Other recommended dishes (a healthy option) is the steamed fish with ginger and scallion--it's a delicious white fish, seasoned perfectly and has a light and tasty sauce. The fish with mixed vegetables is even healthier, and comes with bok choy and other delicious veggies. I've tried the Hong-Kong style Cantonese noodles as well and it is a true staple of the restaurant--the best I've had. I've been to China and Hong Kong several times, eaten at all the best Cantonese places and the Fung Shing version is my personal favorite! It comes with Chicken, Pork, Seafood, crispy noodles, and the classic light brown sauce -- crazy good. Another standout quality is the softness/tenderness of the chicken and rich, yet light taste of the chicken bone-broth sauce, which tastes fresh/real and delicious. And if you've read any reviews of this restaurant on any platform you will see people raving about their salt and pepper pork chops. Like how they're the best pork chops they've ever had in their life, or how they had the pork chops multiple times during their short trip to Montreal. So I was really curious to try them. My husband and I went there for lunch on our most recent trip to Montreal. We shared the peanut butter wontons ($3.50), General Tao Chicken ($12.95) and of course the All Dressed Salt and Pepper Pork Chops with rice ($12.50). The portions were massive. Honestly, we could have just ordered the pork chops to share and we would have been happily full. Instead we were uncomfortably overstuffed, lol. The peanut butter wontons came 6 per order. We asked them to hold the sesame seeds and they accommodated. The peanut butter sauce was a bit runny and oily, but otherwise tasty. They added some chilli pepper paste to the sauce which gave it a spicy kick. The wontons were filled with ground pork. The General Tao Chicken portion was huge. I was hoping for some vegetables with it like bell peppers but it didn't come with any. The sauce was sweet, but not cloying. I usually like a spicy kick to my General Tao Chicken, but I still enjoyed the sauce. The meat inside was a bit chewy and tough; the texture tasted more like pork than chicken to me. And there was a lot of breading. I felt this was definitely a quantity over quality dish. It wasn't bad and I think it's good for the price, but I prefer my General Tao Chicken with little batter and lean breast meat and it was not that. The Salt and Pepper Pork Chops were very nicely seasoned. I really liked the flavours of this dish, but the pork chops are battered and deep-fried and so they were greasy. I think my arteries cried after this meal, lol. I also read in some reviews they were boneless, but our pork chops definitely had bones in them. The pork chops were fatty too. The dish came with rice with a fried egg on top and 3 pieces of Bok Choy and we got 4-5 pork chops. It was a lot of food. You definitely get a lot of bang for your buck here. Were the pork chops the best I've ever had in my life? No. But they were very good. Am I glad I tried them? Yes. Will I have them again? Likely not because they are too fatty/greasy for my tastes. This place is very popular. Lots of takeout orders while we were there. And a man came in who was a regular because the server asked him if he wanted "the usual, no bean sprouts?" and he nodded affirmative and proceeded to seat himself, lol.
