Huevos rancheros

There are not enough words to describe how delicious this huevos rancheros was this morning. I opted to substitute the chorizo with sausage links, so it wasn't too spicy. The cilantro sour cream is just delicious. Everything about it had a perfect flavor in every bite.

Monte Cristo & Potato Hash

After so many FB posts finally made it into Mae's. Cute little shop. Lady at the counter was pleasant at first. She seemed a little annoyed that I asked for my sandwich to be wrapped in two separate boxes... I ordered the monte cristo and a Maurice salad. I've read so much about monte cristos lately, I couldn't wait to try it. It's definitely a sweet & savory sandwich, and although it was tasty, it was on the sweet side for me, for most, it probably wouldn't be. My sister prefers the jam on the side, not in the sandwich. I did like the potatoes it came with. The salad was good, but could've used more toppings, imho. I wouldn't hesitate to return, they have a couple other things on the menu I'd try.

A friend recommended this place for breakfast. I like to frequent places in Downtown Mt. Clemens. Ordered at the counter and the food is brought out to you. The young lady at the counter was pleasant. I ordered the eggs Benedict. The eggs were poached perfectly the hollandaise was very good. I really liked the red skin potatoes. The dining area was clean. I had very good experience.

While I'm unemployed I have the freedom to check out new dining places during the non-busy hours. Mom and I drove in from Sterling Heights to check out Mae's as we love biscuits and gravy and we heard they made the best version of it here. We arrived around 10:30am on Wednesday. There is limited parking and you have to pay .25 cents for every 15 minutes. The limited parking isn't a problem for those that can walk but mom can barely handle walking a few feet. Since it was slow time we had no problem finding a spot right outside their door. For most people not having a booth or chairs that have sides for the arms there is no issue, but again, with mom it was difficult for her to land in a hard seat with no arms. I brought her pillow and assisted her as she got in her seat. Mom is 84 and has severe arthritis and Parkinson's ; she is vibrant but really needs the creature comforts when she dines out. Eating out is our 'big outing' so we enjoy trying new places to eat at. I was surprised to learn we had to order at the counter, had to order water in a bottle, got our coffee in a paper cup - but hey, it's all fun in the trying new places so no biggie. The coffee was strong, smooth and very good. Since we arrived when no one was there our food was delivered in a timely manner, was served hot and was delicious! The scrambled eggs were fluffy and very tasty. Mom really enjoyed her biscuits and gravy. The cook/chef is very good. I loved my meal but was surprised at how full I was after eating just half my meal. I requested a to-go box and was presented with one of those god-awful, 'save-the-environment' cardboard, flap the tops over each other boxes. No thanks, I left my food there as I know from past experience, my food ends up tasting like cardboard and the lid pops open risking my food falling out. Great addition to the downtown Mt. Clemens vibe. We are glad that we tried it but we will leave it to the young, healthy downtown crowd.

Cute little diner. We went during Downtown's Spooktacular. They were pretty busy but handled everything very gracefully. FYI Big portions! We will definitely be going back!

Corned Beef Hash

So excited to find a new breakfast option close to home. We opted for the corned beef hash and southern fried chicken and egg. Both meals were exceptional. Staff members were kind and food came out hot and fresh. For newbie's: you place your order at the counter and then sit down. They definitely worked on maximizing their space for seating. Will absolutely be back and can't wait to try other items.

Food-wise, it was a mixed bag but mostly good. I ordered a chicken wrap and that was the miss for me. The chicken was kind of shredded and just not great, so I wouldn't order that again. My son got the donut waffle which was fine, but the real standout for the kids was the pancakes. Three big, fluffy pancakes on the kids plate and they were legit good. The fruit sides were excellent too. Fresh berries, not sad afterthought fruit. My husband's omelet looked amazing and made me realize I probably should've stuck with more classic breakfast food instead of a lunch item. Service was friendly and patient. It was a little slow, but it was a busy Saturday morning and it looked like our waitress was covering a whole section by herself. Getting the bill took a bit, but it felt more like opening growing pains than bad service. Overall, great atmosphere, solid breakfast options, and a place I'd totally return to. Next time I'm going full breakfast menu and skipping the wrap for sure.

We walked in and it was very busy. The hostesses were smiling and polite. We asked to sit at the bar and they were happy to accommodate us. Our waitress, April, was an absolute pleasure. She gave us suggests on what to order. We settled on the breakfast burritos and a chicken bacon ranch omelette. We both really enjoyed both. Oh and a delicious homemade cinnamon roll. The portion sizes were huge and we both ended up with large amounts to take home. I also ordered a morning Spritz which was gin, raspberry smash and sparkling wine. It was ok. But I would go with a traditional mimosa next time. I joined the loyalty program as well. We really loved it here and will definitely be back!

This place is mostly always good because of the service especially Cecelia and coco they are great…read moreat serving and coco is very kind and down to earth and very good at the recommendations but the food is a bit iffy I got a very very undercooked steak and had to send it back twice then I just gave up on it and had it get taken off the bill so they gave me their new shake which was very good. The inside is sick to, the service in there is the cornerstone of the restaurant but they really need to make a step getting into the food to make it better.

This is my second time here, and clearly I didn't learn from the first -- but it also looks like…read moreownership hasn't either. Your service is terrible, your food is mediocre at best, and the entire place feels poorly run. We came in with a party of 12... and you just lost all 12 of us as customers. The waitress was completely ineffective. Orders were missed, timing was all over the place, and communication was nonexistent. Some of our group finished eating before one person even got their food -- that's unacceptable. Let's talk about the food and presentation: * Fry baskets? Just awkward and unnecessary. * Pretzel with beer cheese -- the pretzel was literally sitting in the cheese, which had a skin on it... so it was either microwaved or sitting way too long. * Beer wasn't cold -- just "kind of" cold. Big difference. * Beer selection is weak and oddly repetitive (how many reds do you need?). * If I had to guess, your beer lines haven't been cleaned in a long time. The burger tasted like a frozen patty -- nothing special at all. The "hot honey fish"? It tasted like straight-up bottled sauce -- like Asian Zing from Buffalo Wild Wings. Not good, not creative. We were told a manager would come by -- never happened. If someone did and that was your manager, you've got a bigger problem. Operationally, this place is a mess: * 3 hostesses for a restaurant this size? Why not have food runners instead? * We didn't receive a significant portion of what we ordered * The dining area is dirty * The parking lot is in rough shape At some point, you've got to be honest with yourselves. Read your reviews. This isn't working
