I ordered the gyro with fries. The food was great even though it took a while as fries were made fresh. They were hot. The gyro was flavorful. The sauce and veggies were good too. The pita was a bit drier than I prefer but overall it was good. I'd definitely come back. If you're looking for a place with a lot of ambiance, this isn't it. If you want some good gyro then this is a great starting point. I'd like to try a few other items the next time I come thru. read more

Received via Door Dash. Unfortunately the flavor just wasn't right. Meat was also dry and salty. Tzatziki was way too thick and its flavor was also off (no cucumber in it which is an essential ingredient in Tzatziki.) I tried, it was a fail, won't be back. A little place punching big flavor. We were in town and wanted some Greek food. How can this town literally only have two places?! Lucky for us, we picked the Gyro Shop because this place was easily top 5 greek places we've ever been to and that's saying a lot because back home, we have 10 we regularly enjoy. Off the rip, the gyro meat is outstanding. Cooked properly, fresh, flavorful and down right delish. The cucumber sauce has the right mix of tang to counterbalance the richness of the meat. The pita bread is soft and if it's not homemade, I'd be surprised because it's better than any I've ever had. A coworker suggested this place for lunch and I'm so glad he did! I had never stopped in the Gyro Stop before in all the years I've been in Killeen. Well the owner said he's been there 28 years! Wow have I been missing out. Upon arrival I was REALLY questioning my coworker's choice and maybe even my safety a little. Downtown Killeen next door to a sketchy thrift store. Yikes. We walked in and were greeted immediately by a very friendly gentleman. We quickly read over the menu and all chose a gyro or in my case the chicken gyro with fries. WARNING!! If you use a credit card there is a $2 UP CHARGE. I know especially on small business owners the credit card companies can charge quite a bit but my goodness. Next time I'll make sure I have cash on me! I didn't realize it came with a tea or lemonade so I didn't grab a cup but later during the meal the owner brought me a glass of ice water. I thought that was very kind, I hadn't asked for one. When we received our food I was very pleasantly surprised and impressed with the freshness of everything and the fantastic flavors! The chicken was so flavorful by itself but with the tangy cool tzatziki and soft warm pita YUM! French fries were good and crisp. It is a one man operating place this Sunday afternoon and although there is not much to the restaurant, the owner has been doing business there for 16 years! As another reviewer has said, the owner is a quiet man but once you strike up a conversation he warms up to you. We were impressed to see all the foreign currency displayed in a few photo frames on the wall and find out that he is from Lebanon. His customers come in and give him currency from different countries to add to his collection all the time. This place is the real deal people. The wonderful flavor and quality of the food definitely gives this place a great reputation. The food was really amazing!! I had the gyro platter and it was extremely filling portion-wise and I was very happy with how great it tasted. My husband ordered the Philly cheese steak and he absolutely loved it. It blew his mind how tasty and flavorful it was. Although he ate all his with the perfectly cooked fries, he still had half my platter. We definitely left the place satisfied. Wife and I was looking for some good gyros and lunch and we dedicated to stumble on this small hole in the wall joint that delivered. They have two daily specials, gyro plate for $8.99 and gyro wrap combo for $7.99. Gyro plate came with a good amount of delectable meat with pita, lettuce, slices of tomato and tzatzaki. Gyro wrap had lettuce, tomato and onion with tzatzaki sauce inside, also included fresh baked fries. Wifes gyro plate had so much meat she could barley finish it, I was more happy to help her. My gyro wrap was just enough I almost didn't help her lol. They give a good amount of meat to wrap ratio. Doesn't have a lot of frills to the wrap but that's the way I like it. Not a lot variety of drinks, you get a Styrofoam cup with ice and choose from lemonade, sweet tea or fruit punch, which is not always stocked....interior is true to its name hole in the wall. Great Mediterranean food from a hole the wall. In my experience the best food usually come the small businesses not the chain joints. Great Gyros and wonderful fresh tziziki sauce. Hands down the best gyro in killeen fuego literally the service plus the food can't be touched

The food here is probably the best Greek food I've ever had. Nothing is ever over done or stale. Everything always tastes freshly made and well seasoned. The portions are just right, almost bordering on too much and the price is very reasonable. The owner (who always seems to be working there) seems a bit shy and quiet at first, but after a few times of talking to him he's always very warm and willing to chat. The only downsides to Gyro Stop are 1) it's all the way downtown and 2) it's not exactly in the nicest area of town. You might be a little apprehensive about going in when you pull into the parking spot. The decor inside is definitely original. The chairs have seen many butts and they show it. But don't let any of this keep you away! If you don't want to eat inside, at least call ahead and pick up some delicious food to go! If I was a millionaire, I'd pick this guy up and plunk him down in some awesome new little restaurant and eat gyro's till I popped. read more
