Fun speakeasy hidden inside Filthy Animal! Snagged a table here after dinner with some girlfriends. It's a cute spot with good vibes. Easy to make reservations with the front if you didn't do it ahead of time. We ate at Filthy Animal first then decided to grab a drink after. I tried the "viral" one and really enjoyed it - especially refreshing for Summer! I think the manager came to talk to us about the disco ball? He seemed friendly and checked on us to make sure we were having a good time. read more

This is a disco rave "speakeasy"--a discrave speakeasy, if you will. I say this because it's a hidden bar within the restaurant and it plays disco music with a disco ball hanging. I made a reservation, and I'd recommend doing the same to be safe and to ensure you get a seat. It can also be busy at the hostess table for the main restaurant (called Filthy Animal), so you may need to ask them a few times to be taken back to the bar, since it's located in the kitchen area. The vibes are very upscale, modern, and fancy--like a nightclub with a live DJ spinning while you order from their food and drink menu. The menu features fun concoctions with lots of random ingredients that usually result in a tasty drink. There's a disco ball, fog, and plush chairs. Drinks were good. The food got mixed reviews, but I'm not docking points just because one person didn't like the crab rangoons. Overall, this is a great venue to grab a quick drink while bar crawling on Mill. The atmosphere and menu make it worth a stop for sure. Also great for larger groups if you reserve a table (up to six or eight people)! Lots of drink variety. read more

We were wandering around Tempe when we stumbled upon this speakeasy. We didn't have a reservation, but we showed up right when they opened and got seated right away. It filled up fast! Our host was super helpful with picking out drinks, and the bar had great vibes and a really fun ambiance. It looks like they have a DJ on some nights, but the booth was empty when we went. 10 out of 10! First off, noting the location as this is inside Filthy Animal, which hoping to try their menu on next visit. When the hostess brings you back you get the total vibe of going somewhere special. Once in the room is this beautiful structured and decorated art deco look. Definitely feel transported somewhere far off Mill. The staff was amazing and attentive at the bar. Not afraid to chat it up while handling the bar. The apps were delicious as well. I'd say they could set up the Korean inspired chicken tenders, outside of that though everything tasted great. We will be back and definitely worth the tease to the main restaurant. read more

First of all, I love the name of this speakeasy. We were able to drop in after a fabulous meal at Filthy Animal. It's iconic, 70s theme with comfy seating, and a giant disco ball. Great music was playing, it can get a little loud with certain songs. The bartenders were so kind and I had one of the most delicious and unique black manhattans ever.Such a great spot worth a visit if you are able to. This is also an option for some bites,which I love. read more

I'm a big fan of architectural designer Peter Max's creations (who is also behind the beautiful spaces at Carry On, Wren & Wolf or Filthy Animal in the Valley), and I already knew I'd think this speakeasy would be beautiful and sophisticated. A classy 70s-inspired cocktail lounge is maybe a bit out of place on Mill Ave, but that is a good thing! The speakeasy is affixed to the restaurant Filthy Animal (which I highly recommend for a good meal beforehand!) Service was friendly. The drinks were delicious. There are small bites on the menu as well. They have a DJ. I haven't yet decided how I feel about the music and how well it fit the theme, but it was played at a reasonable level and I was able to carry a conversation. I did not know this when I visited, but I've since learned that they do validate parking, and have valet as well if you prefer. Walked in without a reservation and after a short wait we were escorted to the back. Very cool 70's vibe, but music is 60's-80's. Space is tight and you can not help but to hear others conversations. Our server was not completely familiar with the menu, which is disappointing. Drink prices were similar to other Cocktail bars. Drinks we good, but the pours were light in my opinion. Love, love, LOVE this spot. Wouldn't consider it a 'speakeasy' since someone is sitting outside waiting to seat you, but the cocktails and service were amazing. Aubrey the bartender gave me the best recommendations. She truly did not stear me wrong. The Mega Viral was delicious. Reccomended on the sweeter side and did not disappoint. We were doing a birthday bar crawl yesterday and found our way into this cute 70's inspired Speakeasy. Isabelle cared for us like she had known us forever, including answering questions and giving her opinions about the cocktails with patience and grace. I was getting a little tired, so I ordered an espresso martini and even though Isabelle had forewarned me that it is not your typical cocktail, as it is clarified, I ordered it anyway and ended up not caring for it. I was just going to drink it, but she could tell that I wasn't a fan and let the bartender, Michael, know and he immediately came over, insisting that he make something that I would enjoy. He actually left the speakeasy and went next-door to get ingredients and came back and made me the best espresso martini I've ever had. Most people can pour or serve a drink, but not just anyone can have that kind of customer service. The kind that makes your guest feel like they are the most important person in the room. Such a great speakeasy hidden inside Filthy Animal with a 70s disco vibe. Disco balls illuminate the ceiling and wooden paneling ordains the walls as djs mix up danceable beats. Once inside, the cocktail menu is exclusive to DDG and everything is curated meticulously crafted behind the bar. Oh my goodness.... Well let me start off by saying that the owner never disappoints when coming up with these restaurant concepts! We were greeted by the very friendly hostess's and brought back by the kitchen into such a 70's vibe! I love the decor, the staffs outfit and the music was perfect! It all came together like a perfect concoction. We sat at the bar area and the bartenders were so friendly and very, very attentive! The drinks were delish!! The flavors were on point! I forgot the name of the gentleman at the bar, he had glasses on and a brown coat I think he was the bar manager. He gave exemplary service and explained everything about the restaurant. I will definitely be coming back for my bachelorette dinner to try the food. read more

Tucked inside Filthy Animal is Drop Dead Gorgeous. The vibe is dark and moody in this speak easy with a DJ tucked away in this art deco inspired lounge. The menu has a decent range from oysters on the half shell to mini hotdogs. The cocktails are the star of the show and pair well with the menu offerings. Consider it as an option for getting a small group together for a drink before heading out to an event or as an option for an intimate date. Either way you will feel yourself slowing down and enjoying the conversation while the service team makes you feel like you are their only patron. Enjoy the vibe! read more

After reading other reviews, I was hesitant about this bar, but I still wanted to give it a shot since we were already dining at Filthy Animal (which was terrific, by the way!) Unfortunately, as other reviews have indicated, this place fell short and was a bit of a disappointment. They prefer that you order drinks from their special menu, and even then, you cannot make any adjustments to the drinks because we were told they are pre-batched. Outside of that, the interior was a lot smaller than I anticipated, and it was bright enough that it looked and felt a bit dirty inside. Overall, we ended up paying before we received our drinks and left before finishing them. read more

Tempe is now part of an exclusive list of cities that boast somewhere you can get a fancy-a** cheesestick, and it is undoubtedly worth it. I highly recommend starting the night with Drop Dead Gorgeous and then going to Filthy Animal for dinner afterward. Had a nice time here on a Saturday night. Had to make reservations and they will charge you $20 per person if you cancel within 24 hours which sucks because my date canceled with the flu the morning of so I had to go by myself or risk getting charged $40. All good, I get it. I decided to go check it out on my own. Went in at 8:30pm on a Saturday night, Filthy animal the restaurant that DDG is inside was packed. Really well done interior to the restaurant and the hostess team ushered me back to the speakeasy style bar. Wow, what a beautiful spot. I loved the lighting and the overall vibe of this quaint cocktail bar. It felt very 70s and the retro vibe went all the way down to the servers and bartenders attire. Good music and ambience equals a good start for me. Ordered my first cocktail and they were out of it, no big deal I'll choose something else. Had the cocktail named something "Viral". It was a delicious egg white, rum and melon based cocktail and the foam went up over the glass. Really well done and balanced. I chose another cocktail that was more spiritous and had bourbon and black walnut bitter. Also delicious and well balanced. Struck up a conversation with some people next to me and they bought me a lemon drop based cocktail which was also great. I had 90 min max on my reservation so I had to bounce just when things were getting in the groove for me but I get it. They gotta make their money too. All in all, the two drinks cost me $33 plus tip and it was totally worth it. I will be back. read more

Made a reservation at 9:45 got there a little early too we were not seated until 10:15. drinks and food came out pretty quick but after that seemed like we were forgotten about. waitress came by asking if we were done and we asked for the check. waited for 15 minutes after that we had to flag her down. walked passed us so many times after the fact we asked for the check. waitress was rude when we were leaving. the worst dining experience ever. read more

The costumer service was AWFUL NEVER GO THERE ON IMPORTANT OCCASIONS, I had my reservation done, I got there, 30 min past my reservation and still no SEATING some other people came and had no reservations ( I know this because I heard they were just coming in and specifically stated we have no reservations but can you get us in) proceeded to get them in then proceeded to IGNORE US AFTER WAITING 20 after our reservation, I had to go up to the host and remind her we were still there and she was really snotty stating "your table is getting cleaned be patient" after waiting 20 minutes for my RESERVATION. They sat us in a 6 by 6 inch table in the center of The bar Drop Dead Gorgeous, I wish I took a picture of how horrible the table was set it was like in the middle of the bar leaving us as the center of attention, I asked the host if we can scoot the table a little over so we wouldn't be the center of attention and she replied with a nasty face "no" WE CAN NOT, so I left because we really were disappointed because it was one of the restaurants I really wanted to experience i was the salt and pepper of the table in the MIDDLE, When I was walking out the cooks or whoever was in the kitchen since it's next to the speak easy, proceeded to mock me when I said "this place is horrible service." And started laughing HORRIBLE THEY MADE ME FEEL AWFUL if I could put zero for reviews I would and I will not beg you enough don't get your hopes up HORRIBLE PLACE specially costumer service id your aren't important :( so disappointed read more

We had a reservation which we arrived early too and then waited for 30 mins to be seated. The wait staff was rude and paid no attention to anyone seated in the back other tables as well as ours were not receiving any service and had to go up to the bar to ask for the check because the waitress was nowhere to be found for almost the entire hour this was a complete waste of time read more

The bar was full when we arrived and the staff was overwhelmed. The room emptied during our 90 minute stay, allowing the staff to be more relaxed and helpful. The last 30 minutes of our visit was a 5 star experience.

We had a good ole time with our bartender (male, forgot his name but I've learned he's afraid of heights and won't go on a hot air balloon ride LOL!!). He made this drink something near an old fashioned but it was topped with an entire gingerbread cookie, I had about 3. Oh, and the staff all had on Christmas pajamas as uniform. So cute & comfy! Keep in mind we have no sense of time so we were nervous about being late to our reservations for Wren & Wolf.. the hostess assured us she would come get us and escort us to the table in time. And she did. We weren't finished our last drinks but was able to carry them over to the restaurant.

A special thank you to Bailey, the Event Coordinator, who was wonderful to work with throughout the entire process. She was organized, responsive, and made everything feel easy and stress-free leading up to the event and the night of the dinner. The highlight was definitely the Rafter Room -- it was even more impressive in person than in the pictures. The space had a great atmosphere for a rehearsal dinner and made the evening feel really special for our family and guests. Alex immediately introduced himself from behind the bar as I sat down, and Meagan was the main bartender this night. They were both a wealth of knowledge when it came to cocktails. This time was checking…read moreout a speakeasy located in the heart of downtown Gilbert on a Friday evening at 9 p.m. I parked for free on the street before making my way to The White Rabbit. There are some things I really love about The White Rabbit and some that I didn't. Ambiance (3/5): When I think of a speakeasy, I think intimate. The White Rabbit is not that. It's pretty large for a speakeasy with a large bar and a good number of tables/booths. They weren't at capacity while I was there, but there were a good number of people there. Which made it pretty loud. To the point where you have to yell at your bartender when ordering your drink so they can hear you. Perhaps a much different experience on a week day. Getting in the speakeasy was both a hit and a miss. If you're subscribed to their email list, as I am, you get a different password every month. I was excited about this. Upon approaching The White Rabbit, I saw a sign naming the establishment and pointing me in the right direction. This takes away from the spirit of speakeasies which are supposed to be truly hidden without any signage identifying the restaurant. You'll see a velvet rope blocking a stairwell where you tell one of the bouncers the password. I had a reservation. If you don't know the password, as another party there didn't, they ask you to access a QR code to find out or ask others who are waiting. I appreciated the dedication to the cause. Once you get in, you walk down the stairwell, and then enter a cool hallway decked out with Prohibition-style decor. That leads you into the main room. The main room is also Prohibition-style though a bit unremarkable. The bathrooms are clean and also feature some cool paintings (and they also hide that they are actual bathrooms). With that being said, when I liked the hallway and the bathrooms better than the bar itself, that's a bit of an issue. Seats at the bar are bar stools without back support. Never fun for my old man back. I did, on the other hand, appreciate that they have free WiFi. Service (3.5/5): The service was generally pretty good, though a bit slow. They start you off with some water without asking you which is always a nice touch. It was just one of those situations where you have to put some effort into getting a bartender's attention on several occasions. Food (N/A): I had dinner prior so no food for me. I did check out the menu. They have a small selection of appetizers, flatbreads, and desserts. Drinks (3/5): When I'm at a speakeasy, I'm looking for creativity and an interesting blend of ingredients and flavors. While The White Rabbit has a good number of cocktails, many of them didn't attract me. Part of it is a matter of personal preference. There were only two drinks out of about 20 that I was interested in. Overall, I wanted a little more, but with that being said, the drinks were reasonably priced for a speakeasy. Not a bad speakeasy by any means, I have super high standards when it comes to these watering holes. Just not in my top five when it comes to speakeasies in Phoenix and surrounding areas.
