Great but absurdly pricey shawarma sandwiches. We had two pita sandwiches and a can of seltzer which came out $56.30. The sandwiches come with a small side salad. I had the chicken shawarma sandwich with everything. It was savory and well seasoned. Portion size was quite filling two. Meat was juicy with a plenty of crispy bits too. The salad bar had eight options. The salads were mostly on the salty and acidic side which balanced out the sandwich well. They have a sink to wash your hands but no bathroom. I came here to try Israeli food for the 1st time and I have to say it's not bad. I got the baby chicken shawarma sandwich which is a big serving. This sandwich also comes with a chickpea salad which I quite love. I don't imagine anyone eating the entire sandwich in one sitting. Big Phil, the Rabbi and I are walking the "it's never been this muddy" trails, in Rabbi's "natural preserve" which isn't exactly what I'd call it and I'm thinking the NY Parks Dept ain't calling it that either. Sadly, I'll review it -- oh, and by the way, the Rabbi isn't an ordained Rabbi. And Rabbi now wants to walk way the hell out of the way and totally away from where we live for Jewish-ish food, but it's hard to deny the 72 year old gung ho guy of our walk, eat and talk session. Rudeness factor in typical fashion is thru the roof to me, a non chosen one so Rabbi stepped in as I stepped out, as he sensed an epic tounge lashing and slashing was about to be unleashed - the ones I save for just such an occasion. Inside it's dark and doesn't look particularly clean, like an old sailors bar on a decrepit forgotten wharf somewhere. So we're at zero stars at this moment and I walk to the corner to sit and wait. The dish was lamb, can't quite quote it's name, but it was a well seasoned neat wedge, on the bone with a medium to medium rare cook temp. Along with the six or seven slivers was a creamy hummus and one of the freshest most wonderful side salads I've ever had in a take out establishment. My wife ordered the chicken shawarma sandwhich and I had the turkey shawarma platter. For apps we had the falafel balls with hummus and shawarma egg rolls. WE LOVED ALL OF IT!!!! Best Israeli style shwarma and felafels in the area - I have tried many other spots too but this one comes on top everytime.

This is a hidden gem of Five Towns. I mean it's not really hidden as it's on Lawrence Turnpike! It's right next to the 7/11 and it's easy to miss! Nice people and very friendly! The food is all fresh and the portions are large and supple. It's definitely designed for a large appetite so don't let the large prices scare you as you could turn it into two meals if you wanted. And make sure you order the Laffa, and not the falafel. Nothing wrong with the falafel but if you want a true middle eastern Israeli Jewish experience, order the Laffa. It's a delicious pita bread rolled into a burrito of awesomeness. Got the baby chicken and don't worry, it's not a baby chicken. I don't know why they call it that. It's delicious chicken. Stopped in after seeing this place on Fios 1 channel the other day; had to try their falafel they made it look so good on the show !!! Two orders of the falafel we were four so we split them..... I don't know for us it didn't cut it !!!! The texture was great they were moist inside however the spices were very strong n over whelming n left an after taste in your mouth !!!! The best falafel I ever had and the best chicken shwarma I had in a while. I had then put done fresh onion inside made it allot better kicked up the taste. Good spices and pretty good portion. My wife had the chicken shwarma platter audio good portion. And the gymnast wad on point.coming back and soon. We ordered from here last night, honestly with low expectations, and I'm happy to say we were pleasantly surprised! The falafel appetizer came with 8 balls, which is a lot for an app, and they were crunchy on the outside, fluffy inside. The cigar appetizer was a little soggy, but that's to be expected with delivery in an enclosed container. The kofte kabab was delicious, and the white rice that comes with it is unexpectedly flavorful. Spicy fries were just the right amount of spice, and a very generous portion for the price. We also ordered a schnitzel laffa and schwarma eggrolls, but were too full to try them - they're our dinner tonight! We didn't get the Yemenite soup, but from past experience (at their since-closed other location) it's wonderful and something you must try. And if you order on Thursday, they also have cholent. It's the thick, rich stick-to-your-ribs Eastern European kind with meat and potatoes, but it has an additional kick of middle eastern seasoning - kabab spices, maybe cumin? And our order came with some chic pea salad and a corn salad, both of which were very good. I never go there because its location is inconvenient, but they deliver, and the order came quickly and accurately, and there's no delivery charge. Prices are quite reasonable: $19 for a generous dinner platter, $7 for the falafel app, $and $12 for the schnitzel sandwich (actually, $14, we sprung for the extra $2 to get it in laffa instead of pita). read more

Went there today to get a falafel and Yemenite soup. The service was really bad, the cashier gave us such a negative attitude which made my friend and me to feel unwelcomed. The second issue was with a soup, which cost $10 for a small cup that was super salty with a huge chunk of potato. Falafel was pretty good. Souped is totally awful. read more

This place was great when they opened and the owner was on site. Went tonight and it was terrible. Ask for well done and I got chicken shawarma that was still white with no caramelization at all. Tried this place for the first time a few days ago. Restaurant is clean, and the staff is friendly and helpful. This is the 'express' location, so the menu is more limited than the full restaurant in Hewlett. I ordered the falafel with tahini sauce and the hummus / shawarma combo. Everything was delicious. I like the 'free' salad you get with an entree. There are several types of salad available on the salad bar... the purple cabbage salad and the cucumbers are my faves. I work down the block and I was craving gyros one day unfortunately there's no gyro spots in the area so I walked into this place. It's a glatt kosher place so I was skeptical to try it out. Being they are glatt kosher they don't have gyros but what's the next best thing? Shwarma! Their Shwarma is delicious here. I got the chicken Shwarma with white rice (double portion) I didn't want the vegetable soup. And it's a huge portion I was able to save half for lunch the next day as well. Although it's pricey it is definitely worth it. I had gotten the chilli sauce to go along with it. And that sauce is amazing I mixed it in with the rice it was great. This small shawarma spot is a gem!!! We had the chicken shawarma with all the fixings: homemade hummus, white sauce, Israeli salad etc. Served with a small plate of help-your-self from the salad bar, this sandwich was HUGE so my friend and I split it!! DELICIOUS and succulently seasoned! We had it on a laffa and it was juicy, messy and hit the spot! We tried a little bit of the schug which the counter guy appropriately described as "atomic hot sauce." YIKES!!!!!The young man behind the counter was so friendly and told us how Ahuva's Grill Express and their sister restaurant on Mill Rd and Peninsula Blvd, Ahuva's Grill, make everything from scratch.
