First of all, although Dublin Sewing Center does not carry every brand, however, they do carry quality machines that are in the higher price point but remember, you get what you pay for. After receiving demonstrations on a Baby Lock Acclaim Serger and a Baby Lock Presto II sewing machine, there is a distinct difference in the stitching compared to my Singer 6380 I purchase 3 months ago. Today, I bit the bullet and bought the Acclaim Serger. No other brand can come close to their overlock stitching. The stitching is just beautiful! I will be purchasing the Presto sewing machine in the near future after I sell my Singer 6380. It is a must to try chairs. They are super comfortable and reasonably priced. The staff is so nice, patient and friendly; Kim was my sales associate and she didn't disappoint! Darren, I think that's his name, takes care of repairs and the man knows his stuff!!! Lastly, if you purchase a sewing machine from them you receive a lifetime of free classes at their store which is a huge bonus. I highly recommend purchasing a sewing machine/serger from Dublin Sewing Center and pickup a chair while you're at it. Spend the money and treat yourself to get a quality machine. I brought my sewing machine in today because although I wasn't due for a cleaning, I thought that might have been why I was having an issue with my needle. Nope! My problem was solved lickety-split, and the solution was explained in detail. When I did bring my machine in for a cleaning under a year ago the service was exceptional. The drop-off was easy and the turn-around was faster than expected. I have also stopped by to purchase additional feet for my machine as well as some notions. They offer a number of classes, but I have not signed up for one yet. Items are reasonably priced and every month there is a deal on some notion. Everyone in the shop seems extremely knowledgeable. When it will be time for me to purchase a new machine, this is the shop I will go to. Not only did they get both machines up and working again, but they explained exactly what had happened and gave me back the broken parts. And they had my machines back to me 6 days earlier than predicted. Pricewise, their service costs were less expensive then where I was taking my machine before. Dublin Sewing Center is a lovely place to get an inexpensive sewing machine service. My mom retired in the pandemic and has sewn over 500 face masks, quilts, etc. She puts a lot of figurative mileage on her Janome, and so we wanted to get it serviced. She asked me to take it to Dublin since I live down here and her quilting friends recommended it. DSC, while it doesn't retail Janome machines, will still service them. They charged $115 and asked for three weeks to get it done. While dropping it off, I mentioned that the machine slows down and speeds up intermittently, despite constant pedal pressure. They cautioned that if they need to do a more extensive repair, it might cost more. Well, two and a half weeks later, I got a call that the service was complete. The electrical contacts were pretty grimey, and after a clean up, the machine has a consistent speed. Mom thought they did a fantastic job. To put the service cost in reference, the Sewing Machine Shop in Walnut Creek where she purchased this Janome, charged $150 for a service about 10 years ago. That was the going price in Houston, TX, about 6 years ago. $115 seemed like a steal. The only downside for me was this place has pretty limited hours. For someone who has long days at the office, it was a bit of a juggle to drop off and pick up the machine. read more

This place is great! I bought a walking foot online and then they couldn't help me understand why it didn't work even though it said it fit my model sewing machine. My husband reminded me about this place, and it was great! They realized the machine was an older model and therefore the shank was different than the newer version. Went into Dublin Sewing Center to look at upgrading my old Brother machine. I met with Mark this morning and what a wonderful experience I had. Mark is extremely knowledgeable and patient with all my questions. He showed me all the features and allowed me to play with the machine, thread it, sew on it, along with all the "how to's" I am new to quilting having successfully made my first quilt, I'm ready for more! My mother dropped off her sewing machine at Dublin Sewing Center on 5/28. It was the second time within a month she's had to bring the machine in for repairs because the technicians were unable to properly address the problem during the last repair. At that time of the drop-off, Dave informed her that he would begin working on the repairs that Friday (5/29). She called back to check on the status of her machine on Monday afternoon (6/1) and Dave informed her that he had not yet even taken a look at the machine. When she asked him for more information on when he would be able to get to the servicing he became exasperated and told her that he didn't know as he was working alone. We believe this excuse to be untrue, however, as we saw 2 additional repair technicians in the store with Dave at the time of the drop off. In his exasperation, Dave attempted to hang up on my mother, but was unsuccessful in his attempt which allowed her to hear him yell "N***er! Can't stand that black lady" a few moments after she heard the slamming of the phone on the other line. She went to pick up her machine that afternoon and when confronted about what he'd said, Dave apologized giving the excuse that he's "normally such a nice guy" and simply "feeling overworked". However, being exhausted is no reason to use racist slurs. I would strongly urge potential customers to avoid doing business at Dublin Sewing Center as they clearly do not value and respect customers of all races and ethnicities. It's especially disheartening that this incident happened in the midst of the current anti-racist protests in our country. Anti-racism work begins by holding our fellow community members accountable. read more

I wish I could report I had a positive experience. I called Dave today to check on my sewing machine. It was at Dublin Sewing Center for the second time within a months time. Four days ago he told me he'd look at Friday. I hadn't heard from Dave so I called asking about the status of my machine inspection. He tells me he hadn't even looked at my machine. Despite the lady I'd seen and the 2 repair technicians Dave told me were there, he claimed to be overwhelmed because he was working alone. I guess I wasn't supposed to question Dave about the missed commitment because he angrily slammed down the phone while yelling out nigger! When I picked my machine up, Dave profusely apologized. However, in this day and age and given recent events surrounding race relations in the US, it's deeply disturbing that he instinctively hurls racial insults. read more

I wanted to invest and get a better machine than what I had and decided on the Bernina 350, I phoned and spoke to David (the owner), he was super nice and contacted Bernina regarding my inquiry. He phoned me right back with the answers and took the time to explain some of the features I was looking for. The Bernina is a rock star and I have already completed three projects today. They are very fair and honest, I never knew there were so many styles of thread, their selection of thread is quite impressive! Dublin Sewing Center stands by their products and they service several brands of machines. They have classes as well on many levels of sewing, quilting. serger, embroidery, starting out etc. I drove an hour to get there and he and his staff were amazing and I could not be happier, it was worth it and I will be a lifelong customer! read more

I hauled my Baby Lock serger to the Dublin Sewing Center because the needle threader was giving me fits. Previously I would have taken my machine to the sewing business near my former employer but I decided to stay local. The repair guy made the time in his schedule to fix my serger while I waited. In the meanwhile, the helpful staff showed me some of the advances in Baby Lock sergers. There was absolutely no sales pressure. I appreciated seeing the advances in technology. When my needle threader was fixed, I had to ask if the amount I was being charged was correct. From experience, I know I would have paid at least six times the amount at the other business and would have been without my serger for at least a week. Been in there multiple times over the years. My mother had her old Singer serviced there for ages. It is always the same with them, high pressure sales. Gird your loins before going in. It is all about selling you the most expensive machine they can. A neighbor has bought from them. Whenever she goes in with a problem they upsell her and new machine and a payment plan, where they make a small mint off of her trade-in old/new sewing machine! At least three times now. Honestly, she never cannot afford it. That same neighbor went for her "free" lesson (twice) on one of those machines. They taught her NOTHING. They taught the class with a different model machine, that did not match with her machines instructions (I know since I borrowed her manual and read it to figure out what she was doing incorrectly. It was a simple, but weird thing she had to do with that model; then it worked perfectly for her until they upsold her ANOTHER machine she did not want.) So be prepared to get the manual and watch internet videos, they do not help much. These people are brutal. Watch out. read more

Have you ever gone to a restaurant, lets say it's a four star restaurant right after your workout at the gym? You'd feel awkward right? The maitre 'd would of course look down his nose and perhaps say something to the effect of, "I don't mean to be rude but " and then proceed to inform you that your attire is inappropriate. Well, of course! What do you expect? You came in with perhaps nothing but an appetite. You're sweaty, likely smelly and possibly clad in lycra. That's inappropriate. To their credit they have a wide array of high end machines and all their amenities. They do also provide classes on weekdays to ensure their patrons know exactly how to use their newly acquired equipment properly for multiple purposes. These include but are not limited to embroidery, quilts & sewing. They get a star for that. They get another star for having quite the stock of instructional material. I was quite impressed. This is more than a place to just buy sewing machines and services. Dublin sewing Center is a complete sewing supply and education center. Don't let the modest location fool you, everything required for machine driven projects is available there except fabrics. Especially important in the high tech world of today's machines is the training and support to use these machines. If you buy a machine there they teach you how to use it's advanced features as part of the purchase. My wife and I have traded at Dublin Sewing Center for more than 25 years. I think we have bought two sergers, a long arm quilting machine, a Viking SE, Viking Diamond, Viking Emerald, and recently a Viking EPIC, a sewing cabinet, cutting table, and uncountable number of threads and accessories, three embroidery programs, clubs and specialized classes. As you can gather my wife really enjoys sewing. She enjoys learning and doing projects. All of which requires tools, materials, and training. She enjoys this hobby and takes great pride in her completed work. Needless to say with this much equipment there have been those times when equipment fails. We have are grateful to not only have a local place to buy things but also an outstanding place to get things fixed and serviced on site. Sewing machines are complex pieces of machinery. They have not only mechanical problems, cleaning, and alignment but today there in the added functionality from high tech circuit boards, precision motors, and exacting sensors. On a business level, I bought a new machine from Dave about 4 years ago. They offer free classes on your machine when you purchase there. I bought a Bernina and it was my first Bernina, so I was totally unfamiliar with it. The day I had my "class" I was there for about 2 hours with one other customer. The person "teaching" the class asked us what we wanted to know. She showed us how to thread our machines and that was about all. It was a waste of time. I spoke to Dave about wanting better instruction on how to use my machine more times than I can count. He promised he was going to hire a Bernina specialist. It never happened! Most of what I've learned about my machine is thru my friend and the manual. It was very frustrating getting numerous false promises! read more

I was able to find a factory Bernina part here that is near impossible to obtain anywhere. It's the smallest self threaded. Which yes I don't 'need' but I'm old and my eyesight is going and it's a nice luxury. The spring in mine broke and I didn't trust aftermarket parts. Glad I found this place. There are not enough positive superlative words to describe how I rate this business. Dublin Sewing Center is a much farther drive for me than many other sewing store options, but I will now always do that drive because of who they are and how they treat their customers. From the front desk to the sales team to the technical support to their management, this is simply a top-notch organization. I took it back to the shop for it's yearly maintenance and somehow decided all on my own that I needed an upgrade. I want you to know this was all MY DOING! I generally dont bother with bad reviews, i like to leave feedback for places that i have enjoyed, but this just ticked me off. Went in to drop off a machine to have it fixed, even though the last machine you 'fixed' still doesnt work right. This one died in the middle of a project, asked if I could use a machine there to finish it (literally two minutes) was immediately cut off and told no, but my Mom was told that we could buy a machine for $99 because they didn't rent machines. Needless to say, I walked out with my machine, and went to Joanns. The Rep there was happy to help us and demo the machine with my project, even though they were busy. Not only did you lose a customer for repairs, we also bought a new machine for $3000. Obviously, we were one of those customers that another reviewer talked about that didn't look good enough for your business. read more
