Bite is such a cute spot to grab a bite! I am honestly very impressed by Bite. I thought it would just be the run of the mill sandwhich shop but all the food tastes very homey. Reading the other reviews it seems like everything is made in the kitchen which is amazing. I love the soups I have gotten so far (lentil soup and white chicken chili rice soup) and would highly recommend. I also got to taste the chicken schnitzel sandwhich and they do not skimp on the chicken which we appreciated. Would definitely come back to Bite if I am ever in the area. I was about to head to Hale & Hearty's in the area when my sister convinced me to try Bite for the first time, and it did not disappoint. A casual spot in Flatiron that offers a decent variety of soups, wraps and sandwiches with a fantastic playlist in the background! The country tomato soup (vegan) was quite tasty, but the star of the dish was actually the French bread that comes with it which was toasted to perfection. We also ordered the chicken schnitzel sandwich, which has greens, tomatoes, and a chicken cutlet. I shared half with my sister and it was really filling! I also noticed that the art on the walls were made by a local artist and it appeared to be for sale which is a really unique touch. Made a last minute decision to come here after our nearby choice had too long a wait and ultimately I don't totally know how it has such positive reviews. We got two sandwiches: exotic tuna and apple/turkey/Brie. The former I much preferred as I do like a good cranberry curry concoction, but it was a bit too sweet, not solid enough, and could have used more tuna. The latter I really thought I would like except they had forgotten the Brie....which we didn't realize until after a few bites. So it was very much just a dry and bland sandwich. The saving grace was the bread, which was good. The falafel was cheap but we could've skipped it. Menu is extensive, at least. Service was quick and the prices reasonable (for NYC). This store had a more upscale ambiance for a sandwich shop and probably caters to nearby office workers. Cannot believe I've never reviewed Bite as it's been a staple since (the now closed) 14th St location was new. FOOD: fresh and made to order. It is consistently delicious. I rotate a handful of things because I am a creature of habit. Get the exotic tuna sandwich, get the roast beef sandwich, get the Mediterranean salad, or get the Middle Eastern vegan. If you're more like my spouse get the shakshooka, the soups or soup and grilled cheese combo, or one of the salads. SERVICE: Can sometimes be a bit slow but just remember that they are in the back making you delicious fresh food so calm down. On top of that, they do this at a lower price than really terrible places nearby. AMBIANCE: I don't come to Bite for their decor, I come for the amazing food. I didn't know what to expect when I ordered from Bite. I found it on Grubhub and decided to try the chicken schnitzel after reading some positive reviews. The menu is mostly Mediterranean fare with some Italian sandwiches as well. They have several vegan options as well. Including vegan schnitzel (not sure what protein they use). They have both a schnitzel sandwich and schnitzel plate. I went with the plate which comes with two large pieces of chicken (seriously generous portion- I was impressed), a side salad and zaatar fries or rice. I thought it was a great value. The chicken was a great portion and wasn't too greasy, which is essential for me.. Needed a little bit of salt but otherwise tasty! I wouldn't order desserts from here though. It's been years since I've been to Bite and didn't realize how many locations they now have in the city! I was so happy to be near this one and came by on a weekday around lunchtime. I guess the secret is out that the food is incredible, because it was super packed!! I didn't realize when I walked in how many people were waiting for their takeout orders at the far end of the place. Once I ordered, I stayed in, and I waited almost a half hour for my food. But, of course, it was worth it. They have the best chai iced tea (which I got with a non-dairy milk) & also go the Shakahuka. That's just about my favorite meal ever, and of course Bite does it right. It was fabulous and I left nothing behind. It can be busy or have slow service during peak times but it's definitely worth the wait! The paninis can be a bit heavy/dry at times but they definitely don't skimp out on the ingredients. I recommend the panini options; I usually go for the roast beef or the chicken. I recently tried the Prosciutto and Mozzarella Panini and that was super good too! Add the fact this is some of the tastiest Mediterranean sandwiches I've had and I would give it 6 stars if I could. First time trying chicken schnitzel and it was exactly what I needed. Great decor and limited seating for a smaller shop but I could watch myself eat in the mirror. Lunchtime may be busy but they have a whiteboard menu so large I couldn't figure out what I wanted even after waiting 10 minutes in line. Luckily they have combo options(!) - at a reasonable price too. Great sandwich bread and fresh ingredients while the soup was hearty and filling. I've never heard of this place somehow, but may have just found one of my favorite new casual lunch spots when working from the city! It was a good portion for lunch, left me full but not uncomfortably full. It had a tiny little salad on the side which I wish was a bit bigger. Nothing I will whine about because my dish was $9... how do you beat that?? It seems like this place is authentic fast casual Mediterranean foods (my friend got chicken schnitzel, they have pitas and shepard salads) and I am here for it. Bite has an extensive menu with every and any sort of option that one could want from lunch. The menu has a huge variety of soups, salads, sandwiches, grilled cheeses plus combos to mix and match both. There's even shakshuka and spinach pie! Most items on the menu have a mediterranean influence (Israeli salads, chicken schnitzel, pita, feta grilled cheese, etc). All of the menu items sound so delicious that I had a tough time choosing! I went with a chicken schnitzel sandwich which came in a pita with Israeli salad and hummus. The flavor of the sandwich was absolutely delicious. The schnitzel was thin, crispy and perfectly golden fried. The sandwich also came with a massive portion of chicken. For $9 I think it's a really good value. Though the sandwich was tasty it wasn't executed as well as it could have been, so it was incredibly sloppy and hard to eat. There was also a very small portion of the salad. I ended up having to fork and knife it, so maybe next time I'd go with the platter. They also forgot to bring us out our order of fries which was a little annoying. That's the only reason I'm deducting a star -- otherwise I was very happy with the quality and flavor of my food. I was drooling over nearly every option of the menu, and I love how cute and cozy the space is. I'll certainly be back in for lunch. read more

I've been eating at Bite for the better part of the last 15 years, which is a crazy thing for me to say in my young life. It all started at the 14th street location in 2005 when I had my very first panini. As I took bite after bite of that perfectly toasted bread giving way to melted mozzarella and prosciutto I wondered what witchcraft produced such a delectable treat. Until then, I thought sandwiches were made with white bread and bologna. Bite became the place I hung out at after school, and over the years I worked my way through the whole menu. One of my favorite orders is the sabih sandwich, which you can ask for toasted and extra spicy. They do something magical with their eggplant because it has me thinking about that eggplant for days. I also really love the Mallawach and Mediterranean salad. The portions are huge and you can get a filling meal for under $10. For Manhattan, that is just bananas. I was so excited when this location opened up near my office, and am happy to report the quality and hospitality remain high. The owner frequently stops by and will throw in a free cookie here and there, which is a big plus because their cookies are fantastic. By day it's a casual cafe featuring beautiful art from various artists. By night the space transforms into a cozy bistro and sometimes they even have live music. This place is like a chameleon in that way-- ideal for dates, solo lunches, and after school hangouts alike. My teenage self and my full fledged adult self both approve. read more

But it was one thing that impressed me the most -- just after I ordered my food a group of white men got to the restaurant and the employees rushed to get their food ready... to all of them... they then apologized to them for the extra delay, and in compensation they even gave them free cookies... By far my favorite takeout spot. I've ordered bite via Uber eats an embarrassing amount of times (more than I'd like to admit). However this time I decided to actually sit and enjoy my meal. Usually my go to when ordering is the split pea soup, Mediterranean salad with cheese or chicken schnitzel and the panko encrusted cauliflower. It's funny how I haven't gotten sick of it. The quality and taste is so consistent every time and you can taste how fresh it is. Given that it is all made in house it's reasonably healthy and guilt free but also tastes so amazing. This time when eating at the restaurant, I ordered the breakfast plate which is essentially a feta and cheese omelette with pita, salad and a variety of dips (babaganoush, hummus and labne). Really hit the spot. I really enjoyed the variety of items in this meal. Their pita bread is always so soft and fresh I can't get enough of it. They have a few different locations across the city. I work right around the corner from Bite so it's been my to go spot for lunch when I need to buy The cafe itself is small but had seating and I found when I got there Seats became available quickly as most customers at that lunch hour were heading back to their offices. You walk up to the counter give your name and the they bring your order for you. There's also water available that you can take for yourself. I had the chicken Schitnzel platter with fries and salad. Tasted very delicious and oh so yummy. Do check this spot out in the Flatiron area of NYC you won't regret it!!!!! I will definitely be back. Oh and one more note! Holy moly this place was good. I ordered with a bunch of my coworkers the other day and first of all, the sandwiches are super cheap for what they are. Lunch in NYC for $8? Great. GOOD lunch in NYC for $8? Absolutely unheard of. I ordered the Black Forest ham panini with Provolone, sauteed balsamic onions, chopped pickle, jalapeno and smoked peppery mayo. It was one of the best sandwiches I can remember having. I was starving and was worried the sandwich alone wasn't going to be super filling so I also ordered a bag of chips that I didn't even end up touching because the sandwich completely satiated me. The aroma emanating from the basement was unpleasant to say the least. My sandwich arrived about fifteen minutes after I place my order. The Sundried Tomato did not work with the Prosciutto and Mozzarella. I think that if I return I will ask for the sandwich not to be pressed, and fresh Tomato instead.
