    Mayonnaise fried shrimp and chicken.
    Drew Q.

Pretty good Cantonese style Chinese restaurant. Right in front of a supermarket. We had an 10 course meal. So I can say I had a good cross cut of their food. I won't talk about each course but the notable ones. Their suckling pig was great and the crab and lobster were good. They also had this mayonnaise chicken fried with shrimp that was interesting. I have never seen that dish anywhere and I have been to more Chinese restaurants than most.

Usually, I'm skeptical of randomly placed Chinese restos. This one is no exception--it shares a building with Super C. That to me is weird. But to my surprise, very decent Canto food. I find it $2-3 more expensive per dish than expected compared with other Chinese food places. Our uncle waiter was really friendly and originally from Hong Kong so we chatted with him in Cantonese. We ordered the 4-dish combo and added an extra dish. That came out to $83+tx. Rule of thumb is to order one dish per person when sharing and throw in a request for a large bowl of rice. The starter is a complementary bowl of carrot, greens, pork broth "soup". Yes, Asians like thin soup :P Then our food was served up pretty quick: salt & pepper white chicken, crispy garlicky fried shrimps (which were really good), bitter melon black bean beef, stir fried greens, and deep fried battered fish. Meal concluded with a complementary taro tapioca dessert soup. Overall good enough that I'd actually go back!

They have a good selection of both meat and vegetarian (even vegan) options for dumplings. I ordered the steamed pork and coriander while my friends ordered the tofu and green onion and another vegetarian option. They were all good but nothing spectacular. For $10 they are still worth it. I think I would go for the broth dumplings next time for more favour and less dry. Overall great service and very clean restaurant but food was lacking a bit of flavour.

We were seated on high tables near the window at the entrance of the restaurant at our request, as the rest of the dining room was less charming. After ordering, the wait was ridiculously long to get our food. We ordered my go-to fave dumpling order, steamed lamb and coriander, and we also got the beef curry. So I don't know what happened, if this was an off night or what but basically it was almost inedible. The dough was hard and undercooked/doughy around the edges. So gross. The filling for both was ok but never going back as other dumpling shops in Montreal are authentic, delicious, more generous portion-wise and cheaper! I don't mind paying more but only if it's worth it.

Kim Fung is a in a shopping center and was pretty full but we were able to be seated right away. They brought up dishes on carts and we were able to order even though our table was in the corner. While we were there, the fire alarm was ringing. It did not seem like there was a fire, and three fire trucks even came to check things out, but no one inside the restaurant seemed concerned so everyone kept eating. The food was good but it was a little annoying eating with the fire alarm on. We ordered a lot of dim sum classics that we eat back home in California but it seemed like the prices were lower than what we normally pay back home. The bill once we figured our the CAD-USD conversion seemed very reasonable. If we're in town again and the fire alarm isn't loud, we'll try it again.

This time around it seems they took my advice (lol!) as dim sum ladies were very friendly and the restaurant itself taken care of better. Food was tasty too. The egg tart pastry was amazing because it had the additional tasty crust that covered the egg tart where the egg tart usually shows up on top in many other Asian bakeries. This might be one of the best egg tart pastries I've had! Presumedly, comes from a bakery in the area- I don't know the bakeries around and didn't have time to scope around like that unfortunately. The shrimp rolls here were okay, the dim sum dumplings were delicious with flavor, juice, and typical dim sum texture. The hot tofu was done well and with the syrup. Staff is friendly here. Location is convenient and ambiance is nice for a traditional Asian dining classy restaurant.

As has been mentioned elsewhere, it's up a flight of stairs, it opens around 10:30, and the carts start coming around about 10:45. There's also a sort of order and take out counter to the left of the entrance. Menu items can also be ordered inside while dim sum is coming around. The carts come out slowly and increase in number about every 15 minutes or so, and items seem to come out in a predictable order. You're given a small ramekin with a spicy sauce and mustard in it, which for me is sufficient. I don't feel the need for soy sauce for dim sum, nor is it on the table and has to be requested. One thing I liked is that the cost of items appear on the card for each row, so that you can maintain a rough idea of how much your meal has cost so far. The other thing I liked is the atmosphere. It was very friendly and relaxed, and I noticed many of the staff waving to individuals as they entered, probably regulars. While they didn't have necessarily the variety of offerings I've had at other dim sum restaurants, the overall experience was quite enjoyable and worth considering on future visits to Montreal.

I believe that there weren't enough servers at the time that we showed up which was another contributing factor to the longer wait time for the food. Once the food started coming out, it was very fast. I would say that the food was very good. We ordered one of the predetermined # course meals (I believed we ordered the 8 course meal). This included soup, rice, fish, lobster, salt & pepper pork chops, salt & pepper calamari, deep fried shrimp & chicken with a mayonnaise type sauce, a beef & vegetable dish, and a few other things that I don't recall. Parking outside the restaurant is free but because this restaurant shares the parking spaces with other businesses, it is hit or miss whether you will be able to park in the parking lot close to the restaurant. I was lucky enough at the time that I showed up to park in front of the restaurant. My brother wasn't as lucky and parked on the street for free a few blocks away from the restaurant.

It's a big space, golden dragons, aquariums, TVs playing Chinese TV shows. Next to the restaurant there is a direct entry to a different billard bar, which adds more 80s martial arts movies vibe to the experience. The lady waitress was super kind. They have some special names for some of their rices. When she explained the Ying Yang rice, I was immediately sold. But she was a little bit concerned for us and suggested another rice which would be more of a conventional fried rice. She was very kind to do that but I said that I do like to try new dishes and flavours and that for sure I will like it. The general Tao was so good (talk about new flavours right? Sorry I was with my gf who is the opposite of me and likes to stick to the basics). The black bean pepper sauce beef was succulent. Full of pepper, and first time I see they leave the bone in the ribs for that dish, normally in other restaurants they won't put the bones so that was cool. The Ying Yang rice is half sweet and sour with chicken and pineapple and half with a white sauce and shrimps. It was very good, but I do understand why she would not suggest it, I can see people not liking the Yang part (the white part due to the sauce) , but if this serves as reassurance , I was surprised that my gf did like it. I definitely enjoyed it. This was a fun experience, we had a blast with the lady. I could see myself going back there late hours when I don't want to have chinese food at downtown.

Luckily, i was able to snag the last box of Thin Mints and a box of Trefoils, so I am not complaining. Since I was already at the location, I thought why not try the restaurant. I did not know what to expect and honestly I did not factor in that it was a buffet. Coming from Miami originally (though currently living in Saint Albans), I was lucky (no pun intended ^_^) to have had some really great buffets to experience in Miami, FL (ie. Kyojin in South Miami, Canton in Coral Gables, POC in Coral Gables) but I was craving Chinese food as I had not had any in so long. Lucky Buffet did not disappoint. They had sit down dining service as well as to go service. I am not sure if they deliver. If they did that would be amazing! But it was pretty busy which is always a good sign for a restaurant because it means they are doing good business and there is a demand for it. I ended up eating with my eyes and then my stomach because i filled 2 to go containers with a variety/assortment of foods like General Tso's chicken (my favorite), chicken & broccoli, crunchy and flavorful snap peas, crispy wonton noodles, very breaded/fluffy battered chicken tenders, and some vegetable fried rice that i doused in the General Tsao's sauce). I also got some of these Buttered scalloped potatoes which O-M-G were so darn good. They also had sliced onion mixed into the batch and no complaints there. It came out to a total of $38. There was a sign that said it was like $7.95 for pound of food and I figured I would splurge since I am not sure when I would be back there. I walk everywhere and in the cold, frigid temps, it's a bit cumbersome (and dangerous) to walk with food like that over icy sidewalks and slushy-muddy snow. I can't speak to what dining in would be like, but it seemed pretty decent. There was a steady flow of customers coming in and out which is always good to see. I also liked how they had fortune cookies sitting on display in the middle of the place for guests to take. I took about six lol I can't resist a good old fashioned fortune cookie:) If I ever happen to be walking by again, I would consider it again, but it is a lot of food. So you have to go on an empty stomach and also try not to over indulge or else you will have tummy issues. Chinese food is notorious for having MSG, but I am not sure if they use that there. I will say that they had a pretty decent dessert bar and ice cream selection. The people of Saint Albans are "lucky" to have this restaurant in their midsts. Also parking is pretty ample for those that have vehicles and the restaurant itself seemed pretty clean and well organized. If buffet items got low, they immediately would replenish them. The food was hot and ready to go. A plus was the little keychains being sold at the front at the counter. I had to get a Stitch one because I love the Stitch character. He's so cute ^_^ They also had a Spiderman one and Hello Kitty one so any fans of those characters would be pleasantly surprises and amused to see them being sold there once you check out and pay. Highly recommend this place.
