I can't believe it took me so long to visit Carenza. I have heard amazing things about this salon but never made an appointment until recently. I came in for a hair cut and full highlights with Kellie early on a Saturday morning. The atmosphere was quite and relaxed, just what I needed so early in the morning. I was offered a beverage, and had some delicious coffee with pumpkin spice creamer; it definitely woke me up! Kellie was very thorough and left no hair untouched. The chairs they have here for the rinse/shampoo&condition treatment are FANTASTIC! Not only are they very comfortable, they have a massage feature as well. I could have laid in that chair for an hour or more. Seriously, it was amazing. My hair was cut exactly how I wanted and it continues to wash/dry/and fix perfectly. My highlights are amazing and make me very happy :) I can't recommend Carenza and Kellie's services enough. Wife went to this place to get her nails done and have a "spa" day, apparantly the owner could use some manner lessons and they have crap for product her nails were chipping 3 days afterwards, now I normally wouldn't say anything but one of my coworkers asked her because she wanted to get her nails done as well. Thankfully I asked another coworker and they recommended Neroli and now I sleep better not hearing the complaints about such a bad experience. I've never found a place worth continually making appointments. Let's face it, Cost Cutters is just NOT going to "cut it." They have awesome massaging chairs when you get your hair washed and scalp massaged. The haircut was good too. First time I made a followup appointment too when it was all done. Horrible service. The salon called and canceled my haircut 1 hour prior to my appointment. I was told someone would call me back to reschedule later in the week. Nobody called back, so I ended up having to call back myself only to find out that she wasn't willing to get me in that week at all. I have been going to Carenza for years and took for granted how awesome it is until I was put to the test with a hair crisis...I lost my hair after chemo. My stylist, Ingrid, is amazing! She gave me a short cut in advance of my treatment so I could see what I looked like with short hair. Then after treatments, as my hair started growing back, she helped with a super-short-pixie and has been there every step of the way since as we are growing it out. The entire staff was respectful and helpful to me during that rough time. They were accommodating to my schedule and my "urgent" requests to get in. Even prior to that experience, I've had super results; my haircut is far more than a cut; it is a style! I've made several recommendations to others and they are just as pleased as I. Some time ago I scheduled a brow wax. Checked in and after 40 minutes nobody came to get me. Turns out the person who was to do my brows forgot I was there or didn't check to see if I had checked in. I left without service and told front desk how disappointed I was as this was my first visit. Got a call later with apologies from woman who was to do my brows. She said she would 'comp' me a brow wax, so I tried again. She did a decent job but didn't 'comp' me. No, I won't go back. Looking at service menu...overpriced. read more

Had my haircut at Carenza today, my sides are uneven, and she didn't even cut my bangs. She verbalized how much she didn't like my last haircut. ( which I was happy with) Unprofessional and will not be going back. I think for over $50 for a shampoo and haircut it should be accurate. She did a horrible job with styling my hair. read more

Whatever hopes I brought to Carenza evaporated over my five hours getting cut and highlighted in this carefully designed, zen inspired, uberexpensive environment. My hair is naturally dark ash blonde, and looks best with dimensional color, but Lawrence made so many foil sections that it all blended together like a one-color process. Despite his two young assistants handing him various supplies, one-by-one, whom I richly paid for on the way out the door, I left feeling decidedly unpampered. :( read more

YES!! Found a good place to get my hair did that is actually close to home!!! Unbelievable! I saw Leigha and really liked her. We immediately established an easy rapport. She met with me first for a solid ten minutes to talk about my hair, things I liked/disliked about it, how much time I have in the a.m., etc. I have fine, thin hair and I'm usually pressured into layers by stylists (which I HATE on myself) and she actually agreed with me that they weren't ideal for my hair type. She gave me a great cut, walked me through how to style it, and I have had it for a few weeks now and really love the way it is growing out. Will definitely be visiting again! read more

Great place hidden inside a strip mall at the crazy busy intersection of Mooreland/Bluemound. When I step inside I feel so fancy, inside this modern cool place. Everyone is very friendly and helpful. Great selection of Bumble & Bumble products which I love! Only complaint is they are a bit pricey, but it's a great place. read more

I went here for the first time last week to have my hair cut and colored. I love the interior very nice and cool. My hair turned out wonderful better then I expected even. My stylist listened to what I wanted and made sure she answered all my questions before starting on my hair. In the past I've had great luck finding salons on bumbleandbumble.com and that's how I found this salon. However, this was not a great find. I started off my visit by waiting 25 min. for my stylist to show up. When my highlights were put in and my base color was put on, the base color looked SUPER dark. After a few minutes went by, my stylist was no where to be found and I asked a near by stylist if she thought the base was too dark. She said it was fine and it was normal for the dye to appear darker than it would end up being. Umm.. Ok. So to make a long story short I thought it was too dark when it was finished, I am blonde after all, but once I got home I started freaking out. It looked like I still had roots!! The base was brown. I called the salon manager and she said the girl who did my hair could redo it, but I declined because I really didn't want that girl touching my hair again. The salon manager agreed to let someone else do my hair and it ended up looking pretty good. So I was happy with how my issue was resolved, good service, but given the first attempt of how my hair was done I would be a little Leary of having random people here do my hair. read more

Best experience in getting my hair cut ever! Love the atmosphere. An extra perk is the heated neck rest and massage chair as you get your hair shampooed! A bonus is the head and neck massage during the conditioning process. This was my first visit to Carenza and I saw Deseria. She was so nice , professional and awesome! I love my hair! She really took the time to find out what I wanted... When I left, the girl at the counter got my coat and held it up to put it on for me! Karen has been my stylist for over 10 years. Over the years she has given me cutting edge styles, fun new looks with color and major style changes. Her blow-outs last for 3-4 days. Karen is a true artist. The salon is comfortable and clean. The support staff is friendly, personable and professional. Have been going there and taking my son there for roughly six years. Called to reschedule today's appointment yesterday morning. Today I get a call from the manager that she had gotten a note from my stylist requesting her to call me and have me schedule with a different stylist. Apparently I have rescheduled to many times. I gave ample notice. Told her that my schedule had changed, that was the purpose of calling and rescheduling, and that if you wait until the last minute, you can't get an appoointment with your stylist. I was very offended by this, considering how long I have been going there and also my son! When I talked to the manager, I promptly cancelled my son's appt and told the manager I was taking my business elsewhere. Very unprofessional!!!! If you go there, you better make sure that you can make the appointment. Being courteous and giving ample notice is not acceptible with the stylists!!! ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE! I went to get the "ombre" look which is dark at top and slowly fades to lighter and looks natural and like a beach look. Sean was my stylist, I brought in several pictures of what I wanted it to look like, and he continued to color my hair like they way that he thought I wanted it. After washing my hair he then curled it, I liked it when I left. (I spent 140 on this look) When I got home and straightened it I realized he had done a HORRIBLE job there were dark streaks and chunks in the light part of my hair and the color was so uneven I could've done a better job out of a box at home! I couldn't even wear my hair down without getting looked at funny. I called and complained and they had me come in to fix my hair for free. I arrived and had Jenny as my stylist she acted as if nothing was wrong with my hair and had the manager come out and they both said " since your hair was dark there will be some pieces that the color wont pull through all the way" ( i kept thinking in my head so im supposed to look like a zebra??!!?) They continued to tell me they couldn't just dye my hair back to my solid brunette color before ( because i would have to pay for it!!) they could only try and re-do the ombre look they already messed up..after 20 minutes of prying at them they agreed to dye it my original hair color. SERVICE WAS UNEXCEPTABLE, and extremely rude. NOT ONCE did anyone from the place apologize for what they had done to my hair or admit that the first stylist had messed up....needless to say I will never go back there again i ended up paying 160 for them to damage my hair be rude to me and dye it back to the color i first had. I hope nobody ever has to go through with this EVER. read more

I went to Carenza because a friend highly recommended it. My experience at this salon was horrible. First of all, the stylist seemed distracted and was often talking to her friends instead of concentrating on her work. She processed my color for such a long time that I thought she had forgotten about me at the shampooing area. When she removed the foils the end result was a really unattractive brassy color. She did a horrible job in applying the color. You could see a very marked line where she applied the foils. My hair seemed brittle at the end of this experience. At first sight I could see hues of orange on my hair even though it was still wet. The following day, I called to request them to fix it. She agreed and all the did was reapply the foils at the same angle and processed my hair once again. My hair color was still ugly. It looked so unprofessional as if someone had dyed for me with a home kit. It has taken me since June to bring my hair back to health and a lot of money. I would never recommend this place to anyone. This salon is so overrated. read more
