A hidden gem! This is such a fantastic spot, we stopped in for coffee and ended up getting some pastries too! I got one of their February latte specials- so delicious and the prices are fantastic especially for the area. Inexpensive coffee, nothing but great vibes inside, and very friendly staff. Cannot recommend this spot enough!

Inclusive environment for a great cup of coffee (or other hot beverage). More of a hot chocolate guy but the group really enjoyed their items. They have ample seating upstairs, main floor and even outside. Sounds like they have a steady stream of fun events during the week and on the weekend.

Stopped in for coffee on a Sunday morning for a cup of coffee. The coffee was good. I had a Blueberry Cream Cheese Croissant which was excellent. On the messy side. The shop is super cute. It has a great local, Ferndale feel. I arrived on the earlier side, but as noon approached it was busy, and the seating was getting limited. There are tables to work, and a sitting area. There is a lot of outdoor space in the front and back. It was bit cold to sit outside today

The order area is quite tiny. There's a shopping area that's bigger than order area. They have an area upstairs for sitting down. We ordered a Fraser tea bag green tea and an oatmeal latte (comes with only 2 for either a 12 ounce or 16 ounce) for $9.54. I asked for a print out as one slip of our order printed for the staff to make the order. I asked if I could get a physical copy for myself. The woman with the purple hair said no, they only provide a copy via email only. I literally saw a copy go to the staffer. I didn't believe her at all. The green tea is not special at all. The oat milk is average and not notable. The green tea isn't very good, take a pass. The staff taking the coffee orders and handing you your orders aren't warm or welcoming. The staff at the retail shop greeted us on our way out. They have a cozy and small upstairs area with bar stools, some tables and couch seating.

Ham and cheese croissant was really good, the blueberry cream cheese one was a little sweet for me & could use a little more cream cheese. It's decor is shabby chic/ urban garden, very cute. A little on the pricey side but I do like their chai teas.

This cafe is such an amazing community spot! My partner has visited here multiple times, but today was my first visit. There is a lot of shaded outdoor space, so it's perfect for enjoying the weather. There are also two floors with ample seating. The workers were attentive and helpful. I got the iced Ugly Bastard, which is an iced mocha with some cream. It was super refreshing, creamy, and light on the chocolate. My partner got a cappuccino, and it has a great nutty flavor, something that I don't often taste in the espressos that I get from cafes. Drifter Coffee also hosts a lot of community events like outdoor yoga classes and offers to support local artists by letting them apply to have a stall at the cafe, which is really awesome.

This is a very cute café with a safe and efficient way to order your drink during the pandemic. Just drive up to a numbered station, scan the QR code to place your order on the Drift Coffee website, and wait in your vehicle. A masked barista will come outside and put your drink on a table where you can pick it up. I ordered a 16 oz. Iced Gingerbread Latte with whipped cream. You can substitute natural milk with either Oatly Oak or Milkadamia Macadamia. My drink was really good. I like that there are specialty items offered on the menu that can't be found at other cafés. I will be back to try more of the lattes and tea.

This place has gone downhill since Covid. First of all when you pull in there is a huge mess of stuff behind the building. I'm not sure how long their steamer has been broken but it wasn't working today so the hot drinks were very limited. They used to have mugs if you were dining in but they only have paper cups now, also the upstairs was my favorite part of this place and it's now closed. There were a few cuss words scattered around in decorations and drink names which I thought was distasteful. My maple cinnamon americano was ok but nothing to write home about. The only good thing I have to say is the prices were decent.

So.......second time back to drifters.....decided to try some food with coffee's that were on the autumn specials menu. I believe there were 3 listed-you would assume they were all 3 lattes(as we found out after the fact only 2 were)....who would think one was a regular coffee that you could make at home and not cost me $4.50(16oz). We discovered that after purchase. I got the pumpkin latte which was good, But I also bought for my daughter a Fall Drift 16 oz that she discovered at first sip was Not a latte, even after being asked what milk she wanted in it(still making us think it was a latte)..She said it tasted like what comes out of her coffee pot at home. When she approached them to see if there was any way to just fix that coffee, wasn't asking for a whole new one-they said they couldn't do anything for her and offered to SELL her another one for full price. Disappointed in their customer service today because of that and I also was not told putting some tomato sauce(?) in/on my croissant was going to cost me extra 75 cents, & I didn't even taste it. On an already $5.50 ham & cheese croissant. They don't list the prices for the bakery case so had to ask for those prices individually. Not sure what would keep me going back here after todays visit especially with my bill being over $22 and no quality customer service today.

This is a great coffee shop for coffee and comfort. The people here are wonderful and the people drinking coffee here are typically delightful humans. I had a latte and read for an hour inside and out on the loading dock. All spots are cozy and bright with natural light. Upstairs is chill and quaint. The effective use of natural light is rare up north yet this space nails it. Happy this exists read more

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Drifter! First of all, if you want to be charmed on a regular basis, follow them on instagram to see the sweetest and most thoughtful humans running a delightful coffee shop! Their drinks are fantastic, the decor is adorable, and they are constantly hosting fantastic gatherings, giving away tickets to cool events, and doing everything they can to be social justice oriented and inclusive. (Also, this is a great spot to hole up for the day to work - not too noisey!). Love you, Drifter! read more

Drifter coffee is a much needed coffee destination in Ferndale! The coffee house is charming and welcoming and the coffee does not disappoint! One thing I absolutely love about this coffee house is their attention to food allergies. As a lactose intolerant person I cannot say how much I appreciate a business that makes sure I'm taken care of. The staff is ah-maz-ing. Always friendly and smiling. I LOVE this place. They are so environmentally friendly, clean and awesome employees!!! They have a lot of dairy alternatives (that they dont charge extra for) and really creative/yummy treats and drinks. Every time I've gone in the staff is so friendly and inviting. They also do an awesome job with engaging in the community. Great place to sit and do work or just to grab a quick cup of coffee. read more

Yay! Drifter Coffee is open! Stopped this morning on my way to work. The space is so unique and adorable. The staff so friendly and helpful! My latte is delicious and I will be back for sure for more banana chocolate chip muffins, yummy! Can't wait to visit on a weekend and hang out in the greenhouse or cozy space upstairs. Also, super fast service, great for quick stop before hopping on 696 to get to work. They open at 6am! So excited about this place! read more

This place is so so cute!!! Their coffee and teas are so yummy and they'll answer absolutely any questions you have. The women here are amazing and friendly. I do really enjoy the coffee here and the employees are always so nice. But it takes way too long to get a drink, easily 10-15 minutes. It was like that pre COVID as well. I'd come more often if there were quicker service and earlier hours. read more

I have really enjoyed stopping by Drifter Coffee and getting some work done this summer. The customer service is out of this world and every corner of the place is comfortable and inviting. They have cozy and productive areas with outlets and places to store your bags everywhere. Their baked goods are everything and I love their cherry iced teas and iced lattes. Parking can be hard to find at times, but there is usually always a seat available even when it's packed. This is a great addition to the local community. My only wish - please open your doors on Monday's too! read more

It's a cool space. But my order for a pour over was denied with a lame "don't have space" excuse. Cmon. Nothing more fundamental than a basic pour over or French press. Also denied on a 16 oz. - any size drip as long as its 12oz. And $3. Meh. read more

My new favorite coffee shop! I wish they kept later evening hours during the week because the coffee, the service, and the atmosphere are **perfect** (great coffee, a fantastic selection of coffee-shop pastries/snacks, wonderful staff, and lots of room to spread out or meet with friends). I will definitely be back (and do realize that I'm a weirdo for drinking coffee into the wee hours, so it's not really practical to stay open late ;-) ) read more

I have to say it drifer coffee quiet and amazing place it's very cute and feel very homey. Enjoyed my coffee it was a sugar-free half-and-half vanilla latte with four shots espresso they're doing a great job here in Ferndale and this is my first time and I will be not my last and the fact is that I go out my way to find ways coffee shops around this one sticks out forts uniqueness and what I have found is that if I go to a place that's local I was find that what's new what's hot and what's on the agenda my thing is that who makes a good cuppa coffee is that for start with the Barista's. I can see that with the ambience of the place it's quite interesting it's a neighborhood. I think what they have accomplished here it is quite amazing I've heard great things about this place keep up the good work. I thought about coming to his first numerous times but the thing is I live so far away it's hard to go tomorrow and that I want to go to But it was to far and put the effort to I just got a chance. It's Funny that sometimes your day turn sour into something good. I drove all the way out here just for a cup of coffee. I Was trying to do some business in Southfield and the person in the sea is not there so I started to get in patient and I just said I need to eat and I've figured I would just wait out my time here at drifter. I Imagine that One they'll have their own one of blind espresso not Someone who is roasting for them I think that if they use Gooseneck they have an amazing product as well The collaboration with Gooseneck and drifter I think that they will reach others in so many ways my friends are from Gooseneck and I think that they do you have a good product and I think that from what I understand is that having a coffee shop to roast for is pretty awesome. I'm Surprised How well they did this place and with drifter they thought of some unique ideas with the colors and how they utilize their building was quite impressive. I don't have anything bad to say about drifter it's all in sight in the fact is that their coffee is great and Ferndale is booming!!! I Remember Ferndale was not anything back in the 90s the reality is Detroit is coming back in other suburbs to neighborhoods are starting to see more establishments I think drifter is one of them. read more

As a result, all of the ice melted almost immediately, leaving me with a lukewarm drink and forcing me to go back for more ice. While it's a nice place to hang out, I would probably return for the atmosphere rather than the beverages.

According to my friend the presentation of Turkish coffee is special and she was disappointed with how it came. Others were served coffee in cups so I'm not sure where the disconnect was. The chocolate pistachio croissant was delicious. Served warm with chocolate drizzle and a pistachio cream center. The prices were a little high but overall I would recommend it.

I created a yelp account strictly to write this review because I, as a small business owner, think that it's important to give and receive feedback. Especially when the business is so new. A good friend of mine lives in Michigan and I visited them recently. They are a regular at Drifter Coffee and were very excited to bring me in. I went twice in the week that I was staying with my friend. First of all, let me say that this is one of the hippest coffee shops I have ever been to. The vibe, the decor and the baristas are all fantastic. I saw a few different employees during my visits and each of them were knowledgeable and fun. The coffee is delicious and so is the tea. My first visit I tried the house blend and my second I enjoyed a ginger tea. Both were great and both price and size were fair. These points together make it very clear why my friend is there regularly. Unfortunately, the reason that I am writing this review has nothing to do with these wonderful things. Aside from the baristas, I also saw a woman, whom I learned during my first visit, was the owner. I personally witnessed her use patronizing and passive aggressive language to a customer. What caught my ear when when the customer gave a suggestion about a drink to a barista. Before the barista could answer for herself, the owner interrupted and answered for her. She was very rude and over the top. I could see that the customer was caught off guard and embarrassed, as was the barista. When I discussed this with my friend, they let me know that they have seen this kind of language when she speaks to staff as well. As someone running a small business, I can't imagine this is sustainable. I hope that Drifter continues on the path it is on and that they work out these kinks along the way. I'm giving 4 stars because I really did like a lot about Drifter and I look forward to coming back when I have another visit to Michigan. read more
