We were shopp in downtown Mt Clemens for Small business Saturday and decided to stop in and get a hot chocolate at Black Cat Coffee. It's a good-sized room and nearly every seat was taken but we found a pair of upholstered chairs and a table in a corner. They've done alot of work on the space and it looks great...and I know that their main focus is on the coffee, but we were not thrilled with the hot chocolate: it wasn't hot (merely warm-fish) and it wasn't very chocolate-y, either, and we were surprised that it wasn't better. Champagne Chocolates, just a block or so away, would have been a better choice for us...but we did enjoy the atmosphere and ambiance at Black Cat and we'll be back to sample their coffee on our next visit. read more

Black Cat Coffee is everything you want in a neighborhood coffee spot. The cappuccino is legit--made the proper way--and the vibe is cool and cozy with a moody black and red aesthetic. The staff is always kind, the space is perfect for working or hanging out, and they're even cool with you bringing in a treat from Clementines next door. Been meaning to try this one. Quite a bit out of the way of anywhere else in the area, but a gothy cafe, as if it's 199X, is exactly what I need in my life. The quality here is superb. Amazing flavor, just the right amount of spice and sweetness, and plenty strong when it needs to be. I love the ice here, too. Small shards works way better than the massive chunks most places use. Hot drinks aren't very hot, though - my one gripe. Makes me sad I'll basically never be able to come out here since nowhere else I go is even remotely nearby. This is definitely a shop I'd be in once or twice a week otherwise. Service is okay. The baristas seemed new. Very mechanical. Made me great drinks, but added nothing to the experience and barely seemed like they were there. The ambiance of that experience is rather eh as well. Place is way too spacious and bright. It's not the worst cafe I've been in. In fact, it's pretty nice by Michigan standards. But, it aims high and achieves...nothing. There's a big plastic cat to the back left of the counter. There's chandeliers and a color scheme, but the vastness and straightforwardness of everything makes them just sort of...disappear. The bathrooms have black toilets and sinks. And they're also totally trashed, like another reviewer said. Like they hadn't been cleaned in a week or two, or at least not the trash can. Hours are miserably bad. For a place that has the aesthetics of the night, I'd expect it to not close before sunset, or at least be open before sunrise. Parking seems limited and is also paid. And, for as good as the drinks are, you get less than you think. Cup was indented by an absurd amount I've never seen anywhere else before. If you're ever in the area check this place out.The drinks are absolutely worth it, even if not much else is. Oh, and fun fact: a business card I picked up when I was there shows that this place is an offshoot of one called Atomic Coffee in Royal Oak. It seems to have the same general aesthetics, many of the same menu items, and even uses the exact same menu boards. Black Cat Coffee I just adore this place! The space is big and open and gorgeous. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and the drinks are sooo good! My husband went with a classic Americano last time and I went with my go-to lavender iced latte. It's my favorite! We were there for a while, so we also decided to try their Arnold Palmer and lavender lemonade. Yummmmy!! It's much more pleasant to get some work done in a beautiful space, with delicious drinks. First of all, the place is huge, and it's wonderfully quiet and looks like a great place to sit... and ponder life. I got the pumpkin puma nitro cold brew, and it was phenomenal. We stopped in after a dinner down the street and were pleased with mostly everything! The location is in the heart of Mt Clemens the building inside is really nice and cozy a mix of couches and normal dining/table and chairs, everything seemed to be clean. I didn't see no cups or crumbs on tables or trash. Staff were friendly and helpful when we arrived, greeted us right away and offered us suggestions on our drinks. I got a LG Vanilla Expresso GF got a French Toast Expresso and we grabbed a Brownie. Both our coffees were very good, very flavorful and not overly HOT where it will burn your mouth. The brownie was good, however it was cold and semi hard. It was in a glass cooler on display. I'd like to see them maybe heat up the brownie or at least not have the cooler on so cold, we also had to ask for forks to eat which didn't come with the brownie. I'm a bit late adding a review for Black Cat, but I have been stopping by several times a week lately while hubby goes to PT. I love the feel of this place. The baristas are friendly and helpful suggesting new drinks to try. There are lots of tables as well as some cozy seating around the fireplace. There is one large table in the back that would be great for small groups but you can't reserve it. Not the cheapest coffee but worth it as it's easier on my stomach than most, They offer a loyalty card with a free drink every 11th purchase. read more

They do not have 2% milk for their lattes , which is fine, a lot of coffee shops don't. But when I asked if they could do just a combination of some whole and skim to sort of make it 2 % ish , they said, no, we can't do that. I've been to multiple other coffee shops, and when they don't have 2% and you ask them if they can do a combo of whole and skim, their response is, sure, no problem! read more

This was a great spot for stepping out of the chill. The vibes are not classic coffeehouse, but very elegant and a little whimsical. Customer service is amazing! I walked in one Wednesday evening after 6:30. My usual at any coffee shop is a iced vanilla latte. It was chilly out so I inquired about maybe a hot one.. He said try it. I said I'll stick to iced. He tried to persuade me. He said if I didn't like it he would whip me up an iced one. For a few minutes we went back and forth- he almost got me. I hate wasting and I didn't want it to go to waste. He finally conceded. But how great is that? Amazing place to study at, hang out.. it's quiet and everyone is doing their own thing. I came here two days in a row. Yesterday I got one of their special nitro cold brew the hazelnut leopard which was delicious and today I got the dirty chai and I was surprised it was spicy- I did not care for it. The cashier told me after I asked that they make their chai syrup there and it has cayenne pepper in it - supposedly they overdid it this time by accident and it won't be as spicy next time? Idk. The drink went to waste. I agree that it would be cool if they had some little snacks to purchase. I love that it was busy in there today - mount clemens has been a ghost town forever. The aesthetic is nice- I love the black toilet and sink. Not to mention gender neutral bathrooms! I do not really see myself coming back for a while since I have an espresso machine and can make my own fancy drinks at home and it's much quieter at my house for studying. Hands down the best place to come to Mt Clemens in.... Forever. The atmosphere is comforting and quaint. Not real loud thankfully, so it is desirable to stay and enjoy your order. The staff is always pleasant and most helpful with suggestions. Always willing to help you find the perfect blend based on your tastes. Highly recommend their dirty chia, London fog, and Paris tea. I heard about this place from some friends and since it is close to the house we decided to give it a try. I went with the Iced Spicy Cougar. Espresso, dark chocolate, cinnamon, and cayenne. I really enjoyed the flavor. I've always been a fan of the sweet and spicy when it comes to coffee. Similar to a Mexican mocha or something like that. I do think it would have been better hot, but that's on me. I like to drink iced coffee after a certain time of day. The location is cozy and well kept.
