Pretty painless, very friendly, quick, almost error-free!…read more I needed two new rear tires. I do typically avoid Walmart, but I needed the service immediately. I called and was told they should be able to get me in same day, as it's first-come service. When I arrived there were no cars in the bay and none in the lot. Lucky me! It took 35 minutes and my tires were replaced. I did have the car put back up because a sensor was broken and they didn't ask about it when it would've been a quick fix. It took another 10-15 and I was in my car and on my way. In the scheme of things, not a big deal. A mechanic told me that the other techs/mechanics there were all knowledgeable and certified, as well as really good guys. There's a sense of community in the Eugene auto care center, and it helped the place feel welcoming and effective. If you get new tires here, be sure to go back after 50 miles to have a third lug nut tightening!

We bought 4 new tires for my husband's truck last saturday. We normally buy tires at Les Schwab,…read morebut were trying to save money knowing we were not keeping the truck. Well we quickly learned you get what you pay for. As soon as we drove away, we could hear a noise that was not there before. We took it back 2 days later to have them figure it out and fix it. Not only did they flick my husband shit for bringing it back, they confirmed that they didn't properly balance the tires when they installed them. When my husband asked how long it would take for them to look it over, the staff joked around saying it would take a month or 1 week. He just wanted to know if he had to leave the truck there and come back later or wait. After they balanced the tires we drove away, the truck was shaking like it had never shook before. It looks like we are going to have to take it somewhere else to get the tires balanced correctly. We are very disappointed and will not go back!

Got a jump and let the car run for 20 minutes while beloved Bride got dressed for the cold. Drove to Competition Auto Parts (fictitious name) and their price for a replacement was $200+. Decided against this price. Drove to Advance. Their agent told me he would NOT sell me a battery until they tested the on I had. Fine. Their battery was about $30 less, so even if I had a brick, I'd be okay. Testing proved my battery after 45 minutes of being recharged by running engine was now ALIVE! "Ha ha ha! Give my battery LIFE"! (Thanks to Mel Brooks and Gene Wilder). So, they fine folds at Advance did not charge me, sent me on my way and gets my eternal gratitude. If you decide to go there, tell them Perfesser Howard sent you. They'll have no idea who I am, but free advertising never hurts.

After he completed my brake job he showed me exactly what was wrong with my brake pads. I learned a lot through this experience and he was very knowledgeable. The best part was his fair pricing. It was time for my Honda's 100,000 mile timing belt change. This sounds like one of those things that Honda people just know. Timing belts, come to find out, aren't cheap! Being on a budget, I did my homework. Prices ranged from $700 to $1,200. Good gawd, I'm not wanting to buy a new kidney. My roomie, a retired VW mechanic, told me about James and Garage 808. He uses him exclusively for his Honda. I was wowed by the price that I was quoted. I called and set up my appointment and was very happy with the service. James is very nice and even showed me the Honda parts that he was going to use. Again, being the chick in the scenario, I have no idea what the parts were but I appreciated him trying to educate me. It has been about a month now and I've had no problems. In the mean time, I have referred two other Honda owners to James and I'm sure that I will continue to do so. Nice job, James. You're a good man and a great mechanic!
