We were driving through Waco and I found this restaurant on Yelp so we decided to try it. It is off the beaten path from the highway and I would not have stopped at it if I had not seen reviews, but it was clean inside and the food was good. My husband likes gyros and was not disappointed and I got the chicken wrap. The portion size was big and the wrap was yummy. They even gave us some humus and pita chips while we waited and the were crispy & flavorful. Great place for lunch it you have time because this is not a fast food joint. My biggest complaint about this after one visit is that the service isn't all that great. I had the gyro plate (pretty salty) and my gf had the chicken kabob plate (pretty good). The hummus was decent but the Baba Ghanouj was only so so. Now on to the service. The lady at the counter took our order and 5 min AFTER I paid, she said, we're out of rice. Seriously??? A Mediterranean place out of rice? That's like an Asian place out of rice or a Mexican restaurant out of tortillas. Since they were out of rice, they decided to sub it with some lettuce under the proteins. Again..totally uncool. No offer of another side dish (the rice side dish is $2) or any kind of offer at all. Just .. sorry. After that, it took them 1/2 hour to get food out to us. This is gyro (already cooked on a spit) and chicken (5-7 min on the grill). If the lady had told us the wait was going to be 1/2 hour or that there was no rice, I wouldn't have ordered the plate special. It's not like she didn't know that there were a ton of folks waiting for their food. If I had known all this at the beginning, I would have just left. My one concession is that the chicken was pretty good but everything else was just fine..nothing worth writing home about. Me and my family went to eat based off a referral from a co-worker. We walked in and was immediately greated by the owner himself. We aren't real familiar with Greek food, so he gave us a run down. My 8 year old wasn't sure what to get, so he brought out a plate of gyro meat to sample. We were sold! Don't let the off highway location keep you away from this hidden little gem!! While it isn't as easy to get to from 35 say as the McDonald's it is most definitely worth it. All the basics were on the menu. My Greek Salad was fresh but the olives seemed to be lacking punch and were prepitted. My hummus tasted fine, although the pita bread seemed a little cold, like it had been pulled from a 'fridge. My gyros sandwich needed lots and lots of onion and maybe a little bit of lemon juice. The meat itself seemed a tad dry, but acceptable and would not have been noticeable with some onion. I love this place so much. I get the same dish every time I go and it could not be better. The Gyro plate wrap is amazing. I get the gyro with hummus and pita chips as the side (these must be laced with crack because I can't stay away from them!) and then a side salad with their homemade Greek dressing. Some people say this place is expensive, but for the quality it is right on the mark. Everything is seasoned and cooked to perfection, and nothing is greasy (unlike other places in town).
