They had great reviews on TaskRabbit (which they no longer do) and Amazon Services and they definitely lived up to expectations. Del returned my call right away and showed up exactly on time. As I found out, Del was a union electrician for several years before starting his own business, and did a great job installing light switches in my place. Recently, I just moved into a new house and needed to have my electrical panel replaced. After looking around online I came across Dr. Handy Services. Del came by the house to give me an estimate and he was reasonably priced. He is very friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. His team did a great job of installing the panel and everything works great in my house. I also like the fact that they are very respectful of your property. When I came downstairs to check it out it was very clean and I had no mess to clean up from installation unlike previous contractors I had work on other projects I had done. I cannot say enough good things about Del and his team. We had a seemingly minor but ultimately challenging job - a small space with old, complicated features. We were having trouble finding someone to do the job (a common issue during this long pandemic year). Del came highly recommended by our neighbor. Every step of the way, his company was excellent: 1) responsiveness, ongoing communication, and timely scheduling (via the fantastic Denise); 2) excellent care and workmanship, both by Del+team (installing new light fixtures and complex switches) and by David+team (removing wallpaper, conditioning the damaged walls, painting, and doing minor "handyman" repairs); 3) cost and payment - reasonable and easy. I work out of my home, and the electricity went out, and I went into panic mode. I had important business the very next day, and could not afford to wait for an electrician the following day. DR Handy Services to the rescue! Even though they still had two jobs left for the entire remaining part of the day, I got a call at the end of the day that they would come over and try to assist me. Every other electrician, except for one who wanted to charge a high fee for doing so, told me tomorrow was the earliest. It turned out all I needed to do was turn the breakers on and off, so I didn't need DR Handy services after all. But their willingness to help me on such short notice is highly appreciated. Our heavy medicine cabinet with embedded light bar fell off the wall late on Friday night. I sent Del an email after it happened, thinking he probably wouldn't respond until after New Year's and was pleasantly surprised when he replied within a couple of hours. I sent him photos of the cabinet and contacted him the following morning (Saturday). After a couple of convos/texts, he informed me that he would be able to come by in an hour or so with one of his co-workers to rewire the electric and hang it back up. It was a 2 man job and they did it in just over an hour. A little more than I wanted to spend, however, worth every penny since he was able to fit us in a the last minute on a weekend, which was great since we have guests coming over. Del and his co-worker are professional, courteous and very accommodating. He provided top notch service and guarantee his work 100%. I would definitely hire him again. read more

Del is awesome! We had him come a year and a half ago to replace a ceiling fan in our dining room with a chandelier. Him and his dad came while we were out of town and were in touch the whole time sending pictures and checking to make sure it was as we wanted! Fast forward to a few weeks ago and I contacted Del to come and swap 2 grungy ceiling fans with new ones. He managed to fit us in right away. He is professional, knowledgeable, kind, and punctual. I needed to get two TVs mounted (75 inch and 55 inch) install a ceiling fan, and an electric outlet and needed some framed pictures hung. Del is very responsive and prompt to communicate with. On he day of the job, he came with a team of three. Everyone was very professional and very pleasant to interact with. Job was done professionally, and they cleaned very well afterwards. I had Del mount two smart televisions and help with set up. He exceeded my expectations in all respects. When he arrived, he took a few minutes for me to show the two locations where sets would be installed. He then explained in detail what he would be doing and proceeded to accomplish each step of the project, explaining what he was doing as he went along and answering any questions I had. He had the mounts that were needed with him so a second visit wasn't necessary. When he finished, he helped me set up passwords, speakers, etc., so that we could confirm that the sets were working correctly. He tucked the wires behind the set so they didn't show. He cleaned up thoroughly. I greatly appreciated the care with which he completed the project and his patience with the few obstacles he encountered. His price for the project was more than fair. He also pre-sold me on an exterior security system that I hope to get in the future. I highly recommend Del and intend to call him for future electrical repairs/projects. read more

Del just finished his first job for me and I am already making a mental list of what I might someday want him to help me with in the future. I am very pleased with the work he did -- hanging a heavy spice rack, mirror, and jewelry armoire on old plaster walls -- and found the overall experience of working with him to be very positive and pleasant. I initially contacted him by email to inquire about his availability to assist with the work I needed done. He was extremely responsive in his correspondence, even though I wrote him over the 4th of July weekend. We set up an appointment for just a few days later and he contacted me by both phone and text on the day of to confirm his arrival time. He was very efficient and neat in his work, which he said he guarantees, and he really made the effort to ensure my items were hung straight and securely. He is very personable and polite and patiently answered questions I had along the way. When he mentioned in passing his experience working as an electrician, I seized the opportunity to ask him a few questions I had about adding an additional outlet or circuit in my bedroom. He offered a very helpful and informative consultation, even though that wasn't what I had initially engaged him for and it was already quite late in the day.
