My review still stands. We gave it another go with another car. There is definitely inconsistency with their service people.

Bryce and Steve are very helpful. They changed the struts and the shocks and the tires on my 2011 Ford F-150 FX4. They even took me home while they worked on it and after they were done they picked me up a few days later. So far the truck has been doing very well and I highly recommend them for any of your service needs. The way they interact with customers are very professional and make you feel comfortable. Took my car in to have a rough idle looked at. They told me I had a cracked engine mount, which they said they replaced. It was slightly better for a bit, but it came back. Took the car back and they said I had a cracked engine mount. I said, didn't you just replace this? They said that it was the same one that had been replaced, so they replaced it again. Once again, it was slightly better for a bit but it came back. Took it to another shop and they said that when you replace a mount, you need to replace all of them, otherwise it'll just go bad again. They replaced all the mounts and now the problem has completely disappeared. Not only gone, but it was so smooth I thought the car wouldn't start at first. Unimpressed with the lack of knowledge and not digging deeper once the original problem reoccurred. Won't be coming back here. read more

Took my car for its annual inspection. Was told I failed due to "safety concerns" for a power steering leak. To fix this they quoted $2500 as it needed a new steering rack. I declined the work and paid the mandatory inspection fee. After checking for leaks, and finding none over about two weeks, I went to a second inspection station. Car passed with flying colors even after I showed them the failed report from Drivers Edge. They could find no leak nor any safety concerns of any type. Paid the fee and drove away. This Plano location used to be my go to for repairs. They have continued to raise their prices and this last visit tells me they will not be getting my business again. read more

When he went to pick up the car they refused to give it back without payment...... which I refused to pay hence no approval. Stopped to have screw removed from tire. Low pressure sensor came on this am. 21 psi indicated. Put air in to 35 psi and saw location of the screw. Finished running errands and pressure held. Drove here to get tire repaired. They got car back quickly. I got a list of all the things wrong with my car that had under 18,000 miles a less than 2 years old. 23 months actually. I explained that I just needed my tired fixed. After a 1 hour wait I asked why the wait. Answer was they found a second hole close to the screw hole. I know needed a new tire. When I questioned them they took me to the tire and showed me a small hole you could see light thru. They said that it was too close to the patch to fix. When I questioned why they did not patch the 2 holes that were very close together they said they did not see the second hole. I ask how they could miss the one you could see daylight thru. No answer but you need a new tire. I then asked if it was possible that the employee burred to aggressively getting the patch area pepped. No answer just looking at each other. I then asked how the tire was able to be driven all morning and not lost any pressure with that size second hole. Again no answer except we can put on your donut tire for an additional charge. I asked them to put on the spare and I would go elsewhere for a new tire. The only reason they got one star was the manager ended up no charging me. I would avoid them for any kind of repair. They seemed to be in the business of seriously upselling services that are questionable or not needed at all. read more

I just had a horrible experience at the store in Frisco. I purchased new tires there less than a year ago, bought the warranty and everything. Got a screw in the top tread and was told it couldn't be patched. They went on to tell me the tire had been discontinued and they would pro-rate a new tire for $180. So, i've been here for some time. Been happy with the original guys. Staff has changed over the years. Maybe they were having a bad day. I had a legit question at the end of my visit. Maybe I phrased it wrong, or perceptions were not correct. I wasn't going to post, until they called me back to first discuss, then get very defensive/offensive. Inspections have always been an issue. Every year it's wiper blades and something. I asked the guy this time if I can just bring in an unopened box of wiper blades for my next visit. Caught him off guard. He decided to call me up (10 minutes later) and tell me just because I have a Porsche and BMW, doesn't mean I waltz in and get inspected. Preferential treatment, then goes on about TXDot guidelines for cars to pass inspections. last year, my license plate light was out. They said it would be 20$ so i said sure, and said go ahead and replace it. They came back and couldn't replace the license plate light on my boxster spyder. So, i did it myself. Mind you, the car has coilovers, full gt3 suspension, IPD, GT3 TB, and fabspeed system on it. Installed myself. I'm not mechanic, but a knowledgeable car owner. Money isn't the issue. Another year, they said I needed new tires. Easy to replace came back and did. I comply with safety, but there is a better way to go about things. Thing is, every year. I get the same pitch. Wiper blades, over and over. I just want to bring my own next time. Just like how I only use mobile-1 EU formula for my oil changes, which I have done since i was 15. I brought my Lexus here for repair in late June because it broke down on the way to work (the engine light was on and there was an error message on the screen), and Driver's Edge happened to be the closest repair shop to me so I had my car towed there. In my experience, this repair shop is extremely overpriced for the poor quality of work it delivers. It turns out that the radiator in my car was busted, and they initially quoted $1800 for a replacement which was way beyond what was reasonable, and it was eventually negotiated down to $1100-$1200 which is still above what the average shop in Dallas would charge. They acknowledged that they couldn't tell why my car broke down in the middle of the road and just so happened to find the busted radiator by luck. They also told me they addressed the error message that my car was displaying. The repair took about a day, and I picked my car up and it was fine for the next bit. Come two weeks later, the engine light in my car turns on again and the exact same error from before re-emerges on the screen. I then took my car to a different mechanic, who found that the head gasket had blown which was causing my engine to overheat. This was a huge oversight on Driver's Edge's part, who told me that my car just needed a minor fix; how they missed something that huge was beyond me. My car had to be taken in for repair for a second time due to Driver's Edge's lack of attention to detail. If you want a repair shop to swindle you and not even perform thorough work, then sure, Driver's Edge might be for you. However, if you want your repair shop to actually fix your car, I would advise you to look elsewhere. read more

I took my car to this location for a safety inspection. Well, when all was said and done, the technician came out and said that I passed the inspection, however, THEY CHANGED THE AIR AND CABIN FILTERS WITHOUT ASKING! They then advised me that I needed a wheel alignment. My car is a 2018, just turning 12,000 miles. No, I don't need an alignment as I took my car to my personal mechanic and within 5 minutes, he advised that Driver's Edge was full of it. I will never take my car there again. They are scam artists. Think twice before going there. My safety inspection ended up costing me over $200.00. I would give them 0 stars, if I could. read more

I originally began having Drivers Edge service my Jeep because they were in a good location, and I felt like it was a professional brand I could trust. I even understood that it was pricier than other auto repair shops because of these factors. Little did I know, this place lies about the services you need and grotesquely rips off customers. Last year, my brakes were squeaking so I brought it to drivers edge. They did the free brake inspection and suggested I needed my back brakes completely replaced, an $800 job with a coupon. Mournfully, I swiped my card and did the replacement. About two months later, my brakes were squeaking again, and they looked rusted. I brought my car in again and they said everything was fine. After finally having enough, I brought my car in again a few months later, and they did a brake inspection and said I needed to replace my front brake pads and rotors because the front brake pads were worn down to 4 mm. A $400 quote. I was livid because I had brought my car in when I heard the squeaking, and they told me everything was fine and I know I'm not someone who rides my brakes. I searched for other quotes on yelp and every single one of them came in at least $100 cheaper. When I chose a different mechanic, they looked at my brake pads and came in with the most questioning face saying my brake pads still had 30% left. I told them I go ahead and complete the job ($239), and when they were finished they let me know the back brakes I had replaced just six months prior were already worn down to 50 percent! I told him I just had those replaced last summer, and the man told me he expected me to say years ago. Long story short, this location charges ridiculous prices for subpar parts that you may not even need. I'm extremely disappointed in myself for not getting a second opinion the first time, but hopefully this review helps someone else not put their faith in these crooks. read more

Costumer beware. Obvious upselling for unnecessary repairs. I came in for a vehicle inspection and watched the staff pressure a woman into an extra $600 worth of maintenance for things that a car with just 40,000 miles would not typically need. Then they did the same to me by failing my inspection and making repair recommendation. Since I am knowledgeable about cars, I asked questions and 90% of the repairs were not needed and had nothing to do with a state inspection. To pass inspection I simply need to add some brake fluid to the car. Of which they wanted me to pay for a full brake system flush. Don't be surprised when you come in for basic car maintenance and are told you need to spend and extra $1000 read more

So sad, I have given this location the benefit of doubt three times and three times I have been disappointed. Each time I have gone in for a oil change, during their curtesy checks of filters, they have lost a screw to the air filter and I have had to go back for replacements. The fist tome the air filter came loose and car started choking. This last time, after requesting that they not do any curtesy checks, I still found a screw missing from the air filter cover. When , went back they said they would look in their bucket of screws for the screw. They found it and replaced it, but I wonder why they have a bucket of spare screws. BEWARE!!!! read more

I have used the Plano Driver's Edge for many years and many cars, with excellent service and reasonable costs. This week I had a coolant leak in a 9 year old Mercedes 550S. The cooling system was compromised by age, high heat and wear on plastic o-ring parts, and required multiple parts to repair. The original estimate was reasonable, but did not include several of the parts replaced because those parts had not actually failed at the time of the estimate. However, Driver's Edge chose to honor the original estimate, and replaced all the compromised parts in the engine cooling system with success. No extra charge at without me asking for this. Amazing customer service again. Barry, the store manager is extremely knowledgeable, experienced and runs a tight ship. 5 Stars is not enough. read more

Came in to get inspection. They told me it would take 30 minutes. It actually took 1 hour and 15 minutes. I believe it did cause they put a massive crack in my window and were trying to figure out what to say. Eventually they returned it to me "as is" anyways cause the crack ran towards the top of the window behind the rearview mirror and were hoping I wouldn't notice. It is hard to see if picture isn't at the right angle. I could see a glaring line 15 minutes after i left that wasn't there before. I called to tell them that this happened while my vehicle was there and asked them to look at footage while it was there, He said there wasn't any, but feel free to bring my car in so they could look at it and tell me what may of happened. He said they don't touch windshield's during inspection. Well they broke mine somehow. Convenient he can't be liable, but "could look" and tell me what could of caused the crack. These dudes cracked it and lied. Do yourself a favor. Save 20% and go to any other business in town. Very bad owner (or guy that thinks he is the owner) that you don't want to deal with at this location. read more

After 3-1/2 months, Driver's Edge, Mansfield, notified me my F-250 was ready from the second warranty repair in 5 months, but now, they are declining to pay for the rental as the work costs more than expected. I'm not even sure the extra work was even required. I certainly was not asked if I wanted the swap work for the rental. This is just another example of the lies they tell you to get you out. Can't wait to get my truck, but hate the idea of having to find a lawyer. read more

We were driving near here and heard scraping happening below the vehicle. I happened to pull over in their parking lot and we noticed a loose panel hanging underneath. We walked inside and asked if they could take a look and fix whatever was loose. It turned out to be a loose splash panel. The guys at Driver's Edge took it back and secured it into place it within 20 minutes and handed me the keys, free of charge. I offered to pay something for their time and they refused and said not to worry about it because they do stuff like this all the time. We had never been a customer there and they still did it for us. Thank you so much, we really appreciate your help and support! I have no idea how they have the rating they do on here, because the service I received was horrid. After charging $1100 to replace a hose for the AC they said I was good to go. After 5 minutes it stopped blowing cold again. They then quoted me another $2900 to replace the air compressor. The worst part is they showed ZERO empathy and no assistance for charging the first $1100 that accomplished nothing at all (not to mention they originally said $800 but supposedly the ac hose price went from $100 to $400???). Luckily I was able to get it done down the street for half the price. I was happy to pay another diagnostic and evacuation/recharge there just to get it away from Driver's Edge in Plano. If you're in West Plano, go to Caliber Auto Care - not only cheaper but you can tell they actually care about their customer. read more

Great experience. Honest, much cheaper than the dealer and trustworthy. They are busy so call ahead or take your car in early. I heard about driver's edge from friend's who have Lexus and other luxury cas as well and had had a really good experiences here. Just got new tires and my car was pulling to the right slightly. Took my car in for a front end alignment. They couldn't get the right front tire into perfect alignment (ok I've hit a curb or two and Dallas roads have pot holes every which often can't be avoided) per the computer diagnostic. The car needed an extra part for the right strut to remedy this or the new tire on the front right would wear unevenly. When I picked the car up I was shown the computer evaluation before and after the part was installed. The car drives perfectly and they have good pricing and are honest. It was my choice to have the new part installed NO PRESSURE. read more

We have lived in the neighborhood and have taken 6-8 cars there for at least 10 years. I went there because I thought they did great work and were HONEST. We gave them thousands of $$ in business. The people there have changed over the years and the last year or two I have started to question their let's say "accuracy" on recommended repairs. I took my sons car in for a state inspection. I was told all it needed was new wiper blades. They called a little later and said "a customer noticed fuel leaking out in the parking lot". I was then told that it needed a repair analysis on the the gas tank which would cost $1750. Not a repair but an analysis. I said no. They failed the inspection. I went to pick up the car and there was nothing leaking. Two days later in our driveway and nothing leaking. I spent over $200 and got new wiper blades and a failed inspection. I took it to another local repair shop and got it inspected in 20 minutes. Buyer beware on the Drivers Edge on Park at the Tollway. After all these years we aren't going there anymore. The folks there before were great. Not so sure now. They have lost our business. read more

Most shops give you that feeling of getting scammed due to the many practices of shops, but I came in here and was taken care of well. I took my car in after the axial was bent without knowing the extend of the damage. I worked with a technician there named Trey. I cannot urge how helpful he was during the whole process of searching for a way to repair my car. He looked for new, used, parts as well as looking into a totaled car to find a part to fix my car. He worked with State Farm for my insurance claim and was genuine and patient throughout the whole experience. I highly recommend Drivers Edge and Trey specifically.
