Some foodie with marketing savvy must have come up with its nickname, "The Din Tai Fung of Montreal". That's because this spot focuses on soup dumplings (xiao long bao), the world famous offering of Din Tai Fung. The reality is that this restaurant has no connection with Din Tai Fung, but that's not to say their dumplings are not good. Jamie W and I got lured due to the mythic connection and arrived right at 11AM when they open. We secured a booth, and sure enough, it took just ten minutes for them to reach capacity and start a queue. Naturally we ordered the 'classique' xiao long bao, the C$13.99 Juicy Pork & Chive Soup Dumplings (Photo 10). Ten came with the order in a bamboo steamer, and they didn't disappoint as the soup gushed out with little effort. The pork and chive filling had a satisfying meaty flavor and good consistency.
