I came in with high hopes and left 3 hours later with cute nails only to fall off in under 16 hours... $120 later. they seemed very nice to start and were more than accommodating with me. I wasn't sure the service I had asked for was what I wanted, but the tech talked me through it. She rearranged her first appointment that I was going to run into. 2 hours in we weren't even close to done. The front desk asked if she would be available for her 7 pm appointment and she said she wouldn't be finished until 7:30. My appointment started at 4:45 pm. I left around 7:40 pm and was satisfied with the results but I didn't get any designs that would warrant the appointment taking 3 hours. I am writing this at 10:45 the following morning and one of the nails already popped off. Very disappointing since I am going on an 8 day vacation and now can't fix this. Seem like nice people! I was welcomed in warmly by staff; cute place; but I went for a lash lift and tint and these pictures were taken immediately after on the way home. My lashes were not lifted at all, and upon further research it was probably tech error (incorrect size shield, rod, for my lash length, etc.) I didn't have a consultation beforehand- she jumped in super quick so I loved the confidence, but on second thought that was probably a red flag. I'm super disappointed, as I was super excited for this service and it was my first time, too. I had a Groupon for it, so I'll take the loss as it wasn't full price- but I won't return and wouldn't recommend to a friend. I luckily am aware of aftercare, but never verbally received any instructions following service, nor a paper copy of written instructions. I was hoping I'd get a response to the 'how was your visit text' and gave it two weeks, but have not heard anything so now here we are. I went in for a diamond glow facial- I've done it one other time along with a massage, and it was great. I was doing a 'treat day' while my boyfriend was away, and wanted to do this facial again. I went in the room, the bed heater was not on, plus the machine was not working and she tried at least 3 times. Once it started working, it felt like she was pulling on my skin pretty hard- I remembered the last one being much more enjoyable. When she was finished, I asked about derma planning, and knew we should have had it done before the facial, but she offered to still do it. When she was at my forehead she scraped it with the razor and continued to say, she just 'nicked it,' and she dabbed it with a cotton ball. She also said multiple times about how it won't stop bleeding. Then she profusely rubbed extra formula directly on the spot she cut, and then asked if it stung. I said yes(it stung the remainder of the day) and the facial was over. At some point, I don't exactly remember the order, but she did a few extractions, and I was actually moving away from her because she was pressing so hard. I was uncomfortable pretty much the whole facial. When I left, they gave me a cotton ball to walk out with because it was still bleeding- I was surprised to see it was not just a 'nick' but a cut across my forehead. It continued to bleed for about 20 minutes after I left, and most of the lines went away afterwards besides my neck. I was then informed of a monthly subscription program that provides one massage per month for a flat fee. I was also suggested to have massages with Katherine. She is incredible and I specifically come to see her. I've also switched to having my hair cut/styled here as well because the subscription provides a discount on additional services. This is the worst salon experience I have ever had in my life. I purchased a 350 dollar qiqi seriously straightening treatment and I was told to go home and rinse the product out myself. I was told to leave with my stringy greasy hair. I am sure the treatment was done incorrectly or with the wrong product. I spend 4 hours and 350 dollars for zero results. Save your money and your time and go elsewhere. They offered to redo it and I scheduled a second try. They text me and say they can no longer do the service because they are out of product. They lied to my bank about my hair being rinsed a second time so they could keep my money. They have a no refund policy it doesn't matter if you want straight not curly and leave with coils or if you want to go from black to blonde and leave with green! NO REFUND. Even if it is the worst screw up of screw ups. This place makes money off of failed hair services and a twisted policy. Don't trust the good reviews. Those are a dime a dozen. I came in looking for help with a bad hair dye job. I was met with some judgement, but I was willing to let that go because I really needed some professional help. The girl said that she would see me that afternoon for a color removing session. I came back and she began the treatment. Once I sat there for 30 minutes, she came back and rinsed it out and told me it didn't work. We tried a different one that also didn't work, and she said she had to leave so she wouldn't be able to dry my hair. I come here every so often with a Groupon and haven't had a bad experience yet. My review is for hair color, trim and style only. The inside of this salon is super cute, with lots of dazzle and pink everywhere. I've had several stylists, and my hair always seems to be nice at the end. I've had friendly and knowledgeable stylists that I enjoy chatting with while I'm there. The only downfalls for me have been that some stylists give you a massage while shampooing (my favorite) while others skip that and go quick. And since I have curly hair, I wish there was more time styling it at the end, so it doesn't curl up quickly in the front. But overall, I really like my experience! read more

**I did not want to write a review in anticipation someone would follow up after I provided feedback after my service and its been 3 business days and I have only received an automated feedback email.** I came for a massage appointment on Friday at 4pm. I arrived prior and was checked in by 3:51 with the receptionist. At 4:09 the receptionist told me it shouldn't be much longer the massage therapist was finishing up. At 4:16 the receptionist came back and said again it shouldn't be much longer and I would still get a 90 minute service. At 4:31 the massage therapist finally came to get me. I booked a regular 90 minute Swedish massage and it was not at all what I was used to. The massage therapist used multiple hot rocks and hot towels after different points of the massage (normally I wouldn't mind but I wasn't told ahead about this or asked prior) when asked if I was getting the correct massage the therapist said yes and I said it normally doesn't come with hot rocks or hot towels. The massage therapist was also texting and asking me questions about nails and if they were really mine while I was trying to relax. After the massage, I did provide feedback to the receptionist who was not the same as before but she stated someone would follow up with about the bad service. I wanted to ask for a refund right then and there but the receptionist assured me someone would follow up with me. It has now been 3 business days and I have not been contacted at all. I would not recommend going here if you want good services and customer experience. And while I am waiting 30 minutes past my scheduled appotinemnt time one of the hairstylists was sitting in a pedicure chair listening to tic Tok at full voluming and looking through nail colors the entire time guests are in the waiting area until her timer went off to grab her client in the LITERAL room next door that has no door to block out noise. Scheduled a couples massage yesterday afternoon. Received a text 10 min prior requesting that we check in, so at this point I assumed all was well. We arrived and were placed in a waiting area for 10-15 min. Then we're told "one of the massage therapists isn't here and I can't get a hold of her or my manager. I don't know what to do." We politely said "okay, please have the manager call us when you get in touch", and we left. I never got a call from anyone. It's now 11am Monday and still haven't received a call. There is no excuse for this. I've read other reviews and they have responded to similar complaints with "our staff was sick, our staff had an emergency". If your staff is not on site prior to an appointment wouldn't you call the client to cancel the booking BEFORE they drive out to your facility?? Then let us sit there for 15 minutes without telling us what is going on. So what, if the receptionist got a hold of the therapist we would sit there for another length of time waiting for her? I proactively said that I was not acceptable to paying that amount as we did not get the service that we were scheduled for. She told me that she doesn't normally work the front desk and didn't know what to do. I asked for a manager. She said there was no manager available, but she could call her boss. She took the phone and walked away into a different room so that I could not hear what she was saying. She came back and said the best that she could do was give us $20 off a piece. I said that I was not OK with that and I wanted to talk to a manager. So your statement that she proactively did that is not true. In response to your comment that I agreed to have the service done is very shady. The therapist after she had already started our treatment said oh by the way the other therapist called in sick and I am just going to tag team you. Now our treatment had already started what were we supposed to do at that point Walk out and then your shady business would still charge us 85% that you have posted in your establishment. I did not say that I was OK with it. I said, not really, but what are we supposed to do now? She had already started. We did not receive all of the services that we were supposed to, but yet we are charged for all of them. In the owners response below, she even admits that all of the services were not performed. Yet we are being charged for for services that we did not receive. We should have been told before we even came out for the appointments of the situation. And we should have been able to cancel with out being charged 85% for a no-show. Your employee was a no-show and we are not being compensated for that appropriately. I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. If the company would have agreed to charge me for only half of the service, which is an extreme gesture on my part since we didn't even receive half the service, this complaint wouldn't have been posted. My daughter and I came in for head spa treatment on Mother's Day. The therapist was very nice however everything was very rushed and we did not get the full treatment of what was listed in the description on the website and my confirmation. We were supposed to Get Arm and hand massages, which did not happen at all. We were supposed to get a scalp massage which did not happen at all. When it came time to check out and pay for the service I was charged $240 which was full price for our treatments. They have a sign listed there that the customer is responsible for 85% of the cost of the treatment if there is a no-show. However, our therapist didn't show we were rushed through did not get the full service and was expected to pay the entire amount. I would never go back here again. I was told that someone would contact me and follow up with me When I asked for a partial discount. I truly don't even feel that I should've had to pay for one of the services as we did not get what was listed in the service that we paid for. I had a small spa gift card that I received for Christmas from a previous boss and East Town Spa was the closet location that I found where I could use it for a pedicure. I waited a decent amount of time following reopening from the covid-19 closure to book an appointment. I had a pre-appointment phone call regarding my service and the establishment's safety protocols, which included waiting in your car until you receive a call that it is good to enter the building. I arrived probably 10 minutes early for my appointment, and waited about 10 minutes following my appointment before calling in. I told them my name and that I was outside awaiting my appointment (a heads up - I was in a friendly mood, this was a treat for myself for my birthday). I was told to come in - but the manner in which I was told to come in was quite outrageous. I came inside and was told by the girl at the counter that "you know you are the last customer, right?" I apologized and told her I would be happy to reschedule as I don't live that far away, I don't want to be that person, etc etc. She told me it was fine and the girl who would take care of me would be right down. I was taken upstairs where there were 3 pedicure stations. I had scheduled and verified AND said at the start of the appointment I would like the "stress fix pedicure" which is an upgrade from a run-of-the-mill pedicure. The nail technician was perfectly nice, except I did not receive the additional treatments that are mentioned on their menu: Reduce feelings of stress on your feet with a Stress-Fix™ pedicure, aroma with lavender, lavandin and clary sage is incorporated throughout the nail treatment, including proper maintenance of your nails and cuticles, massage, exfoliation salt treatment, and treatment masque with hot towels. Combining various techniques along with foot reflexology and acupressure points to calm and rejuvenate you. I'm not sure if I did not get the full service because she felt rushed, or she didn't know, or if it was because I was using a gift card, or if she was instructed differently.... Regardless, it should not matter: if they do not want to service customers after 7pm, then they should not make appointments after 7pm; and, I had politely and happily offered to come back (as I had a feeling I'd be rushed). I still tipped her 20% on the service, because I truly felt there was a misunderstanding - the tech was pretty young (not even 21) and I felt the issue was at a higher level considering how I was spoken to on the phone and once inside. So, even though I had a gift card (shouldn't matter!) I paid $55 plus $12 tip for basically a 15 min foot soak, hot towel, and polish. My husband was shocked that I was back home within the hour from this pedicure that I was really looking forward to; honestly, I left and was more stressed than when I came in. It's a shame because with their location on the lower east side/downtown and cute decor/vibe, they could build a decent clientele for their nail treatments in addition to the hair salon (which I had been to a few times in the past, like a decade+ ago). Holy Drama on this review thread for East Town Spa! But I can only really comment on my experience. So my friend bought me a generic spa gift card and thus it brought me to ETS as an option. The other spa options didn't work for me so I booked with Aissa for a 90 minute massage. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't nervous about coming to this spa given the dramatic, terrible reviews ETS has received. Well, let's just say I ended up pleasantly surprised! Everything was very smooth and seamless. They texted me to text "here" when I got in, I did that, I was automatically checked in and when I walked in, I was greeted by Aissa. She was very kind and professional. Made sure to ask me of any injuries, concerns and/or problem areas. She seemed pretty knowledgeable in anatomy, which is a huge plus. And most importantly, she LISTENED to me when I told her what areas to focus on. And she listened to my body, which is what you're really looking for in a masseuse. She gave me tips to help with my shoulder and neck pain and offered me water after. Parking was on the street but easy and no hassle because my appointment was on a Saturday morning. I was able to park right in front of the building. I'd imagine on any week night it's way busier and harder to find parking. My ONLY qualm and the reason for deduction of a star is due to a few people having a conversation, which I could hear. I'll say this, the conversation was not long winded/did not carry on for longer than a few minutes, which I was grateful for because I could hear them talking even though there was music playing. Anyway, doesn't make for the most relaxing experience having to hear people talk, but I think because the building is probably old, sound probably carries. ETS has a lot of charm! I didn't mind it being in an old building. Massages take place in a dark basement. Definitely murder vibes but you'll be alright! Everything seemed to be clean, I didn't feel like it was dirty or grimy. Everyone that I interacted with was friendly and professional. I have NEVER been so disappointed in a spa service before. The description on the website for what I booked, a "scalp treatment" was absolutely NOTHING like I had received. It was more of a 'treatment' with oils and some steam, not a massage in any capacity. To make it even worse, I left with my hair looking greasy. She said she washed it twice, but I don't see how that's possible given the fact that my hair looked greasy and unwashed. I had to come home and wash it myself afterwards. The website description is inaccurate and deceptive, a classic bait and switch. I never would've booked and paid over one hundred dollars for what I received. I went concurrently with a friend who received the same subpar treatment and was equally disappointed. We are both single moms who stretch our dollar and this was supposed to be a relaxing, rejuvenating experience to finally do something nice for ourselves. I've been here a few times now for eyelash extensions. The first appt, I arrived on time and was told that the person who was supposed to do my extensions didn't show up for work. They asked me to come back later (about an hour later) when someone else was available. Slightly annoying but I cam back and I am so glad I did because Megan did my lashes and she did an amazing job. At the first appointment, the stylist Junella and I discussed what I wanted which was one color dye and she okayed and said she understood instead, she did a highlight at the end of the appointment she saw I was not happy she said when I wash my hair my color would lighten up and also charged me an extra $60, I had bought a Groupon already for $99 plus $60, I've paid a total of $189 with gratuity which I should not have given for a terrible hair dye - THIS IS NOT WHAT I WANTED. Today 7/16/23 your receptionist tells me Junella does not have the authority to refund me the $60 she said she would refund; I have never experienced such terrible service and hair dye. The eyelash extensions looked ridiculous and my eyes were burning for a couple of hours with all the adhesive that got in them. To top off the experience, they would not accept the prepaid Groupon because they require it to be booked over the phone; when I called, there was an automated message stating to use the online booking because no one was answering phones right now. They ran me in a circle and then argued with me in the salon instead of providing basic customer service and accepting the prepaid service. So in mid March my sister in law and I went to get our nails done for her sisters destination wedding. Several things went wrong. I'm just going to go over the big stuff. Right off the bat we had to go in a week beforehand to go in for a consultation?? All he asked is "do you have any questions?" And that's it! My SIL drove from Pewaukee so that really pissed us off. I live in NS so it's not that big of a deal for me. But still, why? Second,My SIL's manicurist doesn't do nails so hers was free? Uh we made the appointment weeks in advance. Next, they put us in separate rooms!!!!! What!! This was supposed to be a sisters day. We were the only ones getting nails done so it's not like they were crowded. Next, the room I was in had washers and dryers going so it was oddly noisy for a spa. While my "manicure" was being done he kept giving me paper cut type cuts with the nail file because they don't use the drills. I kept pulling my finger away and he'd just do it to the next one. These cuts were on most if not all of my fingers. And they stung doing anything for DAYS. I could have easily gotten a nasty infection from these in addition to the god awful swelling. (Pictures attached) My SIL'S nails turned out pretty okay compared to mine. They were soooooo thick, lumpy and crooked. Please note this literally took 3 hours!! One of my nails fell off the next day and they all were easily popped off. I have had my nails done SEVERAL times before this appointment at other salons and never had a problem. Sure, we could have called and gone back. But we were leaving the day after this appointment. We'll never go back to this place and wouldn't recommend to anyone. It's a shame because it has a great location and great potential but the service was the worst I've ever had. Sounds like they need a new ops manager. ( My husband is a director for an international hair -strictly hair- company/salon.) No, they're not competitors. This is just completely unexceptionable. I ended up putting stick on nails day of the wedding and my SIL kept gluing on the ones that kept falling off her fingers. Staff was friendly but rushy. Wasn't sure if she introduced herself. My appointment was 6:30pm. They called me at 5:03pm and stated that they had open spot between 5 o'clock and 5:30pm. I told them that I would be there in about 30 minutes or so. I was kinda happy that my appointment was open earlier. I got there like 5:45pm and I walked out at 6:00pm. If they are going to hurt and such, should have told the customer so that they are aware. Next minutes, I realized she said it's DONE! Like WHAT? I wasn't sure if I heard it right so I didn't get up. Then she said again "it's done." I was still like what? I expect this to last at least an hour session or so. I bought microdermabrasion with facial. I read online and it said that procedure usually takes about an hour. I messaged BOWTIE (it's a bot auto reply) and asked how long does a microdermabrasion session take? A bot replied, "A Microdermabrasion treatment with facial is 30 min long." I'm so surprised that I walked in there at 5:45pm and got out at 6:00pm. This is including all the processing of walking in, walking downstairs, taking off jacket, taking off shoes, getting on treatment bed, during session (could be like 10 min or less), getting off treatment bed, putting shoes back on, putting jacket back on, walking upstairs, Paying process, walking out at 6 o'clock. I but coupon for few years, but never had to paid any extra fees at check out but here East Town Spa. Be aware that they are some fees extra besides what you already paid for. If you wanted to promote a business with special offer with Groupon, but provide shitty services, business will go down hill pretty soon. Thank you but no next time. Not worth it. Next time, please do not call 25 minutes to offer different time. I said I would be there around 30 minutes. I didn't said I would be there at 5:30. If you could have explained that service would have cut off if customer is being late, I would have kept my original appointment at 6:30. Next time please also explain the time to your value customers if you needed to make the processing shorter. There was no explanation on time and there was no explanation on steps. Needed to ask. Gave my Wife a gift card for her birthday. Thought she'd take a friend, but she drug me along. I don't do massage because I don't think anyone can give me a rough enough massage, but I was very happy, and I'm sorry I forgot her name, but the Masseuse was very good. This place is brilliant! Everyone is following recommended safety standards, although i would crank the air a bit working with heat and also requiring face masks in the summer time. I had a 50$ spa finder gift card I received for my birthday and thankfully East Town Spa is the only close by place that had accepted the gift card so I went ahead and booked myself an appointment to receive the express pedicure that was 35$. When going in, it was not a good experience. I feel nothing had been done and I was getting a pedicure done by myself or a friend, nothing professional nor worth 35$. Cuticles were not fixed up so at the end of the polish being applied, you could obviously tell that the cuticles needed to be at least a little worked with because it didn't make the polish application look smooth or clean. When I say barely anything was done, I mean it. No cut down, no work around any of my feet. Strictly just polish and maybe a little file down. A little foot massage would have been nice after being soaked but not even that. After a while of being there, my big left toe had been taken off and reapplied of polish THREE times which made me confused because what ever was being done was not getting better and I think the nail tech could see that but chose not to do anything differently. I left unhappy since everything looked very messy and unprofessional. I called back the day later to either get a refund or anything and they offered to redo my nails and told me everything I expected to get done is part of the 'essential pedicure' that being the scrub and callus remover and I was told I had to pay an extra 15 for that. So I booked the appointment and received the same nail tech. This was ridiculous. The scrub again, was not professional and could have been done by myself. A simple application to my heels and a little bit of scrubbing was all I got, I feel she spent about 3 minutes total doing both my feet. My feet still feel dry which after getting a scrub done, should not feel like it does. She applied the polish without even bluffing or cutting the cuticles again which as a result looks the same as it had before just a different color and then she said let it dry and you could go. When she left, I asked a nail tech walking by if they had any toe separators since my pinky toe and 4th outer toe clash together thus without the separator, word mess up the polish and they said they were out which again is unprofessional since those are essential when doing pedicures. I normally don't post on this stuff but I am very disappointed. I've worked at Bisou nail salon for years before getting a job at the hospital and for a regular pedicure that cost just as much as their pedicure where you practically get nothing but the polish, does so much more which includes scrub, massage and a well done job. At east town spa, I had never received such an awful job and am not happy to have wasted my birthday gift card on these services. I will not be coming back. read more

My sister lives in Chicago recently got a lash lift and her eyelashes look amazing. She said that she got a Groupon so it's half the price. Since I had a lot of weddings coming up, I also thought that maybe I should get this done as well. I looked on the Groupon and found that East town spa was offering a lash lift and tint. It was great since they seemed to be the only spa nearby offering this. I arrived to the spa a little early, and they took me upstairs right away. It was nice there was no wait. The spa was really cute and nice. The technician that was going to do my eyelashes seemed really welcoming and told me she would go through the process with me and the recliners were super comfy. The technician didn't really go over the process too much but it was ok since I got a little nap in. However, I feel my eyelashes do not appear lifted at all. Additionally, there was so much glue still left on my eyelids and lashes. There was also tint left on my cheek (see picture). When I asked Chloe if she could remove the glue because I was going to dinner right after, she said that I could just remove it myself with a Qtip and some spit. She gave me a Qtip to do this and I had no choice but to remove it myself even though the lash lift kit comes with a protein remover. When I went to pay, the cashier said my eyelashes looked great, like I was wearing mascara but this wasn't true. My lashes actually do look great with mascara, this was no where near close. My left eye lashes are weirdly bent with a kink and go straight out instead of a nice curl. I was really hoping this would be a good experience but unfortunately was such a waste. Lash lifts do actually look amazing, but you need someone to do it correctly. Take a look at the before and after photos, my lashes looked better before or at the very least no different. Edit: I'm changing to 1 star because on Day 2 my lashes are worse. I have attached a photo of how they are weirdly bent and stick straight out. read more

I've received multiple Tulsara facials and got my first ever back facial treatment here recently. Melanie is my go to. She does a great a job. Before she puts anything on your skin, she tells you exactly what it is and what it's made up of, which I really appreciate. She truly cares about your experience, and is very sweet. The place is small and there is a salon upstairs from where the facial and massage rooms are, so occasionally you hear people walking around. Overall though, it's peaceful. read more

When I arrived at their Brady Street location, I was very surprised to see the small amount of colors to choose from. I was doing a winter white and found a perfect white gel for my hands, and then needed to find a regular polish for my toes. I found a white polish I usually get, Funny Bunny by OPI, but it looked very yellow. The nail tech (Kirstin, I believe), assured me that after 3 coats it would look fine. I said okay and she began my pedicure. As she polished, I thought it looked a bit bone colored, but she said to let her do 3 coats. When she finished, I looked at my toes and was disappointed in what an ugly color they were. This is supposed to be a white and they were a yellow/beige color. I said it looks a bit off, and she agreed and said, "yeah, it looks really weird!" I'm not sure why she let it get this far but she removed the polish and said she would do my manicure and come back to my toes. When she began my manicure, the color was perfect, even though I noticed that the rim of the bottle was extremely gummy, indicating a very old bottle. I was nervous about how much time we wasted so I just let her continue. The manicure itself was done very clumsily and I was very discouraged by the lack of confidence in the nail tech. She kept shaking the bottle and said "uh-oh! Not very much left!" We only had 4 nails done, I was beginning to panic. I tried to just stay calm and let her finish; I needed my nails done for my event that evening and at this point was going to give up on the pedicure since I had been at the salon for over an hour and only had 4 nails painted. The service I received is unacceptable. There are tips of my nails that don't even have any polish on them, every nail is streaky, and my thumb nail has fiber from the cotton ball under the polish, stuck to my nail. I wanted to cry. I cannot believe I paid $65 for such an abhorrent manicure, which I for some reason felt the need to tip on the cost of a service I didn't even receive. I'll post photos so none of you go through this terror that I did. And I already knowwwww "owner" Stacy/Sarah is going to say they offered a redo to which I was late from an appt (called on the way mind you) and therefore got half the service and when the girl who did the redo said I can come back the next day, Beast Town Manager Sarah said the offer was off the table. Don't bother replying dear, we've spent enough time on the phone and no one needs to see your fake apology- or as evident in your other replies to reviews, utter disdain and defensiveness.
