I contacted Del for the second time when one day recently, all the outlets on one side of my condo went dead. True to form, he was calm and pleasant, and he diagnosed the problem in about five seconds. I'm way too embarrassed to say what happened, but let's just say it was "user error"!! I fully expected to pay him for the visit, but he would not charge me. Since he was there, I showed him another future project, and he referred me to someone he knows, because that person has more expertise for what I need. Del can do it but he said this other person can do it better. Now, how many contractors would do that?! I enjoyed meeting his dad this time, too, since he told me about him the first time he did some work for me. It's great to know I have someone to turn to that is trustworthy and has integrity when I need help! read more

Found them via Amazon after I ordered a ceiling fan. They came right on time and did a great job! I had some additional work done and so I'm upping this review from 4 to 5 stars. Dr. Handy Services is fantastic! Del and his Dad hung curtains, pictures and even drilled a hole in a piece of furniture so that I could hide my cable chords. Really great work! Thanks! read more

Del is a rare find -- skilled technician and 100% good guy. I had a problem with the electric outlets in my daughter's room. He was willing to come out to take a look but he suggested that I try a couple of things first on my own. His tips worked, which essentially cost him a job. This is an honest guy who knows his stuff. read more

Wow, what a professional company! I found them on Yelp and after the reviews, decided to get an estimate. I needed a door handle replaced, floating shelfs hung (in a tough spot) and my Ring spotlight and camera installed on my brick garage. JC came out and quoted me and was very professional. The day of the install, they came, did all the installs, showed me and my wife during the process and again, totally professional. They focused on the details and the installs were awesome and looked like they belong there all along. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM and have JC come out, he was nice, friendly, knowledgable and does GREAT WORK. I will use them again! read more

Sad to say, but I'd give this company zero stars if I could. I will give one positive note: Del took great care to find the correct part on the internet for my bathroom fan since I had ordered the wrong one. Other than that, horrible experience. Del replaced the large overhead light in my kitchen. When he finished, he asked if I could take care of getting rid of the stuff left over from the work. I saw a large cardboard box and a few small items so I said ok because my recycling was that evening. When I looked in the box, I found non-recyclable material and asked him to take that away which he agreed to do. After he left, I found that he had left the VERY heavy old light in my kitchen for me - a 70 year old woman - to get rid of. Ridiculous. Not only that, he didn't clean up after himself. There was all kinds of grit on the floor. Needless to say, I'll never use this company again. In response to Del's comment, I believe I was mistaken about his person missing an appointment so I deleted it. Del called me because he was upset about my review. We do not agree on what happened. Obviously, everyone else gave him 5 stars so my experience was an aberration. read more

I first hired Del about a year ago through Handy and this time I called him directly. I actually called him for another job a few days ago, and since he and his team were booked, he referred me to another guy, who was every bit as professional and lovely to deal with as these guys. Del and Donte have moved my couch into two different, awkwardly arranged apartments - both times they showed up promptly, were super friendly and had a positive attitude throughout. I'm keeping their contact info handy - I'm sure I will be calling on them again! read more

I recommend Dr. Handy!!! I've know Del for a couple of years and he never let's me down. When you try to find someone to help, Del and his team take the pressure and stress over. I love it when someone listens and explains. Del is very patient and efficient. Awesome combination! Again, don't waste your time with searching for help with your beautiful home. And if he's booked, he refers useful people too! What more could you ask for?!?! read more

I contacted DR Handy...after reading reviews and contacting a few Yelpers. Del is the best!. I wanted a few curtains hung for ine appointment and my TV mounted to the wall for the next appointment(both were a few days apart). He did an excellent job!. Very professional, and gave great advice. I am having 2 additional TV'S mounted later with soundboards in a few weeks. I'm looking no where else, becuase I know the job(s) will be done right. With his interactive app for scheduling, I can see exactly when he will be out. Thanks Del.... See ya soon read more

Dr. Handy Services mounted my tv to the wall and concealed the wires behind the wall. This was my first time having a tv hung up and it's awesome and can swivel around so you can watch from different angles. I would highly recommend this company with all the handy jobs one can't handle. Prices are reasonable and customer service is the best. read more

I used DR Handy to take down an old indoor fan/light and install a new one. Del and his colleague did a great job. They arrived on schedule. Did good work (despite the complexities of the old wiring) and charged a very reasonable price. Would use them again. read more

Have used Del twice now, both times to install overhead lights in rooms where they were lacking. Del arrived on time and texted when On his way. Did excellent work on both jobs. After the most recent job I had a minor issue that in retrospect I could have EASILY resolved myself, but Del responded to my texts late that evening and returned to my house the next day to make sure the problem was resolved to my satisfaction. I was very impressed and appreciative. Would use these services again and have recommended to others. read more

Del did everything I asked of him with perfection and professionalism. I will definitely hire this company again for other projects around my home. read more

I highly recommend Del of DR Handy Services. I had him replace 3 wired smoke alarms and my living room light fixture. He did great work. He is very pleasant and efficient and even replaced the batteries in my carbon monoxide detector, which I hadn't realized needed replacing. When I get it together to address the many other items on my to do list, I plan to use them again. read more

He really helped me out with a tv install and mount. A great guy, family man. Highly recommended.

Del was great! I will be recommending him to all my friends. I had my ceiling fan malfunction. I ordered the new parts. He reassembled it and had it working in no time. You will not find a better electrician in DMV! read more

Friendly prompt and professional. I like them for handy services and electrical work.

Hands down, 5 stars. Great customer service, scheduled my work asap and it was done so well; affordable! I'll be using them again.

This is an early review but I am very happy with my initial interaction and planning of my home improvement needs. Del and Luis came out to estimate the things I needed done and to review all the services they provide. They were pleasant to work with from the start. Additionally, the scheduling has been easy because Del has been pretty responsive which is always nice. I will update my review once the rest of the work has been done, but based on first impressions I am glad I chose this Del and his team! read more

Del is absolutely wonderful. He accommodated our intense schedules by coming out early Saturday morning. He hung ~10 pieces for us including two heavy mirrors in an hour flat, it was so efficient. He's also incredibly friendly and professional. We would recommend him to anyone. Thank you, Del! read more

Awesome experience. Have used them twice to hang TVs. Couldn't have been better. Professional fast and all for a reasonable price. Love these guys. read more

Dr. Handy Services are by far the most helpful. I had a problem with my circuit breaker, so half my home had no power. I told the electrician how the issue occurred and he explained possible solutions for fixing the problem. He was upfront and honest with me, from the beginning. Dr Handy Services will now be my go to company for any electrical issues I have in my home. If you have any electrical issues in your home, I would highly recommend Dr. Handy Services. read more

Del runs a great business and is proud of his work, and I am a very happy customer. We just moved into a new house and had some projects I could use a hand on. Found Del on Yelp and scheduled him for a Friday morning. He was super-communicative and professional ahead of the visit. When he arrived, he got right to work. He is a perfectionist and made sure everything - TV mount, pictures he hung, lights he installed, etc - was done to the highest level. He is a trained electrician, Nest Pro, and is an all around super knowledgeable guy. Also, his prices, especially for the DC-area, are extremely fair and he charges by the 15 minutes, so since I didn't use him for the full last hour, I only paid for the time he worked. Can't beat that. He worked hard, communicated when needed, and did great work. I have more projects coming up and I will be using Dr. Handy Services again for sure. I only wish more businesses were run this well. read more

Based on reviews and proximity to my location less than half a mile, I decided to try Dr Handyman out. I got a call back during which I was told they do electrics work and hanging folding doors i.e. Carpentry type work was best suited to another company they could recommend. I think the all round handyman description in the Yelp blurb can be misleading based on the the businesses' self described specialties. read more

I called Dr. Handy services to hang two fans and two TV's in my rooms. Did decent work, but kept missing things I asked them to do. Had to get them to come back 3+ times. Electrical was really good. Loved the electrical work. Followed up with more work a couple months later and was quoted a price. Day before service they asked to increase the price by $200. read more

Amazing! Del is awesome and super easy to work with. He worked quickly and efficiently and at a fair rate. He even bought the supplies needed, saving me a trip to the hardware store. Del Ruiz of Dr Handy Services is amazing! He took the time to delivery high quality services. I highly recommend him!

2nd move job with these guys. Fast, efficient, down to Earth and friendly. I'm going to be calling them for additional jobs down the line.

Del did an INCREDIBLE job, quickly finding the issue with our external power outlet (it was providing no power, but no circuit breakers were popped). He was tenacious, keeping me updated as he worked, and had it fixed within an hour. He is also extremely professional and personable- two admirable traits so often missing in today's businesses. I would (and will) hire him for all my home needs! (Chris, Lt Col, USAF) read more

Del is awesome! Super professional, knows exactly what he is doing. Mounted my 55" TV, concealed the wires, gave me some electrical outlet advice and is detailed! He was very neat and orderly. Dr. Handy has my recommendation! You won't be disappointed! read more

Top notch. Fantastic owner who is detail orientated and committed to an outstanding service experience. He mounted two flat screen TVs, hung all of my paintings/sculptures/artwork, some which were large, odd-shaped and/or heavy and assembled the glass portions of the china hutch and curios. He arrived on time, did not sacrifice quality, was honest about what will work and what will not work and offered solutions to challenges we ran into. He returned to replace pretty much all of the ceiling fixtures (lights and fans) to include select dimmers and install a Nest device. The Nest device threw an error 3/4 of the way through - my home did not have enough power. Del recommended a Ring2, which he installed two (front and back) as well as an Almond device to allow connectivity for the front door (since sufficient bandwidth was not picking up). The builder did a pretty poor job with the electrical, so Del resolved the electrical issues impacting the installation (wiring and proper support to hold the light/fan) and even recommended swapping a pair of outlets to make it easier to find a wall-plate. Not only is Del's work and solutions top notch, he is very easy to communicate with and is honest regarding the services he offers. read more

Wow! Is it hard to find good people to help with household tasks--but finally I found DR Handy Services! Super professional work and excellent customer service. Easy quote and appointment set up through the website. Del is very knowledgeable about entertainment center installations. He provided his expertise on how to set my tv and sound bar combo and mounted the tv with a very clean no wire look. He had all the equipment available to make it happen on the spot. The price is reasonable for the level of quality and attention to detail. If you are looking for a top notch handyman in the DMV look no further than Dr. Handy Services. read more
