Came to try some matcha around 1:30, which was 30 minutes until closing. Was really excited to try the strawberry matcha latte, however they ran out of strawberry, so I settled for the mango matcha latte. The mango matcha was good & the service was quick. The shop is in downtown so the only downside is that you'd need to pay for either street or lot parking. The shop itself is small and aesthetic. Finally got to try this place out after having it bookmarked for quite some time. It didn't disappoint. It's Chinatown so metered street parking is best. The studio is small, clean and gives off very cool, aesthetic *specialty coffee* vibes. There is bar seating and a few small tables with chairs. Drip Studio is THE best coffee shop in Honolulu! My boyfriend and I are coffee snobs and we always visit a bunch of different coffee shops when we come to Oahu to visit (1x per year). I grew up on Oahu and back then, Drip Studio did not exist, but oh, Honolulu, you are so so lucky to have this amazing coffee shop. It is run by the most skilled, passionate, and friendly couple, and they put all of their heart and soul into their craft. Every time we went, we had a hard time choosing what to order because everything they make is incredible. You can't go wrong with any of the pour overs because that is how they started and they specialize in it. However, I also tried their strawberry matcha and my boyfriend tried their cold fashioned (has cold brew, but made like an old fashioned) and they were both SOOOO good and memorable. Not only is their coffee top notch in quality, but the way they prepare it is mesmerizing. They don't like to rush it because they are trying to prepare it with the most care and with the best technique. You can also do Japanese style pour overs, which is where they do the pour over directly over ice so that the flavor gets locked in. The food and pastries here are also really incredible. Definitely go early so that you can get the pastries before they are sold out. The coffee shop on Fort St. is not very large, so depending on the time of day, you might have a hard time finding a spot to sit to have your coffee, and it may be hard to work from there in case it's busy. I would recommend having a backup plan such that you can get the coffee to-go if they are busy. I heard they are planning on changing up the space, though, so maybe it will become bigger soon? The other thing awesome about this place is that you can buy the high quality coffees as beans from them, and you can buy equipment too. They did a great job of selecting items to sell for retail. You can just tell they put a ton of thought into it, and are not just selling whatever. If you want recommendations, they are also extremely passionate about telling you about the products they sell and will absolutely take the time to answer your questions. Overall, I am obsessed with this place and it is now one of my top 3 favorite coffee shops of all time, up there with the famous Onyx Coffee in Bentonville, AR and Loki Coffee in Salt Lake City, UT. read more

Everything was made to order and it did not disappoint! The shop is small, so I expect it's pretty full during busy hours, but when you go during off peak times, it's def not as bad. Ran out for some supplies and on my way back heard this lady mention going there so thought I'd try it. Went to the previous location 2x and the workers looked at me and went on with other things with no acknowledgment. So hopeful my experience would be better. Place is bigger and love the blue. Smells...strange. Not sure what...but not a fan. It was pretty loud. The worker seemed nice enough. But this is not a place to go if you're in a rush. There is little sense of urgency. This is a good place if you're into fufu-ish drinks. Some of them looked really pretty but I'm just a boring old coffee drinker. Hot Americano. It was Hot. Tiny little thing but at least not overwatered. Fruity though. I did not like that. Probs won't go back for coffee...but some of the food sounded pretty good. Great matcha! This is a cafe located in Fort Street Mall facing an office building, and it's a cozy little spot that has a wide variety of drink offerings. Parking can be a bit challenging; you can try to hunt for street parking or there's a municipal parking lot nearby. Seating is limited inside and outside as it's a small cafe. I ordered a strawberry matcha latte and it came out quickly. The baristas/servers were attentive and nice! After seeing lots of recommendations for this place, my husband and I finally make our way to downtown. Located in fort street mall, I typically don't come here just because parking can be challenging. We parked at the Chinatown municipal building and we paid barely anything for parking. Good deal! Now arriving in the cafe, there's not many places to sit. We were able to scope out a table. One staff member greeted us and gave us a rundown of the menu plus some good recommendations. We decided to get one Hojicha latte and one matcha latte. The cafe is small but has a vibey homelike feel. I'm sure you could do work here but it's quite tight. Now for the drinks - probably one of my favorite Hojicha drinks on island. It's earthy and nutty in the best way possible. The matcha was also very smooth. My husband gulped it down so quickly that we had to get another drink to go. We tried the Hojicha strawberry to go and while it was good, we preferred the basic lattes. I thought this drink was just ok. For an almost $10 small-medium sized drink, I guess I was expecting a little more. Contrary to some of the other reviews, I found the hojicha flavor to be quite strong, but not overpowering, For the $2 add-on for the house made strawberry syrup, I was expecting a little more sweetness to the drink. For the size to price ratio, and the taste of the drink itself, I can't justify this place to be satisfying enough for me to return. Perhaps I will come back and try their coffee. I did notice that this place has a variety of food options as well. And there are ample places to sit and relax and do your work, or catch up with a buddy. My work recently moved to downtown Honolulu so naturally we've been exploring the coffee shops in the area. I've come to Drip a few times a week in the morning for a morning coffee. I wish I loved coffee more so I can't really speak to how good the selection is, but I do think this place would be a coffee lovers dream. The staff is really knowledgeable about the selection and I've heard them recommended brews to their customers while waiting for my order. As far as food goes, I've tried a few of their scones and cookies which seem to change each time I go. The mochi waffle was also very good and is one of their regular menu items. The staff are really attentive and immediately come up to you to take your order. The Vietnamese coffee that the guys in our group got were not strong enough for them, as avid coffee drinkers and fans of Vietnamese coffee. They were out of pastries and suggested that we come early in the morning if we wanted to try them but they have their menu items available regularly. We visited around 12pm. The service was great though. They were very knowledgeable and patient while we figured out what to order. Update (okay not an update because it's the same as my last review): Drip Studio continues to be fantastic. I'm there literally every single morning, 6 days a week (it would be 7 if they were open on Sundays!). I've become a pourover girlie - Jazz Fruits is my typical go-to, but if they happen to have Milky Cake or Blueberry Blues, I'm going with that! I've developed a much more discerning palate and appreciation for coffee, especially with Vince (owner) educating me on flavor profiles, coffee roasting and processing, even giving me a taste of some coffees to demonstrate the differences. Drip Studio is for the true coffee enjoyer. Highly recommend giving Drip Studio a try. Definitely pick up a baked good (my fave is the carrot cake) or sandwich while you're at it. The owner and staff are cool people and you can tell they enjoy the process of putting together each beverage. It was sort of therapeutic to watch the drinks being made.
