Sushi in Kentucky? Makes you think for a second... Over the years I have grown to enjoy Drake's...they offer a pretty standard menu of hip bar options including sushi delivered by scantily clad ladies with beautiful white teeth and big, smiles. I always steered away from the sushi because, well its Kentucky...However, one day a colleague and I went mid-day needing an escape form the madness of our co-workers and took a hence on the sushi. SO good!! Their sushi menu is pretty stout and the choices although "dressed up" are fairly diverse. I haven't had a bad sushi experience yet. The rest of the food actually pretty good and the burgers are HUGE and they look delicious. I have had some vegetarian-focused items form the menu too. They offer a full bar and decent service. They have a patio, dining area and a bar. Tons of group seating but prepare to wait. There is ALWAYS a crowd here and corona virus limitations are not helping. Couldn't believe it when I read it... Kentucky where they serve burgers and sushi in the same restaurant. So I decided to try it out! Overall a good first experience. I went in June and they were doing temp checks at the door and making sure everyone had a mask. Inside, the booths were separated by plastic shields and the bar stools were separated to ensure social distancing. Good call and made me impressed! Had a great dinner. The pretzels were amazingly cooked and went well with the melted cheese. The sushi rolls we had were also amazing. The Dragon Roll and Philly Rolls were well stocked up with ingredients and presented very professionally. Delicious! The staff was very friendly and I was glad they were taking the pandemic seriously even if other places aren't. Definitely would return next time I'm around!! read more

Drakes is an established lunch/dinner favorite. The decor is bar food and Sushi ambience. The menu is tried and true with Tex/Mex, burgers and sushi dishes. Some refreshed and creative dishes could go a long way toward renewed interests and appeal. Service is a weak point with apparent high turnover. Beer and liquor isn't pushed but is available. Multi televisions broadcast sports and rock. It has a friendly vibe that both young and old seem to enjoy. read more

Decided to give them a second chance. I had a Smash Burger with Tater Tots and I was very pleased with the food. Not fond of the attitudes of the staff that seated us and waited on us. The initial seating was at a high top for two. They have a huge centerpiece on the table that contains the menus and such. With that centerpiece in the middle of the table I asked the hostess where was I to put my food? It takes up a third of the table space. I also would not be able to carry on a conversation with my friend because I would not be able to see him over the centerpiece. She moved us to a high top for six and I thanked her and had no response from her. Then the waitress comes, takes the order, delivers the order, then gives us the bill. No stopping by to see how things were. Didn't ask if we would like dessert or anything else. Seemed to be in a big rush to get us to vacate the table for six. This place is a winner! Saw the place packed a week ago and took a mental note. Came in tonight for dinner, and It was packed again. That's a really good sign. I was torn between the juicy Lucy and the fried bologna sandwich. The server said the fried bologna sandwich was her #2, #1 being the Sriracha chicken. I went for it and wasn't let down! It was very flavorful, not a one-note sandwich. The Mac n cheese was really good, too. It's not your typical Mac n cheese, it has some mustard in the sauce, which I like. Highly recommend this place, OH forgot to mention the sushi was flying out of the kitchen, too, so that's got to be good as well. I'll try that next time. read more

i got the quesadilla, my dad got sushi. i brought home leftovers and there was plastic from the pre cooked chicken in my food. the server also took 15 min to bring the check once we finished eating. don't know her name but she had a tattoo w writing on the back of her arm above her elbow. we didn't see her the entire time we were eating, then by the time finished eating we saw her, but she went to the two tables beside us to take their orders. couldn't even check in with us once to see how we were doing. i ended up just going up to the bar to get my box and my dad just eventually got her attention to get us the checks. read more

I love Drake's. My wife and I visit them all the time. But this is the third time we have ordered carry out, and this is the third time that the order has been screwed up. In this case, I ordered a crab rangoon roll, which is a fantastic roll when prepared right. Unfortunately it really needs the sauce to make it stand out, and that was missing from the order. And if this were an isolated issue, I probably would not care, but this is the third time in the past few months that we tried to do carry out, and the third time that the order was wrong in some way. It won't stop us from coming in to eat, but I am pretty certain this is likely the last time we try to do take-out. read more

Looking for a casual lunch spot with big portions for hungry guests? This is it! My husband and I ordered the fried pickles which was easily big enough for a table of four. For entrees, I ordered the fish tacos and my husband got one of the sushi combos. The fish tacos were "build your own" which was fine but I'd recommend splitting all the sides, sauces, etc on 2 plates. There were peppers and onion underneath the fish that I didn't even notice until I was done eating because the pile of fried fish was so large. My husband enjoyed the sushi but said it didn't taste as "fresh" as other local sushi spots. We'll definitely be back again. read more

One of the worst experiences I have had. We went there and sat at the bar and ordered our food. 40 minutes later, the food never came. The other patrons around us received their food but we did not. The idiotic bartender kept on assuring us that our food is coming. Ultimately we just had to get up and leave without being served. For the managers and the supervisors involved. Make sure that your employees don't lie about our order and our food. And have some efficiency and professionalism towards the customers. This is not the first time this has happened. This is a really cool place if you're looking to get good food and good beer. I've eaten here twice and enjoyed their burgers both times, but they're not anything to write home about. They have a wide variety of craft beer and pretty decent spirits selection as well. Evidently they have several single barrel selections of whiskey, but I cannot speak to that other than seeing it on the menu. The food is satisfying but the atmosphere is what sets this place apart. They have two bars and an outdoor patio as well. The only reason I'm dropping them a star is their food isn't outstanding and I watched a bartender make a mixed drink without actually mixing anything. I might update this if I go back a few more times. We'll see how it goes. Good place to try out if you're in Florence and looking for something different. read more

I put in a late order, around 10:20pm so I understand I may not get the best food 40 minutes before closing. Ordered the filet, medium done. Comes also with a griddle-seared chicken. Got the sweet potato fries and also a side of broccoli. Filet: Completely overcooked, way past medium and looks like it was well done. Filet was dry with not much flavor. See pictures below to see how dry the steak was. Griddle-seared chicken: Cooked all the way through but also came out dry. Not much you can do to fix that, I know chicken breast is hard to cook properly. Taste was fine but like the steak, dry. Broccoli: Mushy and I get the feeling it is sitting there all day in a steam tray. These would have been better off if they were roasted or put under a broiler. Sweet potato fries: Nothing out of the ordinary. Outside was crunchy while the inside was tender. Service was fine, took about 25 minutes from order to pickup. Restaurant appeared to be following COVID protocols. If it's earlier in the day there may be better choices. I appreciate them being open late and I'm sure the issues with my food can be easily fixed. read more

I really enjoy this place located in Florence. We went for a birthday celebration for a dear friend. We had several tables in the bar area and the staff was excellent. The menu is bar food and also fantastic sushi. They serve lots of craft beers The atmosphere is fun and filled with great energy I ordered the fried scallops roll with avocado and perfect whiskey sour. The service was really quick and our server was very timely and created an overall great experience. The environment is a chill bar vibe with a nice patio. My beef is with the food- our medium rare filet came out well done; thankfully they were really understanding and cooked a new steak. The filet was under seasoned and a poor cut of meat. We walked in and right away they took our temps. We sat near the fireplace which was nice because it was a little chilly out. We got fired pickles and pretzels with beer cheese. Pretty yummy start. I got the mini juicy lucys burger and waffle sweet potato fries and sweet tea was very good. My husband got the Big blue burger with fries. From what he said it was amazing. Our food came out pretty quick. The only downside was once our food came to our table we never saw our server again. We had to get our check from the bartender. Wasn't to sure what happened to our server. But the bartender was super nice even asked us if we wanted to take some tea to go. So that is the only reason for 4 stars. Drakes has an exciting atmosphere with great service. I love their drink options and the various sushi choices. You just feel like you are where the action is when you sit in the bar or outside area. The food was great, the service not so much. My husband and I both wanted wings but different sauce, I asked if we could do half and half wings and the waitress said yes. I got the jalapeño honey and my husband got the Buffalo. Both tasted great and the chicken wasn't stringy. I also got the Buffalo chicken cheese dip, it was decent but could've used more hot sauce or Buffalo sauce. My only complaint was the waitress kept talking to these people at this one particular table. It appeared she might have knew them and it was to the point where my husband and I were both out of drinks but she was too busy talking to notice. Food was good. Service was great. Nice place to watch a Bengals game. Unfortunately, on my visit about 5 adults came in with 2 kids. One was chill. Other kid was constantly LOUD. Sound bounces off the ceiling in the booths. OMG. They never even tried to tell the kid to be quiet. If he yelled a word, they kept saying it to get him to do it again. And he'd comply and yell it. Probably great at home, but not in a public restaurant. He was old enough to learn "inside voice". I love kids, but not yelling at top of their lungs in my ear while I'm eating. Ok I just got here and look they have soft ICE omg!! I love it here already and banana liquer drinks. We tried Drake's after seeing a movie as a family. It was nice weather so we sat outside. All of the menu's were dirty and covered in something sticky. As I looked down the patio hadn't been cleaned for awhile (trash and food was collected right below our table. Even some melty cheese was hanging from the grates in table just waiting to join his/her friends below. The food was okay. We tried the fried pickles, some burgers, and sushi. It was salty and several hours later I still felt the urge to drink water before bed. Disappointed that I spent $96 at Drake's. Not worth it. read more

We had a group of 16 at Drake's in Florence today for lunch. I arrived late but we had quite a spread of appetizers for the group to share. All entrees arrived quickly and were large portions - lots of leftovers to take home for round 2! Everything we ate was excellent but the real star of the show was our server Taylor. She went above and beyond to serve our group and was hustling to bring out entrees, clear plates and empty glasses and provide refills. She remembered what each person was drinking and always seemed to be one step ahead, perceiving whatever we may need before we even had the thought to ask. This was a cool sports bar with a great atmosphere. A locals hangout. The food was really good, however the serving size for the price was less than I had hoped. The service was great. Very friendly. We've had numerous good visits in the past, but tonight was an extreme exception! At the bar, I ordered 3 different beers and they were out of all of them, so I settled for a water. Once seated, we waited for about 20 before our waiter approached our table. On this first visit he asked if we would need silverware and of course we said, "Yes". About 15 minutes later he came back to check on us and told my wife he would "check on that burger for her". This was very odd because we hadn't even ordered yet. So, he then proceeded to take our order. Keep in mind he still hadn't brought our silverware, which was no biggie since we didn't have our food. My wife had ordered a salad and requested it be brought out before her meal. Another 20 minutes later, we see him waiting on a couple tables down with my wife's salad in hand and then takes silverware off the other table to give to my wife. Again, odd. Not even a minutes later a runner brings out our meals. Both my teriyaki bowl and her burger appeared to have been sitting for quite some time and they were both room temperature. To top things off, I hadn't received my silverware. When I requested it at the time my food was delivered, a few minutes later a manger arrived and said that they ran out of silverware. How does that even happen?!?! So, I had to use plastic ware. Needless to say, we won't ever be back. This was the worst dining experience I had ever had. read more

I wish I could review the food, but we were so unwelcome that we didn't get that far. My partner and I walked in after a long day of traveling, coming straight from CVG around 11:40pm on a Tuesday. Google said it was open until 1am, which is why we chose Drake's in the first place. We walked in and a few customers were still around. Both bartenders were visibly annoyed we walked in. Around 11:43pm, someone greeted us at the table. Since it looked pretty slow, so we started by asking if the place was still open. Our server told us we had 3 minutes. Message received. We were clearly not welcome. As we were preparing to leave, the server followed up with, "it's fine, really!" But I've worked in the restaurant industry before. I know how annoying it is to take a table or get an order to the kitchen that late at night, so we left. The biggest bummer is that the place looked pretty cool - lots of beer on tap and the menu seemed pretty big with a lot of great things to choose from. I guess we'll never know, since we're clearly not welcome there. read more

This place was highly recommended by the hotel I was staging at down the street. So glad we came here! The bbq burger was fantastic and big portion. The quesadillas were very good and same with the wings (wet). So goood. Everything had lots of flavor! I also got broccoli as a side and surprisingly it was delicious. Restaurant wasn't busy, however, food service was a little slow but I don't mind waiting. Had steak/California roll combo and crunchy roll. Steak was lack of flavor. Sushi rolls are ok. Tater tot were over cooked, started turning into brown color. Waitress seems very busy, she didn't even ask us how was the food, or refill our drinks.
