The food at this JFK counter service order-and-go place was fine. The gyro meat was good and thickly sliced and the pita for the wrap was thick and soft. The orzo salad was fine, too. The issue with this place is this: when you run a food establishment behind security in an airport, the assumption should be that people have planes to catch and don't have a lot of time. I've eaten at many airport restaurants and they will seem to understand this. Dromo did not. When the person in front of us got their order, the woman behind the counter started wiping down counters and refilling pans, and just generally did things other than ask us for our order. When she did finally get to us, we were informed that the falafel would take five minutes, and that she would go back and tell them to make some. She disappeared and didn't come back to take our order for almost 10 minutes. When she appeared, we continued our order and she got it wrong. Stopped here for a bite in between flights. The menu was simple and the food coming out of the pickup area looked good. I also appreciated that they have a self service ordering kiosk. I ordered and walked to another market to get some other items for my flight home. It took me about 10mins. When I returned, the order was still not made. I waited an additional 10 minutes for my order. The good news is that I was able to watch it be freshly made by the female staff. The staff was one older women handling everything on her own, ordering, cooking, preparing, restocking supplies, and fulfilling orders all by herself. The other female worker, a young lady, was in the back and only popped out once. When she did, the older female worker who was taking care of everything asked her for more pita bread and other supplies. The young female rolled her eyes and never came back after 20mins. The gyro was good, made well, and I was happy. They should offer pita chips and hummus as a side because $19 for a gyro only is very pricey. read more

I ordered my food before looking at the reviews. You think I'd learn by now. Lol It's airport food so I already have lowered expectations - high prices and severely lacking in flavor. That's exactly what it was. I ordered the Mediterranean Pita with falafels. The Tzatziki sauce was lacking the tzatziki. The pita bread was dry. The falafels were burnt and had never been introduced to any seasonings. I added hot sauce to it, didn't help at all! Lol Tomato and cucumber salad - yuck. Not sure how this can be messed up. It's tomatoes, cucumbers and onions. The cucumbers were hard and bland. Tomatoes were soggy. Purple onions were in huge chunks and very overpowering. Honestly, this meal was pretty nasty. My bad for not reading the Yelp reviews first. I placed an order on the self service ordering and payment kiosk. The kiosk choices are limited. You can't ask for extra sauce, for example. Everything on the overhead menu was not included on the kiosk menu so that was disappointing. There is no option available to order at the counter. The service was way too slow for an airport setting! I swear one girl just quit in the middle of her shift. I saw her take her gloves off and go storming out of the place, leaving one person working while the customers piled up waiting for their food. I received my food about 25 to 30 minutes after I placed my order. On the bright side, the server who did remain kept calm and carried on. She delivered orders with a very kind smile and thank you. The restaurant needs a loud speaker to call names. The server had a very soft voice, and other people kept shouting out the names to give her a hand. It was very loud in the area. My gyro was just ok. It was very messy. Definitely not worth the wait and the stress of wondering if I was going to make it to my flight on time or if I would have to abandon my order, because there was no way to ask for a refund! read more

Thinking about where to eat at JFK airport is a frightening thought, and taking a red eye flight that was delayed three hours meant that I didn't really care what I ate. I just needed food. And sleep. There are many different options at the various terminals, but not many of them seemed appetizing. After wandering around Terminal 4, I decided on something from the relatively new Five Borough Food Hall. Seemed like a hip place to hang out. I hadn't had Greek food in awhile, so I stood in line at Dromos and soon regretted my decision but decided to give this my benefit of the doubt. I felt like I was in a movie where a kid is facing the mean lunch lady in the elementary school cafeteria and slop is the main course. She was miserable working there and for some reason when the chef brought out a new batch of soggy pita bread, she just said SH*T. Anyways, I kept trudging forward, even though the person in front of me was denied a vegetarian meal and had to find somewhere else to eat. I had the Mediterranean Platter ($12) which had a decent amount of gyro. The gyro was incredibly salty. There was a salad, which was the primary part of the dish. The vegetables seemed old and stale. Then the hummus was a blessing to cover up the taste of both. The pita chips were half crunchy and half soggy. It was a decent amount of food, and I was just really hungry so I didn't think about it at the time, but that meal was so nasty in retrospect. Never going back to that place again! The tacos, hotdogs as well as canal street noodle did not look appetizing at all. We ordered the lamb and beef shawarma pita, the falafel, a side of pita chips with hummus and 2 beers. Aweful. First off, the plastic box for your food choices is filled about 1/2 way with shredded ICEBERG LETTUCE. Lettuce is as un-Greek as pasta. Presumably the only reason for this lettuce is for filler. What's worse, the babaganoush and Tabouleh laying on top of the lettuce is TASTELESS.
