Came down to trade in my car as well to compare the Kia Optima verse the new 2014 Mazda 6. I made an appointment with Gregory and all I can tell you is if your going to Mazda to purchase a new car don't go through any one else BUT Gregory. I have had a fair share of your typical car sales men, and Gregory was not your typical sales men. He listened to what I was looking for, he knew everything about the car and all the settings and features down to the T. He wasn't pushy, he was very friendly, he didn't bluff and act like he knew everything about the car, if he didn't know the answer he would tell you straight up, he also made the long car process go smooth and very fast. I am a returning customer. I was content with prior purchase (2016 Mazda6 GT). So I figured I would come right back to purchase another vehicle. This one would be a gift for my mother. I communicate with the internet sales manager and he provides an itemized price for the vehicle. I advise that I will be in on Saturday to test drive and he agrees. I arrive on Saturday and we cannot locate internet sales manager. No problem because I never provided a time when I would arrive and after about 10 minutes later someone else was able to provide a quick test drive. I email sales manager on Monday and request meteor gray CX-5 GT and he responds with price and availability. I agree to come in on Wednesday to discuss and work on final price. I receive communication on Wednesday afternoon that the vehicle is sold but he can locate similar/same car at another dealership with an additional $200 for transfer fee. Ok, no big deal. I arrive on Wednesday at 5 ( left work early and work in SF). I meet sales manager and he immediately advises me that cars price has increased $1k since he provided price 48 hours ago. I asked why did he not conveye this to me prior to my arrival. He claims to have sent me an email that he can never find. I say ok and leave. I am in and out within 3 minutes of my arrival after leaving work 2 hours early and + 1 hour commute. I come home and feel pretty upset about the price change and lack of communication. I reach out to the GM and he agrees to honor initial price and assures me dealership will make it right. I agree to another visit this upcoming Friday. Prior to arriving I agree to a different color ( Sonic silver) as the meteor gray is currently not available. Prior to my arrival sales person calls me confirms I will still make it and that vehicle is READY for delivery. I arrive with my family (new born son, wife, brother, and sister-in-law) as this is a gift for my mother and our hope is to finally present her with her gift this evening. We arrive at 6:15 I see vehicle and we begin to complete paper work. At 7:30 we have a problem. Apparently, no one knew that the car I was about to be sold had +4,500 miles on it. They apologize again and offer to possibly sale me this one at a discounted price, but would not give me the price as they feel that it is not much of a discount. They assure me that they found another car at another dealership and it will be available tomorrow. This vehicle has a little more options but the say " we will eat the cost" since they made the mistake and wasted my family's time. I still have patience, so I agree. I receive a call the following day expecting to hear "Your car is ready for pick-up", but instead I hear that the car we discussed and agreed upon yesterday evening will only increase my payments by $15.00 a month. I say, "you advised me you would eat the cost due to your errors". They respond, " I am sorry for the inconvenience and understand if you take you business elsewhere. We appreciate your patience and sorry for the inconvenience". The next day I communicate with the MAZDA OF FREMONT. I speak with Young Chi. We agree on a price over the phone and I am in out of the dealership within 2 hours. Dublin Mazda has forever lost my business, along with my family, and anyone else who asks me my opinon of this dealership (I get asked pretty frequently as mazda vehicles are sleek and attract positive attention). Terrible dealership. First of all, the first sales guy had issues locating the vehicle I wanted in their inventory. Then they finally found the key, and the tag said red, but the computer said black. I wanted a black car. So it took forever for the guy to check the records and looking at the invoice, etc... Before confirming it was black. Car found, but then I got handed off to another sales guy. Okay fine. Test drove two cars. Talked etc... At the lot. Finally sitting down to "talk" numbers. They started asking questions and I wanted to know the price of the cars first, not just a monthly payment amount. Is that too much to ask? The guy said "this is not how we do business here". Are you kidding me? Fine, I let him go get the numbers his way. I can back out the monthly payment to a purchase price. First thing he brings back? A financing sheet full of other charges (10k+) I did not ask for. We didn't even discuss any of it. It was just a tacked on item. Talk about deceit. I said no, so he comes and brings back another sheet. I didn't like the purchase price (msrp less the standard Mazda ~700 rebate) and told them I haven't checked out Fremont Dublin yet, but a sales guy over there emailed me a quote and offer and I wanted to see if Dublin would be able to match that offer. The guy then starts to get pissed. He goes to "see" if he can get a new price. Comes back with my trade in keys. And tells me that I can go to Fremont if I want. And then he makes a snark comment about how people come to this Dublin location after going to Fremont and getting bad service. Wow, this dealership is completely talking trash about another dealer. He then tells me to check Yelp and see how Dublin has so much better reviews than Fremont. Haha, a quick Google search and google reviews quickly showed me that this isn't the case. Pretty much telling me to leave and get out. So I did. This was all yesterday. So today, writing this review, I got the exact car I wanted, at the exact price I wanted, all with no bullshit. I have Dublin in Burlingame to thank for. As soon as I drove up, a sales guys runs to greet me before I step foot on their lot. This didn't happen at Dublin. When it came to talk about pricing, barebones pricing. No added crap. The guy didn't make me want to negotiate. He reduced the price way below msrp, something that Dublin didn't do. So no haggling. After the sales guy at Dublin was done bad mouthing other dealers, he told me to give him a call once I looked at other dealers, and he can talk about me wanting a Mazda then. Lol, not a chance. Your terrible sales reps just lost on a sale of a brand new 2016 Mazda 6 Touring with moonroof and a Bose system. Love my new Mazda 6, love Burlingame, HATE Dublin. Updating my review. During my appointment I told them my passenger rear tire was losing air. They said they will look at it but it might be the weather affecting it. They said they looked and didn't find anything. About a week later I found a big nail in my tire that was completely visible, they must not have checked. Disappointing. read more

Update: 9/4/15 They must have sold me a dud car. I've been back to the deal ship for 2 separate tire issues and once because a sensor was not working and my car wouldn't start. Today I had to have the car towed to a mechanic because one of the tire issues wasn't fixed correctly. This issue is costing me $250. I hate this car and have nothing but issues since I bought it. No wonder someone had bought this 2014 and returned it the same year!!! read more

On 5-4-12, I purchased a Mazda CX5 from Dublin Mazda. After visiting other dealers, to find either lack of inventory or in one case rather inept sales people, I found that dealing with Dublin Mazda was a positive experience. It began with Finance Director Tony Roberts, who was pleasant, professional, and had very good knowledge of their inventory. I was provided a test drive by Salesman Michael Barrilleaux, who had a most complete and technical knowledge of this SUV. Mr Barrilleaux was not in any way pushy and was straight forward in answering all my questions. He was the most pleasant and personable auto salesman I have ever dealt with. After less than favorable experiences in the Santa Cruz and San Jose areas with dealers close by to me, Mr Barrilleaux saw to it that a 70 plus mile drive to Dublin was well worth my effort. When i was looking at the website for this dealership i found a that they had a Certified Pre-Owned 2013 Mazda3 for sale. I emailed them to see what kind of a deal we could come to. I got an email back from Juan Vasquez, and we negotiated a price that worked out for the both of us. When i came in today to inspect and test drive the car to make sure it was what i wanted before purchasing for the agreed amount, Juan Vasquez said he would not be able to make it in, and for me to speak with a Bruce Bode about the car in question. When i got there he asked me which car I was looking at (apparently he didn't know what was going on), so i gave him the stock # to see if he could track it down, as it was not located on the lot. When he came back he told me he could not sell me the car as it did not pass inspection due to rust being underneath the car. When i asked why i was not informed of this prior to coming to the lot to buy the car, he did not have an answer for me. He went back into the office for a minute to see what he could do. When he came back out a 2nd time, he told me that he can actually sell me the car, but it cannot be certified. I sure as hell wasn't going to buy a car that their site claimed to be certified, yet they themselves cannot certify it. So I left with no intention of coming back. I emailed Juan Vasquez shortly after asking why I was not informed about this before coming down to the dealership and wasting my time, but I have yet to receive an email back with any type of explanation. Apparently customer service to this place means lying to a customer to get him/her down to the lot just to have them hear that they cannot be sold a car that is listed on their website as being a certified pre-owned vehicle. Why would this dealer post an ad for a car that they claim is "certified pre-owned" before actually doing an inspection on the car to make sure that it can even be called certified? Will not be doing any business with this dealer again. Save your money, buy a car from somewhere other than this dealer. read more

UDPATE: General Manager Dave Brown contacted me immediately, to clear up any misunderstanding, and explain what happened. The edited review below still is an accurate reflection of what I experienced. I do commend them for trying to improve their customer service. There are many car dealerships where they almost don't care if you are a one-time customer only. ----------------------------------------------------------- SHORT STORY: - Vehicles have a good chance of having dealer installed options on them, that are added cost to the factory-equipped price. These aren't mentioned on the website. If you are calling the dealership or emailing them for quotes ask them to specifically check the vehicle, as the dealer options can be added unbeknownst to the salesforce. These options are listed on a separate tag on the vehicle. . - Make sure all $ amounts are exactly as you have negotiated as there is always human error; bug them about all the details. Don't assume. This is a good practice in any transaction where you are the buyer in a large transaction - They offer competitive prices and will honor SPlan prices for those who qualify. Full review: Attention to detail is one of the things that separates one product provider from another. in this day and age where one can price shop online or through autobuying "programs" like Costco, it's really the small things that make a difference. We've had our eye on a CX-5 for a little while now, like most of the car buying world, and after doing a test drive at Capitol Mazda (they refused to negotiate one penny) I found Dublin Mazda. I had long email chain with the internet sales guy. He told me that they have the CX5 in the color, trim, and drive option I wanted, and a price was agreed upon. So I scheduled an appointment with him the next day. What I was NOT told is that the CX5 I want (and all their CX5s at the time of this review) had dealer installed options on it that are in addition to the factory-equipped price. I understand the business reasons why a dealership wants to sell these options/accessories but this should be communicated to the prospective buyer at the time of price quotation and start of negotiation. (The general manager tells me that it was not deception on the salesman's part and just that there was missed communication between management and the salesforce on which vehicles will get installed options. Dealer installed options are handwritten on a separate tag on the vehicle) These dealer installed options may include any combination of: cargo mat, wheel locks, bumper guard, leather seats/interior, fancier wheels, or nav system. Some of these can be removed if unwanted, but may require some negotiating to do so. We negotiated for a while, but ultimately we walk away the first night. The next day the salesman emails me back and offers a lower price. I agree and head back there after work. When we go through the paperwork, I find that the price on the paper work is $12 more than what we agreed upon. It's only $12, but it's clear that the salesman didn't double-check his email for the exact price. It's the principle of the matter. If we agree on price $X, that's the exact amount that better be on the sale price when I sign. One of the purchase options available to customers is the ability to post-date personal checks to make sure any funding is in place. We took advantage of this option, however they deposited the check the next day. Luckily the funds were available, but someone slipped up on this. Ultimately at the end of the day, we got the vehicle we wanted for a very good price. read more

I am torn here. On the one hand, they found the car we wanted, pretty-much met the price we set, and everyone was very nice--especially Tom Rood. A salesman even delivered the car to my home. On the other hand, I spent almost three hours at the dealership AFTER we'd struck our deal. The salesman (not Tom) wasn't trying to upsell, believe it or not. He was just amazingly inefficient. It took him at least an hour to fill out a 2-3 pages worth of documents. After that, there was only one person who could actually take my check (nope, not financing--literally accepting a check) and I waited over an hour for him to be free. Then it turned out they hadn't installed something, notwithstanding all that extra time. I eventually grew hungry enough that I was ready to walk out, but they didn't offer so much as chips from the vending machine.... I'd like to give these folks 5 stars for being friendly, and the negotiations were reasonable. Sadly, I just can't quite get over the 3+ hours that were hijacked from my day, without anyone there seeming to take it very seriously. read more

I came in thinking I knew exactly what I wanted. The staff showed me all the options, they were so patient with all my indecision. As it turned out I left with the car that was right for me and it wasn't what I originally came in for (psst.. It's BETTER). Michael B's customer service really won me over. I tested at least 6 versions of the same car. Never irritated not pushy and very patient with me. I know dealing with a variety of people can wear any great customer service person down at the end of long day, but Michael handled everything with calm grace. His humor was appreciated. The finance team didn't play hard ball or drama which we appreciated. Reyes got us great Apr financing (lower than what we thought). I've owned toyotas my entire life. I switched to mazda with this first purchase. So far I'm very pleased! As for the car? 2014 mazda3 with 40 mpg? Can a compact really look this sexy and have sporty handling?!? and Mpg? Believe it!! At first they are willing to help u find the right car but once I bought my car, I drove it home and the next day my car died. It would drive at all. I called my insurance AAA to help place a battery but that wasn't the problem. I called Mazda of Dublin back and they wanted me to use my Tow privileges from AAA. Can't believe the nerve! So I told them they better have someone come tow it for me. After they fixed a major problem with the car I told them the breaks were squeaky. They said they had checked it and it was fine. Turns out the break pads were wearing out and I had to change it. Talk about bad experience. read more

My boyfriend and I drove several hours to this dealership because I was interested in a specific car that was on-line. I spoke with Mike B. through chat on autotrader.com prior to making the trip out there. He assured me that if I we drove all that distance he could "work with us on the price". In the same conversation online I asked him what he knew of the cars past. He told me it had only had one owner and was very well kept and clean inside. However.... nothing was what he had told me. The car had technically had one owner, a rental agency. The interior had much more wear and tear then he had lead me to believe. We then went inside to see how much he could move on the price. He told us he could do NOTHING! Were told they were already not making money on the car and it was already a good deal and his version of working with the price was taking out a loan for a longer period of time. Meaning same total price, lower monthly payments for a longer period of time, gross. Finally we told him if they cant go down on price there are other car dealerships we wanted to look at and we would contact him if we decided to get the car. Long story short the sales manager intervened before we got to the door, but still not willing to lower the price. At this point we we're done. We marched out to the parking lot and the salesman actually followed us to our car trying to get us to change our minds. After leaving the lot he called my phone twice and my boyfriends phone twice before my boyfriend finally told them we had been pushed too far and will not be returning no matter what they offer. So recently my car was totaled and I had to go car shopping. I spoke with and visited several Mazda dealerships around the Bay Area, and surprise, surprise: many of the salesmen treated me like an effing idiot and tried to push me around because I'm young/ a first time buyer/ a girl/ whatever else reason. I suppose I would compare the experience to something close to a waterboarding session (ahem Fremont). Fortunately, Dublin Mazda is nothing like that. They gave me a straight price over email (which was also the best price of everywhere I checked) and didn't try tricking me into buying anything I didn't want. Also they didn't blow up my phone like a jealous ex, which is, you know... nice. Danny Fernandez is the absolute best salesman (and I hesitate to use this word because he is genuinely nice and not pushy) and Brian Lewand is the most knowledgeable technician and the one I trust most to service my new car! I recently found myself in need of another used car, and was told that Keith Morita was the person to see. I am glad that I did. I hadn't bought a car in a while, and Keith was patient with my questions and the time it took for me to make a decision. He was genuinely interested in me finding a car that would best suit my needs and did not pressure me. I recently purchased a 2014 Mazda 3 from Dublin Mazda. I'd done my research, and after an inventory search at dealers around the Bay Area, and I found they had a model similar to what I wanted. I'm a 20-something woman and a first-time buyer, but my dad has bought over 10 cars in the course of my lifetime and I've been with him on every single trip to the dealership, so I'm young, but not naive to the car sales game. I was prepared for my buying experience to be a little more treacherous than my dad's, and I was right. That being said, I want to be fair in the review and give credit where it's due. Nick Z greeted me when I got to the dealership and was awesome about showing me around and answering my questions. He was patient in taking me on a longer test drive and talked me through some of the various features of the car. He was professional, knowledgable, and respectful throughout the process. Reyes, the sales manager, got involved when it came down to talking numbers. He heard me out on my price point and was fair in his negotiations. He didn't try to BS me about any "extras" and was straight with me about the financing. I wound up walking out after the first day of negotiations only because I wanted to see about the trade-in vs. sales value of my previous car. He was polite and courteous as I left and greeted me kindly the next day when I came in. Then we got to John, the finance manager. Now, I understand that everything that happens up until you get into this conversation is pretty much null and void, so I was ready for the numbers to start to look a little different and need to negotiate again. (Go into this room with the total number you have previously negotiated including taxes and fees in writing and do not deviate from that number. Period). I understand that his job is to get the most money out of me on the spot as possible. He has to eat, too. Totally fair. My problem is the way he went about it. Greeting me with "You have such beautiful hair" is not a good start, and interrupting negotiations to note the color of my eyes is just ridiculous. I'm a customer, not a model. If you want to compliment me, compliment my choice of car or the amount of research I've done. It went downhill from there. I knew I didn't want the extended warranty or the maintenance package, and I made that clear, while he continuously used words like "illogical" and suggested I "call my dad" to make sure I was making the right choice. At some point in the conversation I mentioned my dad was an attorney, and a comment was made about attorneys and doctors always being good to have in the family. I responded, "No doctors for us" to which he replied (I wish I was making this up), "Well, maybe you'll marry one." Aside from that, he played games with the APR and quoted me at 8% when I walked in the room, then tried to convince me he could do a magic trick bringing the APR down if I agreed to the maintenance package. Which is ludicrous. Of course he "talked to the bank" after I'd vehemently denied both extras and suddenly my APR was at a reasonable 3% again with my predicted monthly payments. Ultimately, I got the price I walked in the room with after over an hour of this. Bottom line: I shouldn't leave feeling like I would have been treated differently had I brought my dad/boyfriend/husband with me. I'm not going to give you more money because you tell me I'm pretty. I'm an intelligent adult trying to make a big purchase, which I have carefully saved and planned for. It is 2014. Treat women like people. read more

This Mazda dealer is quite a bit further away than other dealers, but I am willing to make the extra drive after my experience here. Shortly after I moved to the East Bay from LA, my 2012 Mazda 3 started to have issues. The check engine and traction control warning lights came on, as well as the automatic transaxle light while I was driving which caused me to panic, since being a student I don't have a whole lot of time to deal with major car issues since I use my car to get to school. After checking all my fluid levels, disconnecting the battery to see if the warning lights would go away (they didn't), and going to a local mechanic who ran a code reader, my worst fears seemed to be confirmed when he told me I had to get my transmission checked due to a shift malfunction. I called a couple of dealers and most were not available to work on my car until a few days after. I finally decided to go to Dublin because it's right next to the BART station and they sounded a little nicer on the phone than another dealer I called, and they allowed me to drop off my car on a Tuesday so that they could look at it first thing on Wednesday. When I got to the dealer, I was helped by Jeff, and after explaining my car situation told me that since I was still under warranty my services would most likely be covered. He also gave me an estimate of when they would call me to tell me what was wrong with my car, and offered to give me a ride to and from the BART via the shuttle service. The day after I left my car, he called me and told me it was actually the steering angle sensor that was malfunctioning and that ordering and replacing it would be completely covered, telling me the day and time it would be done. On Friday when I picked up my car, Jeff was able to personally tell me what they did to my car and what was wrong with it. To top it all off, when I finally got my car back I was pleasantly surprised to see that they had cleaned both the exterior and interior (other dealers I've been to either didn't do any cleaning or did exterior only). In the end, I received excellent customer service even though I didn't pay anything out of pocket, and everything was done in a timely manner. I hate it when dealers give you time estimates and end up taking a lot longer than they say they will. My car has been running smoothly since I got it back and I couldn't be happier. I don't even know where to begin. I was never taken seriously by this dealership. Everything went fine through the test drive. I must have come off as either someone who didn't have the funds to buy a vehicle, or just a tourist, because once we sat down to look at the pricing, I was asked over and over again if I intended to buy a car that day. I let them know I was serious, but the salesman - Roger Thurman - continued to try to get me to leave and follow up "when I was ready". I liked the vehicle, so I stayed. I got a low ball offer on my trade, then got the 1-2 punch from the dealer and sales manager when I made an offer on their car. The salesman said no, and simply walked away, then the sales manager - Reyes Garcia - caught me at the door and tried to "close the deal". He made up a retail value for the car which seemed inflated, and when I pointed out KBB's valuation of the car, he got offended, rather nasty, and told me to leave. All in all, I should really thank Dublin Mazda for their horrible and aggressive approach to car buying, because I later found a brand new vehicle for $500 less than the used program car I was looking at, and in a better color. So thanks, guys, your terrible service led me to a better deal and the car I really wanted. read more

I had a very pleasant car buying exprience with Katz, Reyes and the big Mike recently. They are polite and effecient and no nonsense. My price negotiation with them takes a few minutes and we were into contracting stage. Their ad says "you want a price, we will give one". Well I gave them a reasonable price and they took it. That's how car buying should all be like. They are also down to earth to deal with, didn't try to sell me all different things that I don't need. I will definately come back to buy my next car when the time comes. read more

I don't often write kind reviews, and generally hate having to face a car purchase for fear of dealing with car dealers of whom I don't have a high opinion. Then there's Keith Morita in the Sales group at this dealership who recently restored some of my hope that there might be a few decent people in this business. Keith knew something about cars, having had some parts and service background, as well as an avocational interest in aftermarket adds. But he stood out because of his service ethic and candor. Over several visits he patiently helped us to understand and experience vehicles to find the right fit for our needs, run down information, and took extra time to insure that we really understood the features of our purchase. His intervention during sales negotiation likely saved us from walking out the door when his manager started trying to play hardball over price. I'd never bought a Mazda, but I'd seek out Keith again to make a purchase knowing that I'd receive genuine help. My 5 star rating is on his behalf alone. The rest of the sales/finance crew we dealt with at Dublin Mazda were typical car dealers - overly resistant to reasonable price negotiation, trying to sell extra & unwanted add-ons and wasting loads of our time. I recently bought another vehicle from a Volkswagen dealer (not Dublin VW). It took only two hours to close a cash deal, and half of that was waiting for the finance guy who was doing double duty at the dealership next door. Appropriately quick and no hassle. The Dublin Mazda purchase, also a cash deal, took 7 hours over two days, most of which was wasted by the drawn-out negotiation and financial closure, and I was required to provide far more personal information than was required for the VW purchase. It took an hour just to hand the finance guy a check and get a receipt, though while I was waiting for him he had time to walk past me for coffee. Bad impression. Bad business. So if you shop for a car here, go straight to Keith Morita. Use him as your shield against the slime and his knowledge base to make a thoroughly informed decision. Even if you don't buy a car here you'll better appreciate the experience. Car dealers need more quality people like him. read more

We brought our CX 5 in to handle a recall and also to check a problem we were having with turning the ignition off after putting the car into park. Although the technician could not duplicate the problem, we were told they would "fix" the problem for $600. When we declined the service, we were charged $185 for the diagnostics! We were also told that the brake fluid was low. We immediately took the car to the mechanic shop that we have been using for 20 years. The experienced mechanic there took the time to show us how the brake fluid reservoir was designed, got our car on the rack to check it out, and assured us that everything was fine. We have been happy with the car and recommended it to several people (including our daughter, who bought a CX5 at the dealership) but would not buy a car or use this dealership for service again. read more
