The patio seating is really lovely. I lucked out with a sweet young family with an intelligent dog…read more I was with my dog. BINGO was their name O-66 Child & pet friendly place, & they offer a cocktails menu with happy hour specials every day which vary.
Anyways, the carrot fennel soup was spectacular with perfectly crisp sourdough tasting lemony croutons & fresh dill at $9.
Spicy shrimp roll wasn't worth $17. There's no side & the shrimp were diced & sparse. Plentiful was the jalapeño which the menu says is pickled, but it tasted incredibly fresh & delicious, not too spicy. The paprika aioli tasted like bland mayonnaise. It was all bland, thankful for the jalapenos, at least there was that. The presentation was cute, yet deceiving. A thick slice of bread had a pocket cut in & stuffed, so the bottom had zero sandwich filling, just bland bread that seemed to be grilled with oil, no butter taste, no olive oil taste. My soup was long gone, so nothing to dip it in, just wasted bland dry bread. They save money with less shrimp & less filling, just pretty.
The tropical electric dog was big. Unfortunately the bun was burned black lengthwise on part of it & therefore bitter. I had to peel part of the "fancy" bun off. The tiny pineapple pieces were really nice.
Got a glass bottle of Mexican Coke.
Counter service place. You must go inside to order near the door. Then you get a number for your table for the runner to know where to drop off the item. It's not server service. You decide the tip before you eat when you pay upfront. Grab yourself a cup of water, or one for your dog if you're lucky to have one with you.
I waited a while... so I went inside & asked about the chocolate mousse dessert. The cashier said it was on its way out soon & asked if I'd like a lid. I thanked her, yes.
Sat back at my patio table. All my items happened to be served in travel friendly paper containers so I placed half sandwiches in my purse. On other tables I saw they do have plates for some dishes.
The dark chocolate mousse arrived in a small paper container, with no lid, but the original cashier girl ran out later & caught me in the parking lot & handed me the lid for the long drive back home.
The presentation wasn't good, looked like thick dark brown spackle paste smeared in with thick white whipped cream plopped on top. I needed a putty knife... I mean, it's dark brown, shouldn't be smeared up on the sides. Would be funny for Halloween. The taste was great, but not worth $11. It wasn't overly sweet, it was dark thick chocolate & balanced with quality whipped cream.
I wish it had a liqueur taste, maybe something like Grand Marnier, Kahlua, but I'd settle for homemade vanilla extract, but it was basic dark chocolate mousse. Piping it in ,instead of spackling & smearing it in the cup would improve the presentation, the enjoyment of a delicious treat.
There might be much better things on the menu. I do recommend the carrot fennel soup for $9.
