done or talk. I'll also note that we both had difficulty getting on their wifi and eventually left because of it. I'll say also that the coffee was very good. I don't know that the service being so slow was a regular thing, Considering that this place has such a high star score on here and is so near to so many other coffee spots, I'd imagine that we simply were there on an off day. think it's an OK spot, but I don't think it's ever going to be my go to place. read more

The environment is outstanding. Enormous windows, a tall airy ceiling, a quiet street, ample parking. If you dislike the cheap "homey" feel of some smaller inner-city coffee shops with bad doorknobs that belong in houses not establishments, and creaky wicker chairs -- this is the place for you. Otherwise, you might find it sterile and industrial. I love it. Perfect for both work and relaxation. Lots of individual tables, as well as some wall/bar seating with outlets. Never gets too loud, by either patrons or the music. Full range of espresso drinks and multimodal coffee, including Aeropress. Typical cafe food available: wraps, hot sandwiches, and the like (alas, pre-prepared). Always friendly staff. This is my go-to saturday afternoon. read more

I stop by this coffee house Periodically when I have work nearby. I decided it's time to write a review because I have received excellent service every time I've stopped. I love their coffee, in addition to that, I've tried the chai tea latte and the green tea latte. The lattes are the best I've had. There is also a decent selection of pastries and sandwiches. You can find great coffee in a lot of locations in the Seattle area. The staff at Dubsea is the real reason this place is special. They welcome customers with friendly attitudes and smiles. They make you feel welcome. If I lived a little closer they would have my business every day. I will definitely be back when I find myself close by again. So pleasantly surprised to know the this place exists. I've never explored this part of White Center before (usually just go to the main strip on 16th) and now I'm kicking myself for not finding it earlier! The space and atmosphere is aesthetically on point. If I had a coffee shop, it would look exactly like this place. Beautiful. The barista who served us was friendly and talkative, and when I ordered the cardamom latte with almond milk, she asked if I wanted it sweetened with honey, since they usually sweeten it with condensed milk. Just that little bit of extra thought was much appreciated. The cardamom latte was so good. It wasn't overly-sweet and had a good amount of spice to it... almost reminded me of a dirty chai but I think I like this more. My boyfriend got a mocha and said it was one of the best mochas he has had. I tasted it and agreed. Sometimes even good mochas can get a bit of grit to them, but this was smooth and silky and creamy. Since we don't often order "fancy" drinks it's always a joy to have legitimately delicious ones when we do. They have a lot of different options for food and a lot of choices for people with dietary restrictions, which is always good to see. Living just north of this area, I can see myself stopping by pretty often, and I really look forward to it. read more

Dubsea coffee was one of our first cycling stop espresso reviews by #TheCycleCafe. It was a discovery that we came upon while at the midpoint of a long cycling ride. It was just what we needed on a cold Seattle morning. Good service, plenty of variety on the menu, and most importantly they delivered an excellent espresso including the traditional soda water accompaniment. The interior has a pleasant modernly spare atmosphere. When in White Center, Dubsea Coffee is the go to place for a good espresso based beverage. When we visited there was cash discount. I picked up a drink and breakfast sandwich to go, though it took quite a while to get these items. I tried the Cardamom latte with soy and iced. It was good! I was a little hesitant because I don't think I've ever had cardamom in a latte, though I occasionally drink chai and so I thought the spices would be ok? Anyway, it was good. My friend got a blended beverage, and that was very yummy too. Better than a Starbucks Frappuccino. The Pesto breakfast sandwich though wasn't particularly interesting. Didn't even notice the pesto that was in it or was it even in there? It wasn't bad, but nothing I cared for, except that I needed some food. Would come back for the drinks! read more
