I had a great experience at Drybar today with my stylist, Victoria! The studio is bright, warm, clean and welcoming. I had a very short wait time and the whole process took about 30 minutes. I was offered something to drink and was able to enjoy a warm cup of coffee during my session. My stylist washed, blow dried, and styled my hair beautifully. I chose the cosmo-tie style and loved it! My hair feels super soft like I just got a fresh cut. I love the smell of all their products, too. I love a good refresh without the scary commitment of chopping off your hair! You are welcomed when you walk through the door and once getting started, head to get your hair washed. Complete with a nice scalp massage! They manage to twist your hair into a cute little bun that stays in place as you walk back to the chair. There are a variety of hairstyles to choose from and some add one to help complete the look. All the stylists are super friendly and are great at what they do. I won a Mother's Day Giveaway from Yelp! and it included a mom and me blowout from Dry Bar. I had never been, but was excited to try and treat my mom. We went on a busy Saturday and it took about 90 minutes for both of us to be seen and styled. They ran a little behind so keep that in mind when booking and planning. If you've never been, they have a look book for you to pick your inspiration from. I chose the old fashioned which is loose waves. They have straight styles and more voluminous ones plus add ons for treatment. They also do updos. Isaac was my stylist and he was very meticulous. He made sure my face colics were smoothed out and gave me a nice voluptuous blow out with loose waves. Definitely recommend him. Although I won't be a regular due to cost and distance, I would definitely go back for a pamper me day or before a nice evening out. Wasn't sure what to think about this place, but I was always curious. I'm so glad to have had the opportunity! The receptionist was awesomely, friendly and helpful as well as my stylus Roxy. We felt like old friends by the end of the service. The shampoo bowl was my favorite part where I could relax and get that deep scalp massage. The styling options to choose from are named after cocktails which is pretty fun And their products are amazing! My hair, being curly, usually full of knots, but their products work like magic! They offer a membership where you can go twice a month, which is pretty cool if you have an active social life. Great location in the third ward. I feel the experience here really depends on the stylist you're paired with. I've had some great visits at this location, but my last couple of appointments have been disappointing. During my most recent visit, the stylist seemed very unapproachable and in a bad mood. The service felt rushed and harsh--both during the wash and styling--and my hair was handled roughly, which caused a lot of shedding. The final style looked very basic, similar to what I could have achieved at home. Overall, I left feeling like it wasn't worth the cost or the stress on my hair. read more

Disappointed in the lack of communication during a recent visit. I used a discount code online that has been regularly advertised to me on social media. The discount went through upon booking, but the owner removed the discount from my booking without notifying me. The removal wasn't even acknowledgement when I went to pay, I had to ask the question. Turns out I had previously used the code and it was one time use...which is totally fine, but the could have easily been communicated via email or text before my appointment to avoid any questions or disappointment upon payment. I am a regular drybar customer and Drybar regularly texts when you're a couple minutes late or to ask you to come in early, a text message could have easily been sent to explain the discount removal. Instead of creating an awkward situation for customers, which could have been easily avoided. So general PSA for anyone using the online discount codes, they're one time use and the code will be removed. Nevertheless, the front desk attendant was great, as was my stylist, Charles, was great as well. It really is dependent on the stylist, but my last few experiences have been pretty good. The quality of my blowout was great, but I would remove a half star if I were able for lack of communication and putting their customer in a awkward position. read more

Making a same day appointment was easy to do online but you do have to create an account and leave a card on file to do so. As soon as I walked in, about 10 minutes early to my appointment, I was immediately greeted so politely by Addie and Georgia. Soon thereafter, Erin called me back and she noticed I was fanning myself and swapped out my water with ice water (so nice because I was HOT). I booked an appointment for a dry style not knowing what I wanted to do. Erin immediately suggested beach waves and 20 minutes later, it came out so nice! This is my second DryBar experience and can say confidently that it lived up to the high standard set by my first in Lexington, KY. Lizzie gave a great shampoo and nice conversation until the dryer came out. Can't really talk through that sound! She gave me exactly what I hoped -clean, beautiful, smooth and bouncy hair. Everyone seems to work well together -there's a cooperative and kind vibe in this space. There was a mix up with my appointment time and Carson (the manager) was apologetic and fixed things for me. I enjoy my experiences at Drybar. I've been to this one 3 times this year. Each time was with a different stylist. I always get a scalp massage -- it's 10 minutes, and what other salon does a 10 minute scalp massage? I haven't found one even in super high end places. (It's seriously the massage that I come for). I also a few other add-ons -- their products smell good, and don't trigger migraines for me. A huge plus (I'm very sensitive to scents). It's easy to schedule on the website. Once, the website was inaccurate, and I was in the area, so I walked into the storefront, and was able to schedule since they had a lot of times available on the day before Thanksgiving. Y'all! Dry bar MKE makes you feel like an absolute diva! I went there today on a whim and they knocked it outta the park. Its essentially a blow dry and styling bar but it is so much more. They take tou through all the steps after you choose a type and make sure they explain all the products they put in your hair. They take your hair very seriously and make sure to use very good quality, carefully vetted products. The hairstylist was very good at explaining the process and always checked in with me about the temperature of the water/dryer. I've been going natural with no chemicals on my hair for a few years and as an African American woman it's definitely hard to find someone that can do my hair well. Although my stylist was newer to the salon she had some good techniques and did a good job. I would say I was over all pleased but you can always tell the difference when a stylist has more experience. Where I would have liked to see more customer service would have been to explain more of their services, the process and what products she was using. It was my first time at any dry bar so it was a little awkward but it's a fairly simple process so I just went with the flow. I may have to read through more reviews to find a stylist that would be best suited for me here. I think it's a great price and has some good monthly subscription-like options. If I have a big event Drybar is always my destination for getting my hair done. They have a limited selection of styles but all are definitely cute. They also serve a rose wine so you can have a sip while you get your hair done. This is definitely a pamper destination where the stylists are always very friendly. A Yelp Elite event turned me on to this place and I've been coming back ever since. The only downside is that it's 50 bucks for a style; however, typically you can get a few days out of it so it's worth it to have incredible hair for a few days. There are package deals if you plan on going on a consistent basis. Life is a journey. Part of that journey for me is continuing to learn. Today, I learned that my baby fine hair cannot hold a style at all when it is humid. Here in Wisconsin you can't predict the weather. And when I went to leave the house for my appointment at Drybar today, I knew that it might be a little dicey. It was humid as heck. I got there a little early and saw some other customers with thick long locks getting blowouts. They all looked amazing. And the entire place smells so good from the products they use here. The receptionist was super nice and greeted us immediately. My stylist took me exactly on time, which was great. And she guided me through selecting one of their styles. I have short fine hair and I should have stuck to a straight style but I liked the idea the stylist presented to try something a little more beachy and casual. So I went for it. First stop was the shampoo station and it was a height adjustable bowl, which was perfect, since I am tall. I was able to relax for a bit during my shampoo which was great. Then next was the drying portion. The stylist applied product to protect my hair and give volume and then dried in sections. I have scalp like iron, but very tender headed people hopefully won't attempt this process. They do have to tug a little while they blow out your hair. I didn't mind at all. Lastly she curled my hair and then loosened the curl a little. Then she finished with styling spray. It looked ok, but wasn't what I was used to. But I am not the "target audience" for a blowout - I think the styles looked amazing on the longer-haired clients that were in the other chairs. She even helped me take a couple pics with my daughter (who came with but didn't get styled) for this review. Unfortunately it was raining when we left. I should have accepted the umbrella they offered. Instead I covered my head with a sweatshirt and ran for it. That was a bad idea. When I got in the car, I was already looking pretty "tousled." By 3 hours later there was almost no evidence of curl left. I can still smell the fabulous smell of their signature products in my hair and I loved the experience of it all. Maybe next time I will bring my own heavy duty hairspray. It's stiff and doesn't smell great but it holds a little longer. If I had thicker and longer hair I would be at DryBar weekly. I have to be honest I have a Drybar problem....and I do not want it fixed! You mean I get to have a blow out and a mimosa? Who doesn't want that? Seriously DryBar is the perfect place to relax or go with your girlfriends! It's light and airy and located in the center of the The Third Ward. Light wood and a cheery industrial vibe keep with the theme of the neighborhood. But the best thing about walking in is the smell! Once you've been in Drybar you will recognize it when someone has been there because they smell like heaven. Onto how it works. First you check in, and they offer you a drink water, tea, coffee, wine, champagne or mimosa. Then you look at the "menu" to pick your style. I do a variation of two we call it Lori's Southern Mai Tai which means the higher the hair the closer to god with curls y'all I request Debra who created the look and she's phenomenal updo's, old Hollywood, you name it she can do it! After picking your look, you go to the shampoo bowl where you have the most relaxing shampoo, condition and head massage...bliss! If you become a member and become a "barfly" you get 2 blowouts a month and discount pricing on other blowouts. You do not have to have a membership but if you have an addiction it comes in handy! Also your membership works anywhere in the country.....trust me I know! They have a super easy app and you can cancel or reschedule up to two hours before your appointment which comes in handy when you have a crazy life. I booked an online appointment because I was in town for my son's college graduation. I have had my hair styled at Dry Bars in California and have always left happy. i wish I remembered my so called stylist name, but she wasn't a stylist! She was in a horrible mood from the get go. She was unhappy and mad about something, I have no idea what happened to her. She had absolutely no people skills, she didn't try and fake it. no eye contact and mumbled. was very morose the entire duration of appointment. I don't know her name, she was young, has shoulder length dark blonde hair, wore glasses and on the plus side. This is my 2nd visit to DryBar and I'm a fan. My first trip I was indecisive and had the hairstylist do a combo if styles. This visit, I knew I wanted the Manhattan- sleek and smooth. I love the whole aesthetic of the place with the yellow, black and white color scheme. RomComs play on the TV and your served your choice of beverage. I went with champagne. Debra did a great job from washing my hair to blowing drying and final touches explaining everything she was doing. It looked great! I've been to DryBar twice since they opened and I'll definitely be going back again. As someone who can't do their own hair to save their life I appreciate the staff at DryBar so much! Its definitely an experience as well - from the snacks available right when you check in, to the unlimited drinks option, and the movies on the TVs to watch while you're getting your hair done, it's a nice break from reality! The first time I went it was before a charity event I was co-hosting. I wanted to look great but not have to worry about my hair holding up all night. My hair looked perfect for more than 12 hours of running around, putting out fires, and a million pictures. It even looked great the next day! The second time I went wasn't as great but it was just for fun anyways. The stylist decided I had "great hair" and she didn't need to use a curling iron at all. My hair looked more like a style from the late 60s than what I was actually hoping for. That being said, don't be afraid to tell them what you want! Next time I'll make sure to do that. Whatever products they make and use are fantastic - my hair looks and smells great 2-3 days after my visit without showering. A lot of their stuff is available at Ulta however, so I recommended picking it up there to save a few bucks. All I can do is hope they open another location soon somewhere out in the suburbs so I can get my Drybar fix more often! read more

Within minutes of entering, I was escorted back to a chair for a consultation. I was given a look book of several options to choose from and I opted for the Cosmo. I was then led to the shampoo room. Oh, my! I think my favorite part of getting my hair done is the shampooing.....the shampoos and conditioners always smell so good, coupled with what is essentially a warm water head massage, zzzzzzz......... When we got back to the chair, a mimosa was waiting for me, and the styling began. My hair was brushed and pulled (100% good tension). Product after product was applied, but not heavily.....24 hours later and I can still run my fingers through it perfectly! After about 15 or 20 minutes, the curling iron came out and now my hair was getting twisted and twirled. More product was applied, and it ALL smelled SO good and the fragrances didn't conflict with each other! When all was said and done, my hair looked fuller, had more body, and was super bouncy! It's a rare day that I, personally, can ever get my hair to look this good, so I was VERY happy with the finished look. Really enjoy getting my hair done at Drybar. It's a chain that has nailed down the whole experience. They offer you a drink (both a drink drink or just a soda, tea, water etc) when you come in and the whole thing, from chatting with the stylists, too their music, to the calming experience of having a shampoo - condition is just great from start to finish. I've sat with a bunch of different stylists and they've all been pleasantly chatty. A regular blowout is $45 but if you sign up for a membership(think its known as a "barfly" membership) its 80 bucks a month and you get 2 a month, plus any additional blowouts you buy are 40. There's other perks, like 10% off on products and a free birthday blowout. I'm pretty sure you can use your membership while out of town, and after spending last week in Manhattan and passing the Drybar location on 42nd st everyday, I can attest they aren't hard to find. Their products can be a little on the pricey side as salon products can be but they're pretty good. You can choose your style from a book they have with fun names a la the bar theme - cosmo, mai tai, southern comfort, etc. They also do other styles (braids, up dos, deep conditioning treatments) for separate fees. Ive gotten so many compliments in a short period of time on my hair - it doesn't last forever but I'm generally able to get 3-4 days out of it - and even after I wash it out I feel like its in alot better shape. I was truly impressed with their customer service. Even though I made a mistake and possibly inconvenienced them, they did not make me feel that way whatsoever, and they helped make my birthday a bit better. This was my first time getting a blowout at Drybar and I was a bit hesitant given that my hair does not hold body, shape or curls very well. My hair held its curl and style for the next 2 days without needing to touch up on hairspray. My hair usually falls flat within the day, so I was pleasantly surprised. Awesome work! I was really excited to try Dry Bar for the first time. Overall my stylist did a wonderful job. I ordered a dry style. My stylist said there were a few pieces still damp so she was going to take a quick blow dry to my hair. When I went to pay, because a blow dryer touched my hair I was up-charged for a blowout. I was not told by my stylist that 2 minutes of blow drying would result in an additional $30 charge. I would have had her just style my mostly dry hair if I knew that was the case. What started as a wonderful experience was tainted by the up-charge. I understand this is a business, however, not having the transparency with the customer and deciding to up-charge is disappointing. I will not be coming back. read more

I was pretty disappointed with my service today. I selected a blow out and scalp massage for my service. My stylist washed my hair and conditioned, and rubbed my scalp for approximately 30 seconds before she finished and directed me to my chair. I thought, surely that wasn't the scalp massage I paid for (I believe $10?) and figured she'd do it at the chair....but she did not. I usually get a scalp massage from my regular stylist when I get my hair colored and cut, and she spends a few minutes doing it....and it's pure bliss. I was willing to pay $10 and figured I'd get a few minutes of a massage...but no such luck. My hair looks fine. It's pretty pricey, imo and had my hairstylist been available I would have gone to her and had her do my hair for less. I definitely wouldn't recommend and probably won't be back. read more

I have been eyeing Drybar since it opened last February but my lifestyle hasn't allowed me a trip in yet-but I finally made it into Drybar and I may have just created a monster in myself because I am already ready to go back. This was my first experience with a true blowout that wasn't accompanied with a hair cut/color and it just felt like such a treat. They start you with a beverage, ask if you are familiar with which type of style you are looking for otherwise over you a lookbook to peruse. Once you have decided on a style you are escorted back to the washroom which is just as cute as the rest of the salon. You get a wash and a wonderful head massage and then head back to begin your blowout. Typically I get sick of having my hair blow dried but this seemed easier, quicker, and more relaxing for some reason. She used a circular brush for a decent chunk of the drying and then switch to a curling iron and used various sprays and creams but did an excellent job explaining each product she was using. I can honestly say my hair has never had this much weightless volume...like I am just confused at how it's even possible! I am so pleased with the result and can't wait to think of another reason to stop in. The owner, Joy, happened to be there when we went and was so welcoming and warm. For those asking, cost is $45 for a regular blow out. Drybar is such an amazing concept for the working woman on the move. I truly think it's nice to just treat yourself every once in awhile, and every few months, I find a special occasion for someone else to do my hair. The set-up is great inside. Designed beautifully. They ask what you'd like to drink, champagne, mimosa, white wine, red wine, water, tea, etc. A very nice, simple touch that really ramps up the experience. They ask which style you'd like, then take you to wash your hair and get to blowing ya out and styling ya! I have been here about 4-5 times. My only gripes are two things: the stylists are always very rough when washing and brushing your hair. Everyone of them has been. I know it's on me to say something, but it's something I've noticed. Also, on my last experience, I noticed that the stylists were loudly gossiping/complaining about their previous customers in ear shot distance of me. A little unprofessional. After a coworker of mine expressed how much she loved this place, I had to give it a try! I walked in, and they had one more spot left. The whole experience was pleasant. My hairstylist, Marina, educated me on all of drybar's products. The experience was paired with rosé, a Julia Robert's movie and incredible interior design. I had an appointment for 1:30 PM, and had waited till 2 PM and there was still no sign of someone coming to help me for my appointment. This business seems to have no care for other people schedules. Initially, I was very excited to try out dry bar. I came in for prom and was very disappointed and upset with the result of my hair. I essentially paid 60 dollars to get my hair blow dried straight and hair sprayed. I left the salon and went home and redid it myself since nobody could even tell I went and got my hair done in the first place. I literally had to rewash and start over bc my hair was stiff and I was unable to comb through the hair spray. I ended up having to rush to prom and hated my hair the whole night.
