Before coming in, I called to make sure they had experience sewing patches on a military uniform…read more They said yes, that they did it all the time. My husband brought in his uniform, patches, and printed out the specific instructions for them to use. I go to pick his uniforms up a few days later and my husband tells me that it's been done wrong. They sewed his name patch ON the pocket flap when the instructions specified that it belongs ABOVE the pocket flap. No branch of the military has the name patch sewn on the actual flap which led me to believe that they in fact did not have experience with military uniforms. They also cut the name patch incorrectly so it's no longer usable. We had to order new ones which cost $20, and they were back ordered. Great. We ended up getting a partial refund from the business, but were not reimbursed for the name patches. I'm sure this business does well with dresses and suits, but I'd probably go somewhere else for military uniforms, especially when you brought in a physical copy of instructions on where the patches go, that they didn't even look at.

I found one online that I liked, but it was on clearance (nonreturnable) and only one size was available. It had been a long time since I bought a cocktail dress so I wasn't really sure what size I wore, but thought it would work. I was very disappointed when I tried it on because it was way too big and made me look like a dumpy old lady. I hoped I could get it altered, but the only dressmaker I knew was far too busy due to bridal season. Yelp to the rescue! I chose Mila based on her positive reviews and I'm so glad I did. I immediately felt comfortable with her and was confident she would be able to make the necessary adjustments, even though they were not exactly straightforward. The waist needed to be taken in and lifted, the tank style lace shoulder straps shortening, and I didn't want to lose the pockets, which made it more complicated. Mila said she could complete it in two weeks and the quote was very reasonable. When I returned to pick it up I put the dress on and I was completely blown away by what a great job she did! I loved the dress as it was now very flattering and accentuated my shape. I highly recommend Mila for her kindness, professionalism, and--most of all--expertise in her craft!

I've trusted Gamila at Beautiful Alterations with my clothing for nearly eight years, and I…read morehonestly can't imagine going anywhere else. She's done everything from everyday alterations to creating custom garments for me, and every single piece has been flawless. Her craftsmanship, attention to detail, and ability to bring an idea to life are truly remarkable. What really speaks to her talent is that my sister located in NY works in the luxury designer apparel industry, where part of her job is evaluating and working with some of the best seamstresses around the world. She's incredibly selective and has exceptionally high standards. After seeing Gamila's work firsthand on a vintage garment I wore to the Versace runway show in 2022 my sister immediately recognized that my garment was customized and asked me who did my garment and complimented her skill and craftsmanship. That says everything. Gamila has an incredible eye for fit, construction, and detail. Whether it's a simple alteration or a custom piece, she treats every garment with the same level of care and precision. Her work looks seamless--as if it came that way from the original designer. If you're looking for the best seamstress in the Sacramento area, look no further. Her talent is unmatched, her prices are fair, and she genuinely cares about her clients. I recommend her without hesitation.

When I came back to try on, they were much better but still not great, as shown in the image. When I went to check out, I noticed a splotch on the shoulder of the dress on the sleeve. VERY small. When I asked her about it, she said it wasn't there before (which tells me that it happened in the shop, which it did). However she did not offer to dry clean it or try to get the stain out. Reasonably priced. I would only come back if I needed a simpler alteration, but not for another bridesmaid's dress. *update* due to my interaction with Alice, who reached out to see how she could make my experience better, I am updating my review from a 3-star to a 4-star.
